Chapter 86 - The Unforgiving Luna

Kieran's phone rang just then and he picked it up from the bed side table.

I saw it was Ava calling him.

Kieran's brows drew together as he answered it.

"Kieran..." her voice sounded like a tired terrified whisper "Help me.... help me please. He's going to kill me"

"What are you talking about, Ava? Who is going to kill you?" I found myself asking as my panic level rose.

"Is that you, Hazel?" She sounded surprised then she continued, knowing she didn't have time "Grayson is going to kill me. He's chasing me with his men. I don't know what to do"

"Where are you?" Kieran asked.

"I'm hiding in one of the guest rooms. Under the bed"

"Did anyone see you?"

"N-no"

"Calm down and don't hang up. Hold your breath if you sense any presence" Kieran told her and she murmured something in return before we heard the door.

There were sounds of footsteps.

It went on like that for a minute until we heard Ava's scream and someone else taking the phone.

"It's Kieran..." the other person chuckled. A voice I couldn't recognize as he passed the phone to someone else.

Grayson.

"Hello, Kieran" came Grayson's voice from the phone.

"F-uck!" Kieran cursed under his breath.

"You bastard. If you dare lay your hands on her--"

"If I dare?" Grayson interrupted, his voice sounding like a maniac "Because you dared me, I will make sure I f-uck her six ways and send you a video. How about that?"

"You fu-cking asshole. You better not lay your filthy hands on her or else..." I couldn't help revealing myself as anger bubbled inside me.

"Oh, Hazel. I knew you'd be right there. Now let's see..." there was silence on both sides for a while before he spoke again "How much do you love dear Ava here? More than you love yourself perhaps?" he chuckled crazily but there was something menacing in his voice when he spoke again "I will give you an hour to come to the palace. You'll watch me become King and I'll take you. In exchange, I'll let go of her"

"Is that all?" I asked him and Kieran glanced at me, but he didn't stop me. He must think that I had a plan and yes, I did.

"Oh, don't get smart with me Hazel. There are rules you have to follow--"

"I don't care about the rules. I'll come to you if you want but you have to make sure you don't hurt a hair on her or you'll regret it"

"Threats? I love this" he whispered "Once again, you'll have to follow my rules. Trust me, you have no chance of playing that game you're thinking about"

I bet he wasn't expecting me to give in so easily. It made him suspicious.

"Ava means a lot to me. And all I'm going to focus on is saving her. I don't care about myself or the game you think I'm trying to play but what can I say? People like you, selfish bastards like yourself probably won't understand this"

He was quiet for a while before he spoke again.

"I'll give you an hour then"

"Two hours" I bargained.

"Fine" he agreed "I bet Kieran will be there too. Everything will be perfect"

"Because you'll make him watch me die?"

"Oh, I'll do more than just that, angel. Do make sure you convince him to be there for my coronation tonight"

I shared a glance with Kieran after he hung up and Kieran stood up, taking his shirt with him and putting it on on the way as we went out the door while I followed him.

I opened my mouth to say something but he cut me off.

"You don't need to explain. I know you said all that to buy us time"

"No. I'll really go" I said and he stopped in his tracks, turning around to look at me.

"What do you mean?"

"Grayson is not that simple. Once he notices we were just going to buy us time, he will do something disastrous to her"

"No, Hazel. I can fix this. I can save Ava and you don't need to sacrifice yourself"

"I'm not sacrificing myself. I just have to act as Grayson's hostage for Ava to be fine" I said "Everyone will be alright if we have a good plan. So that is what we should focus on"

"I'm not letting you step anywhere near him"

I swallowed, stepping closer and wounding my hands around his neck "You're scared" I could see that fear in his eyes and I swallowed "I'm scared too, Kieran. Everything could go wrong but we have to try."

I could see he understood what I wanted as he kissed my hands and patted my hair down, his jaws clenching as our foreheads touched.

Kellen arrived just then and we entered a room where a few other men joined us later. There were leaders of the different batches of warriors owned by the Silver Moon's pack.

"Grayson talked about rules. I'm sure it's something to make sure we are up to no tricks"

"Knowing Grayson, It will be thorough" Kieran added and I nod my head to that.

"We will follow every rule he gives to us until we get there and we save Ava then we can act according to the plan"

"How about the coronation?" Williams asked.

"It's not going to happen" Kieran answered "I have a way to stop it"

Kieran held my gaze since he had just told me about what Ethan had given him. I could trust that it would do it's job well.

"Kieran won't be coming with us"

"Why?" Williams was surprised.

"Because he will be busy. And what more? We can't let Grayson's plan sail smoothly"

"So, I guess I'll be taking his place?"

"Yes" I nodded. "Since Kieran is insisting, I will let the shadow guards follow me but Grayson must not notice them"

"They're very good at their job, Luna. They've been protecting you all this while but you have no idea"

"I do" i glanced at him "From the day he left for that war. I have noticed them but I wasn't sure what it was so I ignored it"

"I guess we need to do better then" Williams sighed.

"Thirty minutes is up from two hours he gave us"

"We can't get there in one and half hour. It's a three hour drive from here to the palace"

"That's why I'll be behind the wheels" I said "Kieran will take the warriors too"

"We are all set" one of the men announced and we exited the room.

I saw the red car that was already waiting and Ryan was next to it. He didn't say anything to me. He just hugged me and whispered.

"I know you'll come back safe"

I smiled and patted his head "I will"

Kieran caught my waist from behind as I let go of Ryan and I turned around, wounding my hands around his neck as our lips met.

I didn't know why but the kiss felt somewhat like a goodbye. I held on and couldn't let him go. Why do I feel this ache in my heart? Am I even doing right thing?

"You're doing the right thing, Hazel" Kieran pinched my nose when he noticed I was beginning to feel doubtful.

"We are not just going there to save Ava. We are going to destroy everything. We'll put everything back in it's place and as for Grayson, he will get what he deserves"

I released a breath with a smile as I looked up at him to see him smiling back at me.

He kissed the top of my head and uttered those words again "I love you"

I felt butterflies in my tummy as a smile graced my lips "I love you too, Kieran"

"The most beautiful words I've heard today" he kissed me one more time and then I was ready to go.

"Be careful out there" I called out to him as he waved at me.

"I'll take care of her" Williams told him, entering inside the car as I started the engine and soon, we hit the road.

Road to the tigers den.

Kieran's pov.

Her plan was brilliant as long as Grayson didn't suspect anything but that was the flaw in it.

Grayson was not all that trusting.

Now, we could only hope that it went as we wanted. It was like a game where one wrong move could completely finish you".

Grayson couldn't kill Hazel yet since he still needed her blood and what more? He needed to do some more cleansing as we already had s*x, ruining everything he had done in these past few weeks he had taken hold of her.

Still, he could hurt her and I was afraid of that.

Hazel couldn't be all accomodating especially since he was the person behind her parent's death.

And yet, here I am, unable to be by her side as I had to divert Grayson's attention for the plan to work.

I brought out the new phone I had gotten and dialed a series of numbers.

It was a spy guard I had placed in the palace to keep an eye on everything that was happening in there.

He answered after the fourth ring.

"What is he doing?" I asked and I didn't need to specify who I was talking about.

"He hasn't come out of his room after rushing in a while ago"

"The King's room?" I frowned

"Yes. He has been using the King's room all this while since he would be crowned King soon"

"How about the Queen?" I asked.

"She knows about everything and she supports him"

Of course she will.

"Alright. Find a way to get me inside the throne room before everyone else"

"I'm afraid that will be hard. The Ministers and all the high executives are all gathering already"

"Then take care of it. I don't have to tell you what to do"

"Yes, Alpha" he answered without asking any questions and I hung up, taking another direction with my car as I raced towards the palace.

Thoughts raced in my mind too.

How was Grayson able to influence those Ministers after such a shady coronation announcement at this time of the night? Even the King couldn't do that on a normal day.

I had a feeling things were not really as they seemed.
