Chapter 88 - The Unforgiving Luna
"Or maybe it's all in your head" I said, stepping forward. Seeing Grayson made me think of everything he had confessed.
To be honest, it was hard to control my emotions and body when I saw the person who destroyed my life, sitting there and acting like a King.
I badly wanted to do the same to him. I wanted to cause him the same pain he caused me. A thousand times more even.
"You came still. Where is Kieran?"
"Why? Are you afraid?"
"Afraid?" He chuckled "Does he still think he can beat me?"
I didn't answer that but my silence made him think I was agreeing.
His lips curled "I wanted you to bring him here"
"You said no such thing"
"I don't care. You spoiled the fun and she'll pay" he pointed towards Ava and when I looked, I saw how her eyes had widened as the men closed in on her.
One of them yanked her hair and another was able to throw a punch to her face very quickly.
I let Kira take control for a moment as I rushed up there. My head illusionally changed to that of my wolf's as she roared at their faces and I grabbed the one who yanked Ava's hair.
I plunged my claws through his chest and smashed his head into the wall, noticing the other one approaching from behind me.
I ducked In time, holding his legs and pulling it out as I stomped on his face several times.
I was breathing heavily when I was done and the next second, Grayson began to clap, still calmly sitting there.
"Impressive, Hazel but what was that?" He chuckled hard as if it was something really funny.
I ignored him, removing my jacket to cover Ava's body as I untied the rope holding her to the chair.
Grayson just watched me and it was strange how he wasn't stopping me.
What was he planning?
Ava hugged me tight when I helped her up. She was covered in beads of sweat and she broke down in a sob.
I felt my heart clench, patting her back down as I told her it would be okay.
Williams was still waiting outside. Waiting for my signal which I was about to give when someone rushed in.
It was a man in suit and he rushed towards Grayson and whispered something to him.
Grayson's lips curled when he met my gaze and I couldn't help knowing something was wrong.
"Just as I thought, Hazel. Kieran really did go up there. You played tricks with me and you expect to take her safely?"
I wasn't surprised at this. I never trusted him to let me have my way.
"If you said I played tricks then maybe I did, but we both know, everything is going according to your plan isn't it?"
He didn't laugh at that like I expected. His gaze was pretty much serious as he stood and approached me and I let Ava stand aside so she wouldn't have to see his ugly face.
Okay, he was pretty handsome but he has always looked ugly to me.
He stopped in front of me and tilted his head. "I think you didn't get what I meant. I doubted Kieran would let you come here yourself so I guessed you all had made a plan when I confirmed you were really coming."
"It was simple actually. Killing two birds off with one stone"
My brows drew together in a frown "What was simple?"
"Getting Kieran away from you but bringing him here anyways"
"What do you mean?"
"What I mean?" He chuckled darkly "I'm just telling you about the possible death of your beloved"
'He's bluffing. Don't believe him' Kira tried to assure me but the worry that continued to grow in my heart couldn't be stopped.
The door opened again just then and a familiar voice I wasn't expecting to hear sounded.
It was none other than the Queen's.
"I heard the bitch is here"
...
Kieran's Pov.
Williams had reported that Hazel had arrived and I too.
I took the back entrance that was only known by a few.
Though I suspected Grayson might have it locked up but I was surprised to see it was still there.
I connected with the spy once again and he managed to make sure no one was in the throne room before my arrival.
"Great" I told him, hung up and contacted one of my warriors who were still waiting for my order to bring in as much men as possible.
"Get ready" was all I said before I hung up again. I was just making sure to keep them on their toes and leave no room for mistakes.
Eloise call entered just then and I answered.
"I received your order. Some of the executives already pledged their loyalty to you and I gave them the instructions."
"Good" I said "We cannot trust all of them. Just in case, you should be ready to enforce plan B"
"Alright. Alpha Orleans changed sides just now" Eloise informed me and I stopped in my tracks not because of what she had said but because of who had just stepped in front of me, blocking my way.
It was the polished shoes I saw first, making a strange emotion swirl in my eyes, an ominous feeling grew in the pit of my stomach as I raised my head to see who it was.
Raiden.
He was just standing there, wearing his usual smirk with his hands in his pockets.
He looked different. Thinner than I remembered but his aura was thesame.
Mysterious.
"You're back?" I uttered.
"Yes, Kieran. I'm back" he spread his hands out to me which was not unusual of him but I didn't take it. I didn't hug him. I accessed him instead.
"I'm glad to see you alive" I tried not to show how much relief I felt to see him able to stand in front of me right now "You look strange"
"How so?" His lips raised with a cocked brow.
"Like you're here to stop me" it was already strange meeting him here like this. The last report I got was that they were still looking and found no trace of him anywhere and I wondered how Grayson was able to hide someone so well.
It was like a specialty.
"You're right." Raiden agreed "I'm here to stop you, Kieran. You might die but I cannot let you get to the throne room so easily"
My eyes narrowed at that.
"Grayson sent you? What are you now? His lap dog?"
No matter how I thought about this, Raiden wasn't the type to submit to someone so easily. Even if he was going to die, he'd never let someone like Grayson order him around.
"I had no choice. I prayed you'd find me earlier so I could be relieved of my sufferings but you didn't. Right until the moment I gave in"
His eyes held some emotions in them, as if he was thinking about it. I couldn't help feeling a stab in my heart as I wondered what Grayson must have done to him.
For him to feel this way. For him to get to a desperate point.
"But I'm here now. We don't have to fight." Maybe it was because I couldn't bear to.
Raiden was a friend and the only brother among others I could trust with my life. He was annoying and often mischievous but that was it.
He would secretly look out for me, always wanted to be around me and sometimes, he hurts the people who dared to talk shit about me.
I talked about my problems with him and he did the same with me.
I couldn't hurt him.
And Grayson knew this very well. Which was why he sent him to me.
Did he know I would be here or did he just get lucky in his calculations? I couldn't tell but what I knew was that, I needed to get to that throne room as soon as possible.
I couldn't wait to talk him out of this.
I searched his eyes for any signs of all of these to be an act but I found none. It looked like he had really switched sides.
"Have fun stopping me then" I pushed him aside and very quickly, rushing up the stairs in a bid to outrun him but he threw a dagger.
It would have been lodged into my head if I hadn't stopped at that very second.
I was a bit shocked but I didn't let it show on my face as I narrowed my eyes at him.
"I told you, you would have to go through me first" he snarled at me.
He lunged forward, the hidden weapon under his sleeves glinted, the sharp blades clearly visible to me, making my lips curl as I just stood there, without trying to defend myself.
His expression changed at the last moment when he saw I wasn't doing anything but too late. He had already aimed the weapon and it plunged mercilessly through my chest, sending splashes of my blood staining his face.
