When Fanny Luis and Melissa pranced into the spacious exquisite office of my very self, they met no one. Surprised and dumbfounded they stood frozen and star struck at the splendor of the office which had an ocean view and land scape display. The cushion, and picture frames were made of pure gold and diamond. Even Fanny in his years of being a billionaire couldn’t afford the office.
Melissa let an aura of irritation on her face but inwardly her heart melted at my taste of luxury. She never knew the once ragged, destitute boy had good sense of wealth. She couldn’t take her eyes off the plagues of awards and recognition I had received in such a short while as the Chairman of the Saint Don Group. She smacked her lips at my hot, dashing picture on the wall; I was well-suited , with designers sunshades on my eyes and diamond bracelet and watch . When we were married she couldn’t see much of those thick pink lips and lush beards.
Indeed wealth had morphed her destitute ‘Brian Patrick’ into a puller and a charmer. She wondered how much of the beauties and damsels those pink, moistly lips of mine had pulled. And all of this wouldn’t have been possible if I hadn’t known my true identity; she thought.
When they heard the elevator beep and the glass door open automatically, they flinched only to see me in the splendor of my cuteness and a handful of security as I barge in.
Quickly the security gave way for curvaceous, angelic looking maidens with auburn, ponytail and braided hair style and in expensive tight skin suit , to take over.
They bowed and a few squatted to polish my shoes , while the rest got busy massaging my shoulders and run a quick make over on my face.
Fanny whispered to Melissa, “Come on, are we also going to wait for that? Next he might tell us he wants to have a quick mouth wash and a shower. His wealth has eaten into him.”
Fanny had whispered thinking it was just a whisper, without knowing the ear pod I had in my ears magnified his voice and let it sound in my ears.
“And what happens if I keep you waiting while I have a mouth wash and a shower,” I said aloud ,turned my thunderous stare at them , raised my arms and the maidens paused and bowed before leaving.
Fanny raised a brow and stared gaping at me wondering how I heard what he whispered into the ears of Melissa.
Melissa lowered her gaze feeling ashamed of herself and unable to lock eyes with her ex husband.
For chrissake that cute, elegant trillionaire behind the desk was her ex-husband; she thought as she fondled with her hands and nagged at the tears that were beginning to burn her eyes.
Fanny bowed his head slightly; he didn’t want to bow to a boy he once thought was a castaway; a boy that couldn’t afford a place in his dog’s house. He deemed it embarrassing that he, the richest mogul in Rio Hondo was bowing to me, who happened to be the world richest man according to Forbes.
Aside being richer, he had to bow to me because the contract and seal of office of the Fanny Group demanded even more. He was about falling short of wealth and power and never in his life had he thought that this day would come.
Right now standing before me, with his hands knotted behind his back like a student standing before his teacher, he felt like hanging from a noose. He caught sight of the executive chairs and thought I would be fair enough to give them a seat.
“What brings you to my honorable office, Fanny Luis?” my jaw dropped as I asked in an informal tone before his cheeks curved.
Fanny swallowed hard, wondering that Indeed I had inherited wealth that I could now address him by his first name. Fanny Luis almost asked if this was not Brian Patrick that called him chairman and there was also need for him to ask Saint Don if I was actually his child . The fact was that Fanny Luis was still in doubt of my true identity; it was one away he could fight the regret panging in his heart; regret over treating me, the world richest as a piece of rag; regret over underrating me as a poor son-in law and instigating his daughter , Melissa to divorce me.
Fanny intoned, “Okay, Brian Patrick, the world richest man…”
I yelled at him to correct him, “Not any more , Fanny. Mike Don is the name; and it will be most appreciated if you call it with your head bowed,”
Melissa dragged a furrowed brow at her father. Quickly she lowered her gaze as Fanny continued.
“Apologies the world richest man,” Fanny tendered and bowed.
I gave a firm nod, “Very good,” I sounded and cupped my jaw to listen yet further.
“Too many tragedy has happened to the Fanny group in such a short while. First I would like to talk about the oil and gas contract which you retrieved from me. Please your father Saint Don awarded me that contract because he found me worthy. Please,” he went down on his knees and molded his arms to plead, “The Fanny Group needs that contract more than breath and life itself. Second upon getting home yesterday, we got a letter from the ministry about the withdrawal of our license to operate. When I got to the ministry I was told you commanded the withdrawal of my license , please, the world richest man…” he apologized with his sorry face and tears trickled down his cheeks as he choked on his words.
I narrowed my gaze at Melissa and noticed she was struggling to sniff back tears.
“Fanny Luis, I can’t award such massive contract to a company that is about to face bankruptcy. As for your license I gave the ministry a standing order to withdraw your license.”
“But why?” Melissa finally asked, “Why would you seize the license of an innocent company?” she broke down in tears alongside her father.
“Really? Innocent?” I replied and stared blankly at them…
