Chapter 28

I hate being on the road for a long time, I hate cars and I hate sleeping in them, it was uncomfortable and your legs cramp all the time. I never knew I'd say this, but I can't wait until we get to the Queen. Wherever she was. They hadn't actually told me where we were going, Although I suppose that was for their mothers safety, If I was captured by Theon's men I wouldn't be able to tell them where the queen or king was.

The brothers were adamant we wouldn't meet anyone on the road though, and I trusted them, They were careful and cautious, they never stopped unless It was absolutely necessary. Or unless I wine to the point where they couldn't stand it anymore, which was about three times a day at the moment. It has been just over two days since we left Jameses pack and I must say that I missed the humour, he was a strange person and then Again I didn't always get his jokes, But he was nice, and his people were kind. They took care of me when we have no one else to go to. When even Calen didn't know what to do.

"come on," I say, "if we don't stop soon, I'm going to pee all over your nice car."

"what is it with mortals and not been able to hold their bladder?" Edward whined, shaking his head, "we can't keep stopping just for you, Ariel."

"leave the girl alone brother, It's not her fault, she has the bladder of a kitten." Calen laughed, finding mine and Edwards constant bickering amusing. "Do you know that you two will have to get along eventually? You're going to be seen a lot more of each other when we're bound."

"Don't remind me, I may move to France." Edward smirked, winking at me in the rear view mirror.

I throw my empty pop bottle at Edward, Hitting him in the back of the head. "Don't start that again, We all know you wouldn't be able to handle the culture."

"You have no idea what I can handle, Little Miss." Edward growls, rubbing his head.

"Come on, we both know that didn't hurt." I laugh. He was such a drama queen.

Edward smirked again, "I'm just surprised you had any aim, must be hard to see for that big ego you have."

"Now, now you too, let's not start this again." Calen says, not able to control his own laughter. He turns attention back towards the road for a minute before he says. "You don't need to stay with each other much longer anyway, We're almost there."

i Turn my attention towards the road, Trying to find any indication that we were close to their home, but I couldn't see anything but trees on either side of the road, Theon had lived on top of a mountain, or should I say inside one. But I couldn't even see where their Home could be.

"where is it?"I say impatiently. "I can't see anything."

"it's not designed for you to see it, if it was, we would be attacked a whole lot more." Edward said, rolling his eyes.

"Alright, no one asked you." I snapped, too impatient, and excited to listen to him.

There is a small gap in the trees and Calen takes that road, it didnt even look like it be able to fit the car between the trees, But he managed to get us through, and now we're going down a strange road, One that both existed and didn't exist at the same time. I looked around, frantically, trying to find some clue that we were close, any indication that the underground facility was here. But I saw nothing. It was so well hidden that I couldn't even see the vents where the air would come in.

They had really thought this through, they had thought of everything, and probably a lot more than that too.

I knew once we got there that I would have to see the vampire queen and possibly the king too, although the brothers had told me that it was the Queen that really rules, She made all the important decisions in the king was by her side, He supported and protected her. He cherished her, Even after 3000 years. Which I had to say was impressive. I couldn't imagine being with anyone for that long.

The ground lift just in front of us, road coming out of nowhere that led down into darkness, one minute it hadn't been there and the next it just was. It was amazing to see but also extremely terrifying. It would be even harder to escape from the last place I was, Although hopefully, I would have no reason to try and escape. Hopefully everything will be fine.

I saw garden either side of the road as we went down and down into the darkness, but neither Edward, or his brother showed any sign of fear. They were calm, and even smiling at some of the armed men. I suppose they weren't men at all. They were vampires. Who else would they choose to guard the Queen?

The car parks in what seems to be a really big underground complex, thousands maybe more of other vehicles, cars, vans, bikes, everything you could think of really. It looks like a maze, all the Hallways branching off, I wouldn't even know where to begin to go, And I sure as hell, couldn't imagine remembering all the twists and turns. Edward got out of the car first, Walking off to meet whoever he needed to see, I knew he wasn't married or mated or whatever they called it. But he has gone to see someone. Someone important to him.

Besides, he probably couldn't wait to get away from me.

Calen turned around to face me. "are you ready to meet the Queen?"

I smiled softly at him, knowing that he would protect me, even against his own family. He promised me that much. "When is any girl ready to meet her Future mother-in-law?"

"I suppose you're right there, but it won't get you out of it."he laughed, and I was thankful he had taken it as a joke.

I'm sure there are some out there that wouldn't have.

I got out of the car when he offered me his hand, I guess it was time to meet the Queen, and the king, too.
