Chapter 107 - Violet

My heart was thundering in my chest. I couldn’t seem to calm the butterflies in my stomach. The entire time we were getting ready, Greta was trying to calm me down. She tried the sincere route, then the point-blank route, and eventually she just let me be nervous.

As soon as I walked to the banister and looked over at the people below, I found Simon, chatting with Tristan and Tiffany. At least there were going to be a few people I knew from other packs. If I didn’t talk to anyone else, I could talk to them. I didn’t want to look at anyone else, as soon as Simon turned around the fluttering in my stomach calmed and it was just him and I.

As he escorted me down the stairs, I prayed I didn’t trip in my heels and make a fool of myself in front of all these pack members.

“Oh my god, Luna Violet, you look amazing.” Tiffany said staring at me. She pulled me into a hug.

“Thank you so much.” I smiled at her.

Tristan elbowed Simon in the arm. “You got a looker.”

Tiffany then elbowed him in the ribs. “You promised to be on your best behavior.”

“Sorry.” She smiled at me and pushed Tristan away.

Simon looked at me, his gold eyes shining. “You do look really amazing.”

“Thanks. It’s not too much?”

“Not at all.” He pulled me in and kissed my forehead.

I let out a breath. “Good.”

A pack of three younger girls walked by. “Alpha Simon.” They didn’t make eye contact and bowed their heads.

“Hello.” He looked at me and shrugged, signaling that he didn’t know who they were.

One of the girls whispered in the other’s ear.

“Uh, we wanted to meet your mate.” The taller one of the bunch said. “If that’s alright.”

“Of course.” He nudged me forward. “This is my mate and Luna of the Dark Forest Falls Pack, Violet Proctor.”

“Hello.” I extended my hand. These girls were so young and giggled.

“Hi.” The taller one said, clearly the leader and spokesperson for their group. “Is it true that you’re a witch?”

I lowered my hand and looked at Simon, with a little concern in my eyes. “Yes.”

“That is so cool.” The shortest one said.

“Shhhh.” The tall one said to her.

The tall one cleared her throat. “We wanted to introduce ourselves and say how brave you are for becoming a Luna of a wolf pack.” She glanced up at my eyes. “My name is Tracie.” The tall one said and then pointed to the shortest one. “This is Odessa.”

“And I’m Maggie.” The last girl said extending her hand. I shook it. She pulled her hand back and looked at it as if she touched something and made her hand gold. The other girls extended their hands, and I shook them as well.

“Thank you, girls. I appreciate that.”

They ran off giggling.

“That was interesting.” I laughed.

Simon wrapped his arm around my waist. “Yeah. I think you are going to get a lot of that tonight.”

“Why do you say that?”

“Tristan and Tiffany said, you have a lot of fans in their pack.”

“Better to have fans than haters. Right?”

Simon laughed. “I guess.”

Jared and Greta came up and handed me a glass of champagne.

“Drink up, you’re going to need it.” Greta shotted her glass and proceeded to grab Jared’s and shotted that as well.

I took a sip. “Let’s get this done.” I lifted the hem of my skirt and walked into the dining hall. I held my head high as I walked amongst the crowd, letting people look at me as I towed Simon behind me. I wasn’t really sure where I was going, but I wanted to look like I was walking with purpose.

I could feel a different energy in the room. Something that I couldn’t put my finger on. I looked around the room trying to find the source of this energy. I could only see people dressed up and having fun. Some wore masks, others didn’t. There were a few with hoods on, maybe to bring a sense of mystery to the night.

Simon caught up with me and put his hand on the small of my back. He leaned down and whispered, “everyone is staring at you.”

I froze and turned to stare at him.

“You’re the most beautiful woman here.” His hot breath brushed against my ear, and I could feel myself heating up.

I rolled my eyes at him.

“Let’s go take our seats.” He pointed to the stage. He nudged me in that direction.

Everyone we passed stopped talking and stared as we passed. They looked at me and then at Simon. I’m not sure if they are jealous or didn’t approve of our mating. I was already here and couldn’t escape now, no matter how much I wanted to.

There was no real theme amongst the crowd, everyone wore what they wanted. Some were dressed to the nines and others wearing nice jeans and a button down. I’m sure if I wasn’t here Simon would have worn something more casual. I didn’t care what everyone was wearing just as long as they were having fun and didn’t throw a fit that I was there. The only witch in the bunch.

Simon helped me onto the stage and even though it was a low stage it felt like I was towering over everyone. Simon walked up to the mic. He put his hand over it, leaned toward me and whispered. “Do you want to get the Luna ceremony over with now?”

I gave a small nod. “Yes, please.” He gave me a smile.

“Hello, everyone!” He looked out amongst the crowd. “It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Dark Forest Falls Pack for our annual Yule Ball.” Loud cheering came from the crowd. I looked at them and they all were happy, except for a few that were scattered amongst the crowd in hoods and masks. I zeroed in on two that were familiar that looked especially pissed off. Garrett and Layla. What were they doing here? The smile that I tried to plaster on my face fell a little. Their eyes shifted amongst the crowd, unsure of where to look.

“Alright, alright. Calm down you animals.” Simon continued. “What is even more special this year is that I am happy to announce I have found my mate and Luna of the Dark Forest Falls Pack.” Hooting came from the men of the group, while I could see the females clapping politely. Some rolled their eyes, no doubt hoping to have had a chance at Simon this year.

As soon as he said that I put a smile back on my face and looked out at the crowd. He offered me his hand and pulled me toward him. I stood next to him. My body heated up with embarrassment. This was the first time I was in front of a crowd this large.

“I would like to introduce Violet Proctor as Luna of the Dark Forest Falls Pack. Do you accept?” Simons eyes were gleaming with happiness as he stared at me.

I leaned into the mic. “I do.”
