49 - Well Damn
~Ellie’s Point of View~

I’d been out running with Grammy for so long, I didn’t realize the most obvious thing. We were stopped at a small creek when it hit me that we must now be miles from the house. There wasn’t a spell anymore?
We have to keep going, see how far we can make it, I mind-linked to Grammy
Yes, we must, but I’m afraid I’m so exhausted, I haven’t been able to shift and run for a decade, I can’t go much further today, she said.
We walked for another hour or so at a slower pace, when I caught it! I suddenly smelled the sweetest scent that made my entire body light up, the salty wind!! The ocean!! My River, he was here!
Mate, mate must get to mate, Violet yelled in my head.
I couldn’t even wait for Grammy, I took off like the wind, following his scent.
I ran until I couldn’t run anymore, my legs ached and my lungs were on fire. But it didn’t matter, I made it. I came through a clearing and saw I was back at the house. Shit! Wait, no! Maybe they traced me here?
I couldn’t sense Grammy anymore and I cursed myself for being so stupid that I left her. Violet crept around the corner of the house and the scent was even stronger, it was coming from inside.
There was only one heartbeat coming from inside, why would he be here alone? Maybe they’d split up to look for me?
“Hello my sweet Luna,” I heard.
Oh … no … no no no!
I looked up through Violet’s eyes to see Gunner holding a t-shirt, which he quickly lit on fire.
“I stashed your idiots and Tyson on an island, thousands of miles away. Imagine my utter shock to go looking for them and find them all gone, even Tyson. Maybe they’re all friends now, conspiring against me,” he said.
He was weirdly calm, too calm. Violet backed up and promptly hit an invisible wall.
Damn it, that hurt, she cursed.
“You … are mine sweet girl, and I don’t care what they try, they will never get you,” he said, trying to reach for Violet’s snout.
She snarled at him and I realized he was wearing gloves. Why on earth would he be wearing gloves?
Just as the thought hit Violet … Gunner whipped a silver chain over her! We both felt the searing pain and Gunner quickly picked us up and moved to the front of the house.
“Now you be a good girl, let Ellie shift back and I’ll remove the chain,” he said.
How the hell could I get the strength to shift with silver on me, I immediately thought. Violet whimpered and tried to roll around to get the chain off but it just burned us in different places.
“Lilly!! Lilly I’ll get to you, I’m trying,” I heard.
Violet turned enough and focused her eyes. Grammy was hitting the invisible wall and running around it, trying to get through.
“Ohh look, an audience. Makes no difference to me if she wants to witness us making a pup,” Gunner smiled.

~Hunter’s Point of View~

Godfrey had been gone for an hour and we were all losing our shit, dying to know what was going on. No one had any other news, or if they did they weren’t cooperating. We’d interrogated the hell out of all the staff in Gunner’s home. We’d also thrown Tyson around, beating him a little to try and get anything else out of him.
If we didn’t find Ellie … or Lilly I guess, soon we were all going to really lose it. The anticipation was killing us.
Felix stormed toward us with a woman, and threw her down on the grass in front of Tyson. He was in his human form and I guessed the woman had no clue who she was dealing with.
“Tyson, who is this bitch,” he bellowed with a voice that didn’t at all match his look.
“That’s Sasha, she was Emily’s maid,” he said.
Felix had very obviously roughed up the woman, but none of us felt bad for her.
“He’ll come for me, he’ll come for me and burn you all,” she cackled.
Was she seriously delusional when it was obvious no one was coming back for her. He left her here, and it didn’t seem that he was here to defend her.
Katrina stepped forward, with Chance hot on her heels. She threw her hands out and for a moment she looked like Spiderman throwing a web.
“She’s got a forcefield around her now, she can’t broadcast anything,” Katrina said.
Chance wrapped his arms around her waist, looking proud. I picked up on what was slightly in the air … only because I’m around Chance enough to know his scent so well. He smelled like sex. I sighed. Skyler looked away, and I could see the jealousy on his face since I felt it too.
“You’re all fools, stupid fools, you’ll all burn,” Sasha continued.
“Do we have to listen to this lunatic,” River whined.
Godfrey fell from the sky in the blind of an eye, and went right to the witch.
“He’s not coming back for you, get that through your head you dumb bitch, where … is he,” Godfrey said, slowly which I knew must have been hard for him. Nothing Godfrey did was very slow.
She cackled at him. Whew, she had some balls to mock Godfrey, she clearly didn’t value her life.
“Kai is MINE, he’ll come for me,” she laughed.
My brothers and I all laughed at that. She shot us a look and before I knew it, Dina appeared, taking the girl by the throat.
“Where is my nephew, you stupid whore,” Dina said.
Susie, the little demon that befriended Ellie came forward and put her hand on Sasha’s shoulder. I had no idea what special talent or ability this girl had but I was on edge.
“He’s here,” Susie said.
We all immediately began looking around. Some fairies are actually demoted angels, some believed that demons were the leftover spirits of fairies. It varied, depending who you talked to, but few would talk about it all. Fairies were also usually telepathic, one of their most useful talents in addition to spells and magic.
“Come out, come out little Kai,” Godfrey mocked him.
There were only a few lights from houses that we hadn’t set on fire, but there were also still numerous fires around, mostly the only light.
The Blood Claw wolves that were still alive were still caged, and they all began to howl.
The ground started shaking again and I rolled my eyes. Come on already!
Felix quickly turned into his demon and scooped up Sasha, ready to squeeze her too, just needing a reason.
Two other demons came forward and morphed, they were just as hideous and I cringed.
Fucking glad they are on our side, Skyler said, over mind-link to River and I.
Rock stepped forward and yelled, “where is Lilly!”
Fire balls began shooting out of the sky and we all quickly started jumping around, dodging them left and right, there must have been hundreds of little hot basketballs.
Godfrey and the other vamps shot into the sky, fire is incredibly lethal for them, any little touch and they could go right up in flames. I tried to keep my eye on Godfrey and it seemed like he was doing something purposeful.
“Fae and witches, now! Focus,” Dina yelled.
I realized that Godfrey was chasing something around in the sky, what the hell?
Susie stepped forward and touched my shoulder, and I felt a warming sensation all over. She was sharing a vision with me, and it was of Kai and Sasha.
“Fuck! Sasha IS who Kai wants, he was using Katya to take her powers, he has them now, he drained Katya’s powers,” I yelled.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Felix made a fist, and made soup out of Sasha.
“Well damn,” Skyler said.
