Chapter 92
Chapter 92
So, after Terrence told Sawyer he had perfectly completed a project, Sawyer called another shareholders' meeting and brought up Terrence's good results.
"Ms. Smith, last time you said Terrence wasn't capable. Now, what do you think?"
Sawyer asked me with a smile.
Even at this moment, he didn't notice the strange looks the directors around him were giving.
Terrence was naturally very proud too, sitting beside Sawyer with his head held high, like a peacock.
My fingertips lightly tapped on the table in front of me. Looking at Terrence and Sawyer, I smiled.
"Well..."
"Terrence's ability is indeed pretty good. He hasn't even taken over yet, and he's already fired so many people from the Johnson Group."
"Actually, most of those people were from your side, Mr. Wheeler."
Seeing Sawyer's confused look, I smiled again. "Mr. Wheeler, didn't you know?"
Then Sawyer looked at Terrence.
In this situation, how could Terrence possibly admit it? He even defended himself in front of everyone.
"Dad, those people were using their seniority to act all high and mighty at the Johnson Group. I was thinking of the company's good. After firing them, the Johnson Group can bring in fresh blood!"
His heartfelt speech was really childish.
Sawyer naturally knew this, too.
But right now, he had to stand with Terrence; the people at the Johnson Group would jump out and kick both of them out.
"Terrence's thinking is flexible. Wanting fresh blood, there's nothing wrong with that."
Anyone could see that Sawyer was barely holding on.
So was I.
"Mr. Wheeler."
I suddenly spoke up, getting Sawyer and Terrence's attention. As they looked at me, I signaled Tom to put the prepared materials on the big screen.
"Ms. Smith, what are you trying to do now?" Sawyer frowned at me, probably guessing that I definitely wasn't up to anything good.
I stretched and said with a light smile.
"It's not what I'm trying to do, but... I originally wanted to give Terrence a chance, but now it seems Terrence didn't grab this opportunity."
"That project - Terrence failed."
Terrence had been so proud, but hearing me say this, he immediately stood up and said in disbelief, "How is that possible! The project was clearly approved."
"But the project you did - we lost money on it!"
Terrence probably couldn't figure out for the life of him why such a smooth project would lose money, but when all the project data was laid out in front of him, he had to admit it.
Suddenly, he pointed at me.
"Was it you! You were the one who told me to do this project. Did you set me up!"
I shrugged.
These shareholders were all smart businesspeople. They didn't care whether I had set up Terrence or not. They just saw from this incident that Terrence was truly clueless.
Everyone wanted a CEO who would lead them to make money together, not an ignorant child like Terrence.
"Meeting adjourned! This project doesn't prove anything. I'll give everyone an explanation about this project."
Sawyer said through gritted teeth with a cold face.
Fortunately, he still had some respect at the Johnson Group, so nobody pressed him on it.
I sat in my seat, watching him snap coldly at Terrence.
"Come with me, now!"
Terrence had none of his earlier pride. He immediately got up and followed Sawyer out.
After Terrence and Sawyer left, several shareholders looked at each other, discussed a bit, and then left too.
From their discussion, they also had doubts about Terrence's personal abilities.
After they left, Tom looked at his phone and immediately said, "Ms. Smith, the people we hired found Mr. Johnson."
This was what I was most worried about.
I quickly nodded. "Where is he?"
Tom told me the location, and I went there right away.
I couldn't worry about alerting anyone now. I wanted to see Michael, wanted to see Michael safe and sound.
As soon as I got to the hospital and entered the room, my whole body was almost shaking.
The moment I stepped through that door, Michael pulled me over. I was held tightly in Michael's arms.
"Nancy, it's okay now, it's okay. Don't worry anymore." Michael comforted me carefully.
My eyes were misty as I rested my head on Michael's shoulder.
"Michael, you don't know how worried I was. After you left, Sawyer bullied me too, and even tried to take your position!"
Michael and I sat together on the hospital bed. I told him bit by bit what had happened these past few days, while Michael held my hand and played with it gently.
After I finished, he said coldly, "Nancy, don't worry. I'll deal with those people one by one!"
I gripped his hand back. "You were in a car accident after all. Rest well in the hospital these next few days. Leave things to me."
Michael seemed a bit unwilling.
"I've already handled most of it. Even though they bullied me, Terrence has now gotten a reputation as an idiot at the Johnson Group. There's no way he can take your position!"
Michael suddenly said, "So everything you did was for me?"
I looked into his eyes and said with a smile, "What else? After all, you're my fiancé. You'll probably be my only fiancé in this lifetime."
This pleased Michael, and he couldn't help but hold my hand again and pull me back into his arms.
"I really wish I could keep Nancy by my side forever."
I comforted him a bit at the hospital, and when I returned to the Johnson Group, because I felt more confident, I wasn't as anxious as before.
Just as I walked in, I happened to run into Jane and Terrence standing together again. They seemed to be on pretty good terms.
As I passed by, Jane was about to speak, but I spoke first.
"Mr. Wheeler, have you forgotten how Ms. Ross abandoned you at that banquet?"
"But I see your relationship is even better than I imagined. Otherwise, how could Mr. Wheeler possibly not blame Ms. Ross at all?"
How could Terrence not care about what happened that day?
Sure enough, as soon as I said this, Terrence quietly moved a few steps to the side.
Jane's face didn't look good.
"Ms. Smith, what are you saying? That day was just a misunderstanding."
I smiled.
There aren't that many misunderstandings in this world.
Sometimes, some people lie so much that they end up fooling themselves.
I walked right past Jane, not caring what the two of them said behind me.
They were just clowns anyway.
However.
Terrence didn't disappoint me.
I didn't interfere, but wanting to establish himself at the Johnson Group, in his rush, he actually partnered with Bronte's ex-husband, Francis. The two of them worked on an internal project together.
What was originally a very solid project ended up being a money-losing deal because they both wanted to pocket some money for themselves.
I heard from my people that when Sawyer found out about this, he was furious. He just smashed that expensive decoration on his desk.
A huge crash - it seemed like everyone in the whole building could hear it.
Then everyone at the Johnson Group knew that Terrence had screwed up another project.
