Chapter 105 - Simon

I nodded my head and looked in the distance, trying to see if I could spot something. It was quiet.

“If I might say, Alpha. I don’t like this. Before when it was quiet, there was peace to it. This quiet has something hanging in it. Something dark.”

I nodded my head. “I can feel it too.”

After a few minutes, Bruce broke the silence. “I have us staffed for the night. I will be keeping watch and I have twenty volunteers. I have guards at the entrances of our pack to monitor who is coming in. That way if someone tries to slip by, we will catch them early.”

“That’s a good plan. If anything happens, directly link me.”

“Understood, Alpha.”

“Violet thinks there is Blood Magic involved and she’s looking up how to defeat it.”

“Did she find anything.”

“I had my grandmother help and we found this book that has a way to stop it. Violet wants to be prepared if anything does happen.”

“That’s good.” Bruce crossed his arms over his chest. “Anything the guards or I can do to help?”

“This one is going to be in her hands…our hands.” I corrected myself. We were in this together. Even though I wasn’t a witch, Remus was part of her, her familiar.

“If that changes let me know.”

“I will.” We continued to look out into the quiet woods.

“I’m going to head back.”

“Have a nice evening, Alpha. Let me know how the Yule Ball goes.”

“You’re not joining?”

“Nah. I already have my mate. I’ll let the young ones have their fun.”

“Good man.” I said, turning and laughing. I was almost as old as he was. He made it sound like he was in his seventies. I shifted and ran back to the house. By the time I got there, my lungs were heaving. The cold air was making them work harder than normal.

I walked through the door. “You better wipe your paws!” I heard the head housekeeper yell from the stairs. Remus slowly back up and rubbed his paws against the mat.

I made my way up the stairs and to the door. I scratched at it, waiting for Violet to let me in. I waited a moment, but no answer. I scratched louder. I could feel Remus getting giddy. Ready to be with Violet. Be able to enjoy some precious time with her.

The door slowly pulled open. Violet still had the book in her hand and was looking down at it. She didn’t look my way for a few seconds. “Oh Remus.” Her eyes lit up. I’m surprised she didn’t feel Remus coming. She must be very absorbed in her book.

Remus walked forward and licked her face making Violet squeal.

“I missed you, too.” She said laughing, scratching behind his ear, causing his leg to wobble.

He nuzzled into her stomach, embracing her as much as he could. I felt bad for not letting him out more. I am going to be better at that.

“Did you want to keep me company as I do research.”

Remus gave a quick bark.

“Good.” Violet walked back to the bed and sat down on it. Remus jumped up next to her and laid his head on her lap. She gently rested the book on his head, while scratching his back absentmindedly.

We fell asleep next to Violet, only to be awoken by a sharp knock at the door. Greta emerged.

“What are you doing?”

Violet didn’t take her eyes off the book. “Doing some research.”

“You better stop that; we need to get ready!” She yelled. “We only have two hours to make ourselves gorgeous and make our men have heart attacks.”

“In a minute.” Violet said still reading.

“No now!”

Remus growled at Greta.

“It’s okay Remus. Greta’s right. We need to get ready. Today is a very important day.” She smiled down at Remus and closed the book. “You can stay here and nap, but make sure Simon gets ready on time. We can’t have the host be late to his own party.”

“Come on, come on, come on! You already are gorgeous; it takes work for me!” Greta waved her hand trying to hurry Violet along.

Violet went to the closet grabbed her dress and shoes. Before leaving, she came over and gave Remus a kiss on the forehead. “See you soon.”

I could feel Remus’ heart flutter. He was in love with her as much as I was. I shouldn’t have felt jealousy, Remus was a part of me, but I did.

As soon as they walked out the door, I shifted back to human form. They were going to get ready; I might as well get ready. I had a tuxedo picked out. Normally, I would have worn a button-down shirt and a nice pair of slacks. But now that Violet, my mate, was here I wanted to dress up. She told me she was going to dress up and I wanted to match.

I will be presenting her as my Luna today. It was going to be official. She would stand next to me and help me govern this pack. She already had a lot thrown at her and I knew she was the best choice. I couldn’t imagine my Luna, my mate, being anyone else. The goddess did an amazing job.

I quickly showered and combed through my hair, pulling it back in its normal bun. I never wore it any different, and even though tonight was a special night I wasn’t going to change that aspect of me. I wandered into the closet and pulled out the suit I had bought in the town. It was the typical tuxedo, black pants, black jacket, black tie, and a white shirt.
