Chapter 134 134

Chapter 134 134
Kimberly’s POV

Okay.

This has to be the last time I would wake up after a bad encounter. I groaned as I opened my eyes to an unfamiliar environment.

Then I started to feel like I’d been here before now. Before I could put my hands on the familiarity, the door opened, and Julian walked in like he owned the place.

His place.

I sat up on the bed and pushed back into the edge of the bed. My eyes betrayed nothing. And I was glad that I felt better than I was thinking. The encounter with Amelia flashed in the front of my mind, and I felt creeps and cold rush through my body.

“What am I doing here?” I asked him coldly, swinging my legs to the side of the bed.

“Calm down.” His deep voice cut through to me as he stood in front of me; he was so close that I could smell his body musk. I suddenly felt heady, but I stood my ground. I looked everywhere but at him. Well, if the ground was that interesting.

“Get out of the way. I need to leave.” My voice came out more gruff than intended.

“That’s a very funny way of appreciating someone that saved you.”

I was taken aback, and that made me look at him, and I regretted it almost immediately. I was shaken by the intensity of his gaze.

“Are you joking with me right now?” I asked in shock.

He came closer. And I grabbed the sheets very tightly, not wanting to fall into the trap that he was laying for me.

“Do you know what could have happened to you if I did not get there in time?” He asked, and I could have almost been fooled that he was worried about me.

“I didn’t ask you to. You could have gone your way and pretended you did not see me. Is that not what you would have wished for?” I hated how my voice shook at the end. But I still stood my ground.

I wanted to stand up, but I knew that if I did, I would be very close to him, and I didn't want that, so I stood my ground, sitting on the bed. And deciding within me maybe to ignore him like he was not there. Maybe that would work.

The silence in the room was grating on my nerves.

“I need to go,” I said suddenly and stood up. I was toe to toe with him, not like I did not expect it. What I did not expect was how all my emotions rushed to the surface, and it felt like the world was tilting on the edge.

“Stay and don’t even drag it out with me.” He said, and anger spiked inside of me.

“What the hell?” I pushed at his chest. And I knew it was not my strength that made him step back, and he only did that because he wanted to. But I’m quite glad that he did step away from me. That gave me more air and more confidence.

“You don’t have the right to make me do what I don’t want to do. I don’t want to be here; let me be by myself. And if what you want to hear is the appreciation for you keeping me alive from a damn vampire, thank you very much. But your service was very much not needed.” I snapped and was about to bypass him when he grabbed my hand, and I struggled with him.

“Stop it!”

“Let me go! What do you want from me?! What else do you want from me? You’ve taken it all away. You’ve shown me that I don’t mean shit to you. So, how about you stop acting as if you care?” The tears that welled up in my eyes fell, and I hated it.

I vowed not to cry for him again, and here I was doing the said thing in front of him. I wiped the tears angrily away from my eyes, and I decided to turn to face him.

He had this unreadable expression on his face that made me feel like there was no point talking to a brick wall like him.

“Stop all of this, Julian. There is really no point.” I said to him, but he did not let go of my arm; his hold was reduced.

“You have no idea how hard this is for me.” He muttered under his breath like he was forced to say it, and I scoffed.

“How hard should letting me go be?”

“You know what I’m talking about, Kim. Don’t act clueless.”

“Don’t call me that.”

“Just stay and rest. You can leave later. I’ll take you down to your place.” He said.

“I’ll do that at my place. And I can always go myself. I’m not handicapped.” I shot.

“Kim.” He said in a warning tone.

“Julian,” I said with the same energy. He kept quiet for a while before he spoke.

“Are you not going to ask about Amelia?” He asked me, and I reeled back in my thoughts. That was true. She was the reason I was in this situation in the first place.

“I don’t care,” I said.

“And that is a short survival instinct you have there. Someone was about to kill you and leave you for dead in a public place. For someone that this has happened to before now, I thought you should have more self-consciousness than that.”

“I don’t exactly care how I will die since it will happen anyway.” I shrugged. And almost immediately, he grabbed my shoulders and shook me very hard.

“What are you even saying? I’ve told you you’re not dying. At least not on my watch.” He said, and I laughed.

“You're hilarious. But then, that’s not new. See you later, Julian. I’ll leave now.” I said dismissively. He dropped his hand, and I was glad. I quickly looked around for my bag, then I remembered that I did not have anything on me. I’ll have to go back to get my stuff.

“Your bag is in the sitting room.” He said behind me.

“Thank you.” I walked out then.
