Chapter 67: Sienna's pov

The pack was welcoming. It all felt like a dream I was scared to wake up from. No one ordering me around or trying to get into my panties.

I was free.

Free to make my decision, free to walk about without being told what and what not to do.

We were given a small cabin not far from the pack house. It was not big, but it was warm and clean.

Ronan said it used to belong to a fallen warrior. I did not ask questions. I was just grateful we were not locked in a cell.

It was quite spacious. I liked it.

Lucian was helped inside and laid on the bed. A healer came shortly after.

She was an older woman with kind eyes and grey hair tied back neatly. She said her name was Eugene. She checked Lucian carefully, pressing her fingers against his chest, his wrist, his neck.

I was scared of her seeing his blood but then, Lucian was pretty healed up.

“He has lost a lot of blood and strength,” she said. “But he will live.”

That was exactly what Ronan told me.

I felt my chest loosen for the first time in days.

She gave him herbs and told him to rest. Before leaving, she looked at me closely. “You are strong,” she said quietly. “But even strong people break if they carry too much. You should loosen up. Try and relax and take your mind off the past.”

I did not reply. I did not know how to tell her that breaking was not an option for me. My past was what has shaped me into what I was today.

When she left, I sat beside Lucian and watched him sleep. His breathing was slow but steady. I brushed his hair back gently.

My supposed brother looked so simple and relieved. I felt like he was carrying too much weight and burden.

I remembered what my mother had told me. Our destiny was entwined and I knew we were both going to fight this together.

But first, we need a plan. We need an army.

A soft knock came on the door.

I stood up carefully and opened it. Ronan stood there with a young girl behind him. She looked a little younger. She had bright eyes and a calm smile.

“This is Mara,” Ronan said. “She will help you settle in. Clothes. Food. Anything you need.”

I bowed slightly. “Thank you.”

Ronan nodded once and left.

Mara stepped inside and looked around. “You can relax,” she said. “No one here will hurt you. Not unless the Alpha says so.”

That was not very comforting, but I smiled anyway.

She handed me folded clothes. “These should fit. And food will be brought later.”

“Thank you,” I said again.

She hesitated before leaving. “People are curious about you,” she added. “You don’t look like rebels.”

“What do rebels look like?” I asked.

She smiled faintly. “Desperate. Angry. Full of hate. We have been attacked for quite a while. I think I would know a rebel when I see one.”

I looked down at my hands. “We are just tired. Can you give us some space?”

She nodded like she understood and left.

Later that evening, Lucian woke up. His eyes searched the room before settling on me.

“Where are we?” he asked weakly.

“Ravenclaw pack,” I replied softly. “We are safe. For now.”

He sighed and closed his eyes again. “You saved us.”

“We saved each other,” I said.

Food came after that. Simple meals. Bread. Soup. Meat. I ate slowly, afraid it would disappear if I rushed.

That night, I could not sleep. I kept thinking about Alpha Jacquet’s words. Ravenclaw is not kind to secrets. I knew what I was hiding.

It was a secret that could turn pack against pack if not handed properly.

Lucian’s secret could destroy everything.

The next few days passed quietly. Lucian slowly got better. He could walk without leaning too much on me.

The healer came often and nodded with approval each time.

People in the pack started talking to me. Some greeted me kindly. Some watched me closely. Children stared at me with wide eyes. Women whispered when I passed. I did not blame them. We were strangers.

I helped where I could. Cleaning. Carrying water. Sorting herbs. I wanted them to see I was not useless. I wanted them to trust me.

One morning, Mara came running to me.

“The Alpha wants to see you,” she said.

My heart skipped.

“Now?” I asked.

She nodded.

I followed her to the pack house. The guards let me in without trouble this time. That alone told me things were changing.

Alpha Jacquet was not on his throne. He stood by a large table filled with maps. He looked up when I entered.

“Sienna,” he said. “Come closer.”

I did.

“You have been quiet,” he said. “How are you settling into the pack?”

I lowered my gaze. “I do not want trouble, Alpha. My brother and I have been trying to find common ground with the pack members.”

“Hm,” he hummed. “You help the pack. I have heard many talks about that and how you follow rules. Yet I sense fear on you.”

My fingers tightened. “I fear for my brother.”

“Only that?” he asked.

I swallowed. “Yes.”

He studied me for a long moment. Then he sighed.

“You may stay,” he said. “Both of you. But understand this. If I find out you lied to me, I will not be merciful.”

“I understand,” I said quickly.

As I turned to leave, he spoke again. “Your brother carries something heavy.”

I froze. What was he talking about?

“Pain,” he added calmly. “ A man like him need to let things go. You are safe here in the pack. No one is going to touch or harm you.”

I nodded slowly. A kind of relief washed over me. The handsome Alpha was so caring that I couldn't help but wonder why.

As I walked out of the room, my gaze went back and I caught him staring at me.

I knew he was going to demand something of me. I was not sure what it was going to be.

Maybe I shouldn't have told him Lucian was my brother. Maybe I should have told him he was my mate.
