A Commotion At The Mall
Bethany's POV
I waited for Anthony to say something over the phone after what I said but he went silent and the silence was starting to get awkward.
Was he not one that asked for a reason? And a reason I give.
"If you are not saying anything more then I think I should hang up…" I say trying to end the call since I see no reason not to but Anthony's voice stops me.
"Did you mean what you just said? Or are you just trying to scare me away?" He asked and I scoffed at how he thinks highly of himself.
"I do not care if you believe me or not….bye," I say hanging up on the call and I dropped my phone back on the table trying to get myself to work again but my phone buzzed up again and I got annoyed with that.
I picked it up without even checking the caller and I started ranting.
"Can you please stop calling my phone and let me breathe!" I bellowed, already tired of Anthony's sulking behavior. What was wrong with him?
"Babe, are you alright?" I heard a soft voice ask me and I wanted to berate Anthony to stop calling me babe until I calmed my body down trying to register the person's voice.
That wasn't Anthony's voice, right? I thought and I bit my lips remembering who the voice belonged to without even checking the caller ID.
It is Carson! My mate.
I just mistook my mate for that greedy bastard, how could he mess with my composure, I cursed and I quickly got myself back on track so that Carson would not suspect a thing.
"Hi," I greeted cheerfully but I could sense that he was not buying my little acts but I could not blame I would also smell something fishy with what I did.
"Were you speaking to someone before?" Carson asked and I chuckled awkwardly. "Yeah….a friend…from…college…just hanging out stuff," I say uneasy and I also would not believe myself if I were me. I am such a terrible liar.
"A call from a friend from college could get you so disorganized," Carson teased and I smiled.
"So what's up why did you call?" I asked changing the topic to make the conservation less awkward. "Hmm, I am sorry but I called to tell you that something came up at work and I have to leave the city quickly and our date night not hold," Carson says and I feel him apologetic.
"Ok that's fine, you should have fun," I say gently with no hard feelings knowing that was one of the weights he has to shed as a CEO of a large Corporation.
"You are not angry?" He asked and I shook my head. "No, I am not so run along I would be waiting for you to come back," I say and we both exchange kisses and how we are going to miss each other.
The call ended after a while and I immediately felt lonely. What was going on with me, I thought.
"We are going to miss him," crazy Beth says and I agree.
The school activities ended and I and Anette was already on our way to the mall to get something Annette needed. Since I do not have a plan for the evening my friend does not care to drag me asking.
We both roamed the mall looking at different stuff and I got tired looking and I started blaming myself for following Anette the shopping demon out.
Anette was known for her infamous shopping skills and even though she might not buy much she still took it upon herself to move around the mall.
I left her to check out other floors herself while I stayed in the clothes section but I suddenly heard a commotion.
"Run everyone there are monsters!" I heard a scream from behind and I saw people scattered around the mall and I immediately got alerted wondering what was going on and crazy Beth quickly got alerted wondering what the people saw for them to be in so much panic.
"Have you seen what the people are fleeing away from?" Anette asked and I could see that she was also in defense mode but I was too occupied looking around the floor trying to whiff off any strange smell.
I could not shift at the mall because there are people who are not aware of our existence and I would not want to give them a scare but I was also not letting my guard down.
I heard a loud growl and the people in the mall shrieked and I was surprised to hear the sound of the growl when I could not sniff any presence of the creature.
What was going on? I thought but I suspended my thoughts when I felt the creature walking towards the floor I was and I smiled.
He was making my job easy. I cracked my bones ready for an action waiting for the huge creature that has imbibed fear in people to come to meet me.
"Be careful, Beth, we can't be too sure of what this thing is, you know we can not even smell him," Anette warned and I nodded my head. She was right.
I can not let my guard down.
I was surprised to see the creature in front of me. I do not want to call it a human or an animal. He was too hairy and he had fangs too. What is supposed to be a wolf?
Regardless of what it was, I took a defensive pose showing that if it attacked me and Anette would rip him off but the next thing I heard got me frozen in my tracks.
"Help me!" The hairy creature says with a pitiful look under its hairy eyes and I wondered if I had heard it wrong.
Was he just asking for help? I pondered not believing my ears.
