Chapter 96: Such An Opportunity
Chapter 96: Such An Opportunity
Nadine Black's POV:
If this is what it was going to be like, married to Damian, then I am not sure I would be able to handle it all that much. It's not like I was willing to go for this in the first place, but here we are. I didn't see how I had a choice in the matter.
In the back of my mind, I couldn't help but think to myself about how Damian was describing things in front of everyone right then before he left the room earlier. Did he not know that I was fully aware that he was trying to make a scene? I wasn't stupid, okay... But I knew I couldn't ask him that. I knew what his answer would be without a doubt. He didn't care for a woman's opinion.
By this point of the flight, I wasn't sure what to expect. I had already watched a movie that I wasn't all that interested in, even though I was the one who picked it.
"How much longer do you think it's going to be before we land?" Mathis asked, looking over at Andrew.
"Well, you don't bother me by asking," I said as I looked between the two of them. "I don't even know where it is that we're going."
"That's how it's supposed to be," Andrew finally spoke up at that moment. "And as for how much longer," he said as he turned around to look at Mathis, who sat in a chair across from me. "I don't know the answer to that either."
Earlier, when Damian and his lackeys all left the room, I'm sure they went to have some random meeting. I didn't exactly care what they were going to discuss. I didn't care to be here in the first place. What I did care about was that these drinks kept coming. However, I was going to need something to eat soon, as by this point, I had already had three.
I could definitely feel the results in my head. I didn't care if I was drunk for the entire honeymoon. And if there's one thing I know, if you had as many beverages as I did and were already feeling the effects, the last thing you wanted to do was attempt to eat something.
When you eat something after you started drinking, the alcohol in your system gets processed faster as your stomach starts to digest the food. That literally intensifies the alcohol effects, sending an even bigger rush to your brain. But lucky for me I had to bodyguards who would ensure I didn't stumble and fall my face.
If there is one thing I knew about Damian, I knew whenever he did like to drink, that he didn't skim on the potency of his beverages. He always made sure to have top-of-the-line stock, and my top-of-the-line choice was the best vodka available. That was the potency part of my drink.
As for me, I didn't really like anything else. Anything that smelled strongly of alcohol or tequila, for that matter. Yuck! I especially couldn't stand the smell of beer either, let alone attempts to taste something that tasted dead after it had fermented in the sun for as long as it took to get something like that. How can you stand to drink something like that? I would never...
Suddenly, as this particular movie came to an end, I just so happened to hear a bit of commotion coming from the back cabin. Andrew, Mathis, and I all turned our heads around to see several men coming back this way. Sure enough, I guess they were finished with whatever meeting they needed to discuss regarding my honeymoon plans. It was anything else I didn't care to know.
"Nadine," Damian said once he came into view. "We are going to be landing here shortly. I need you to buckle up."
Despite the fact that I was still sitting down, I could definitely see the room starting to spin around just enough that I started to notice. I turned back towards the front of the plane, to the captain's chair I was sitting in, and crossed my arms in front of myself. I even started pouting as if to put on a show. I should've known better. Whether I was tipsy or not, Damian would fall for it. He never did.
"Someone buckle her up," Damian said at that moment.
And just like magic, one of his lackeys did the job. However, this time I was surprised that it was actually Clay who walked over, as Andrew and Mathis had taken their seats where they had set previously, fastening their own seatbelts.
"It's you," I said as I reached forward, trying to hold my one finger straight as I attempted to poke him in the shoulder.
"Settle down, Mrs. Black," Clay said in an instructive manner. "We have a lot to do today, and a lot I'm sure you don't want to miss."
"Thanks, Damian," I said right then. "I do believe I understand what you're trying to get at. I am unable to do anything for myself as you think."
Damian didn't say anything as he sat down in the chair across from me. I still crossed my arms and looked back towards the front of the plane as the credits were playing on the small screen on the wall. Leaned over to one side, crossed my arms, and placed my chin in the palm of my hand as I started to pout.
"You know what?" I called out as nobody else was bothering to have any sort of conversation at this time. "I'm hungry. I need to eat something."
"We will get something once we land," Damian spoke up at that moment.
"But I don't want to wait..." I started to say as I attempted to whine whenever I looked over at Damian out of the corner of my eye before turning my head and attempting to set it up straight, as I could tell it was starting to bobble about. "I need you to eat something now before I get nauseous."
Damian reached up as he placed one elbow on the armrest of his chair, leaned forward slightly, and began to rub the bridge of his nose. Oh... I thought to myself. Am I frustrating him in some manner? Good... I was pleased by his reaction.
"Andre, go and retrieve her some pretzels," Damian said as he finally dropped his hand to his lap. "That way she has something, and she won't get sick on me."
