Chapter 33
The queen led us down into a massive hall, it was big enoug to fit thousands of vampires and humans alike, but only a few hundred of their closest allies were in attendance, each of them carrying themselves with a strength that I could never have even when I am turned.
I don't think I will be able to be as strong as they are. I would never be able to hide my fear so easily, I wouldn't be able to kill like they did, I wouldn't be able to Hold back my kindness as I killed. It just wasn't who I was or who i i wanted to be.
I want to be a good person, and Whilst I knew That I would Have to be changed eventually, I didn't want it to change who I was. I didn't want changing into a vampire to take away my kindness.
If anything, I wanted to build a life and be just like the Queen, she was so kind hearted and good, but I knew by the way she carried herself that she could hold herself out and fight, And she wouldn't think twice about protecting what was hers.
She wouldn't think twice about fighting for her family.
I wish i could have done the same, i wish i could have saved them.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I would fight for my family too, if I had one, and perhaps now I would have one again, I would give my life for my family.
But I just didn't want to be cruel. And I was scared I would be.
I was scared I would lose my kindness over the years of being an immortal.
i love how the hall was decorated, yellow and red, There are balloons and ribbons, everything you could think of, they even had ice sculpture of a heart. It was all so much, but not too much.
It was the perfect amount of Decorations and I loved it, they even had a buffet for the mortals in attendance, those that not yet been turned.
I was grateful for that. Food might just calm my nerves.
I spotted the prince in the crowd and i wanted to go to him right away, But I knew there were certain traditions and ways that things like this had to be done. So I stayed by the Queens side, Holding my tongue as she announced the room that I had arrived.
All eyes turned towards me, the faces i saw filled with smiles and happy applause. it seems like they were all happy for Calen and i, like they wanted our betrothal to succeed as much as we did, others however whispered that i was too young to understnad anything.
but i tried to ignore those that doubted we could make this work, they knew nothing of me, or how mature i was.
They didn't know a single thing about me, Calen did.
Eventually, after a long speech from the king and queen, I was allowed to go stand beside the Prince, the Queen nudging me forward.
As soon as I got close enough for Calen to speak, he embraced me in his arms, spinning me around in a tight circle before kissing me. "you look amazing Little princess." he said with a giant smile on his face, His voice filled with excitement.
Suddenly, my own excitement for the ceremony was back, although I couldn't wait to be Alone with him again, i always felt like I could be myself when we were alone together, and I cherish every moment we could have.
Even if it wont be much for a while. He has work to do after all.
I want to nothing more than to keep my arms around him, But there were more important things right now, just as we moved apart Celeste came running up to me and jumped into my Arms.
"are you my sister yet?" she shouts loud enough for everyone in the room to hear, "can we have a sleepover now?"
The Queen looked mortified and embarrassed, but I loved the little girl and her bravery, she didn't care what anyone else in the room thought, she only cared about what she wanted, and she was innocent as a child could come.
"not yet sweet girl." I said softly, "but we will be soon. Then we can have all the sleepovers you want."
"you promise?" she asks with widened innocent eyes.
"of course, I do." I smile, gently placing her back onto her feet And kissing the top of her head.
Celeste runs back to her mum, clearly happy with what I told her, and I hope of a sister finally coming through.
I guess I get my wish too, I get a family to call my own, and I get a man who will love and cherish me for the rest of his eternal life.
What more could a girl ask for?
The ceremony itself didn't take long, we exchange some words And promises, and then we exchange a drop of blood, so that he would always be able to find me when I was in need, until we were properly United.
Which I am told, will be in a few weeks.. so I didn't have a long after all.
I thought it was all going so quickly, and that maybe we were moving too fast, But this was normal for them, they waitwd their lives for the arrival of their partner, and then, once they found them, everything else went quickly, most expected us to have a child within a year.
But I'm not sure I wanted that right now, not with the war going on, I wouldn't like to bring a child into that.
I wouldn't want to be pregnant through that. I already had to be a newborn vampire and learn control my thirst. it was all going to be a bit much, I reckoned, But if my great grandmother knew I could do it and succeed, then, who was I doubt it.
Everyone was enjoying the party. The vampires were drinking their blood from glasses, And the humans are enjoying the fast buffet, including myself, they must have chef somewhere in the facility, because the food was exquisite.
I ate greedily and I saw a few of us doing the same, stuffing themselves until they were full.
Just as i began to dance with Calen screams echoed through the room, the mortals rushing to the other end, people screaming, whilst others shouted orders at those in attendance.
Caken looked accross the room before shoving me behind him, "its the Chosen." he shouted as loud as he could, informing everyone in the room that we were being attacked, and i knew exactly why they were here.
They had come for me.
