Something Is Coming….Bigger Than Their Imagination.
Bethany's POV
I looked at the strange creature and I tried to make out what was going on and if I did not mishear him.
"What did you say?" I asked to walk a little bit closer to him but Anette drew me back, warning me about going a little closer to him but I told her that I was fine and she should not worry.
"Trust me you….," I was saying but I heard a loud scream from behind and I saw the creature get alerted immediately taking a defensive pose.
I turned around to see a little kid staring fearfully at our sight and I am sure that she must have gotten scared by the presence of the strange creature.
"Don't cry Mom would chase the strange creature away," the mother says carrying her child and hurrying out of the place leaving only me and Annette in the place.
I turned my eyes to look at the creature that seemed to be mumbling to himself and I decided to calm him down.
"What did you mean by asking me to help you?" I asked, staring from there trying to get him comfortable with me and it looked like it worked a bit because he turned to look at me.
"They are greedy, they are not going to let anyone off," he mumbled, shaking his head and me and Anette exchanged looks wondering what he was talking about. Who is not going to let who off?
"You can do nothing to stop them, they are going to come like a storm…something big," he says shaking his head and I wondered what was going on that I could not hold a conversation with him.
I noticed some policemen making their way into the mall and I was disturbed wondering how they were going to take care of the situation, they were not going to hurt him, right?
"Can you please tell me what you meant by what you just said, I need to understand you to help you," I yelled looking at the man but it was like he was not listening to me and it was in his own world.
"They are coming, something unimaginable…they are going crazy they are coming," the creature kept chanting while holding his head.
I was trying to calm him down but I saw the policemen surrounding him with guns in their hands and he opened his eyes immediately.
He could sense them? I thought he was too disorganized to hear their footsteps.
"Don't you dare move…," a policeman was saying but that was the time the creature got jumpy.
"Pahhhh!" The loud sound of a gunshot filled the air followed by a heavy growl. "Grrrr!" The loud sound filled the mall and it was deafening enough for anyone not to notice.
After the noise died down and heavy slumped sound followed and when I opened my eyes to see what transpired I was surprised to see the creature on the floor in his pool of blood.
What? Did he just get shot? Was that gunshot meant for him? I thought I looked at the hairy body that was slumped on the ground and I watched as the police circled him.
I was beyond grief to look at what was going on. Why was he killed when he had not even harmed anyone? I decided to confront the officers for doing a bad job but Anette held me back.
"Where are you going to Miss?" Anette asked and I jerked my hands away. "Going to complain, of course, they did a very bad job harming an innocent man so did you think I should sit and watch?" I asked and Anette hissed.
"An innocent man? Did you think a creature like that posing a threat to thousands of residents of this city innocent?" Anette asked and I was dumbstruck.
Could he pose a threat?
"Did you think if you shift here right now, the gun would not get aimed at you?" Anette asked and I gulped my saliva in fear of hearing her words.
It was true, normal civilians think it's right to eliminate anything they see posing a threat even though the thing might not get harmful but I still think they should have given him more chances though.
The policemen walked to us asking for our statement about what we could say about the creature so I decided to use that to support my grievances.
"He does look scary but he does not look like he wanted to harm anyone," I say, hinting that they shouldn't have shot the innocent man and the policeman chuckles.
"So you mean a hairy strange creature that no one has seen before probably comes to the mall to pick up some clothes," the policeman says sarcastically and Anette gives me the 'I told you so' look.
Of course, they were not going to believe that it was harmful so I kept the thought to myself still remembering what the creature was mumbling.
"They are coming, something unimaginable…they are going crazy they are coming" I kept repeating those words in my head and I don't know why it sticks. What was he trying to say? And what is coming?
"Thanks for your cooperation Miss but to be on the safer side next time, you should just run from things like that," the policeman said, warning us and I scoffed.
Who was that advice for?
I watched as the policemen carried the strange creature out of the mall and I do not know why I felt weird like something was coming…something we were all unaware of and something that we were not prepared for.
Something big was coming.
"Let's go, Bethany, I am still getting creeps from that creature," Anette urged me, dragging me from where I stood erected at and I shook my head moving from the place but I knew whatever we were running from now was soon going to come knocking on our door.
