50 - Never Ending
~Ellie’s Point of View~

I must have blacked out, or Violet blacked out, I wasn’t sure what happened. I woke up in the grass, naked and it was pitch black out. I sat up and slammed my legs together, I had been laying with them wide open! How damn humiliating!!
I did see the silver chain nearby and realized Violet probably got it off but maybe passed out.
I didn’t notice any soreness or anything that would indicate Gunner had done anything. I got to my feet, my first thought being to go in the house for my clothes. I glanced at the house and it was totally dark, but I had no clue what might be lurking inside. I remembered Grammy and I had shifted in the side yard and I quickly went over there. My clothes were a bit ripped up but Grammy’s were okay.
I quickly put on her maid uniform which was basic black slacks and a black and grey blouse. I swam in it, even though she wasn’t that much bigger than me. Better than nothing, certainly. Grammy! Where was she??
I moved quickly around the backside of the house, opening all my senses. I didn’t hear, see or smell anything. I walked with my hands somewhat out, not wanting to walk smack into the invisible wall.
I suddenly heard it, a faint heartbeat, it was in a steady rhythm. Someone … sleeping? My hand hit the wall but I could still see through, it was dark but since getting Violet all my senses are heightened and I can see pretty well in the dark. There!
“Grammy, Grammy,” I said, trying not to yell but be loud enough for her to hear.
She ran to the wall, naked as the day she was born, and I tried not to notice. This nudity thing was still new to me as I hadn’t been a shifter too long. But most of them didn’t seem to care.
We both pressed against the wall from our own sides.
“Did you see where he went,” I said, desperate for answers.
“He went in the house but there’s never been any lights on or anything, maybe there’s something in there, like a portal,” she said.
“Every time I’ve seen him disappear he’s been with Kai, what does a portal do,” I asked, not caring if I sounded like a dumb pup.
“A portal is something a witch sets up so a non-witch can move from place to place or to other worlds,” she said.
“You think I should go looking for it? What if I can’t get back here to you,” I whined.
“You have to try Lilly, I really don’t think he’s in there. I don’t sense any other heartbeats or anything,” she said.
I looked back at the dark house, feeling scared shitless. I instinctively touched my marking spots and knew I had to be brave. I didn’t see any way that I could be found here.
“I just found you Grammy, I can’t lose you,” I said, holding my hand up to hers.
“You have to Lilly, you have to try, go in there and see there’s something. If there is, just go through it, don’t come back out here or you’ll lose your nerve. Your fellas are being brave, I just know they are, you can be brave too,” she said.
I kissed the wall and she did too.
“I love you so much,” I said, as a tear fell down my cheek.
“I love you more my angel, now go,” she said.

~River’s Point of View~

When Sasha was killed, all hell broke loose if it was even more possible to say that. It had been the longest day and night of my life and it wasn’t over. I stood, seeing the dawn trying to creep in and there were so many bodies, so many injured.
Kai was beyond enraged and had begun throwing everything at us imaginable, and the battle waged on for hours. When we all thought we couldn’t possibly take anymore, Godfrey came back with his head and then immediately left again, with no words spoken. We burned the head, but there were no shouts of relief. No celebrations.
Felix, unfortunately didn’t make it. At some point when everyone was so distracted and involved with their own problems, Kai descended and froze Felix in place, then shattered the ice, scattering him into thousands of pieces. It was unlike anything I’d ever seen, and never wanted to see again.
I was beyond tired and aching to my bones, running from person to person, creature to creature, trying to offer whatever aid I could. I had to believe Godfrey was still trying to get Gunner and Ellie, I had to hold onto that. But … I just didn’t know.
“Help,” I heard from a small voice. I ran toward it and found Susie, the little demon.
She had a massive gash on her leg and it looked pretty awful. I hated to do it but I quickly took the shirt off a body nearby and used it to make a tourniquet around her thigh. I had no idea if she’d heal, what it would entail.
She motioned for me to get close to her, and I bent down next to her face.
“When I looked into Sasha’s memory, I saw a portal her and Gunner often used. It has to be in his home, where no one would dare go, you need to look for it, I bet that’s where Ellie is,” she said, before blacking out.
I yelled for help, and one of the witches came to see what she could do for the injury.
Susie said there’s a portal, likely in Gunner’s house, we need to find it, I mind-linked to all Warriors.
My brothers met me and we all quickly ran to the house, some of which was burned at this point and all of it had seen better days. We made a stop in the kitchen and found some bread and fruit, and ate while we walked.
“What the hell does a portal look like,” Skyler asked.
We’d always been teleported, always having a witch or fairy at our disposal.
“It can look like several things, some people make portable ones, some are fixed. I’m going to bet Gunner’s is fixed, he wouldn’t have trusted that someone wouldn’t have taken it. There will be a strong sense of magic coming from it, and likely a spell over it making anyone who goes near it want to get away from it like a keep-away spell,” Angel said.
“So, we just walk around until we feel funny,” Hunter asked.
“Yeah everyone spread out and us witches will try and find it our own way,” Katrina added.
My brothers and I went straight for his bedroom, but that would have been too obvious. I still had to see it for myself. It was dark and reeked of him, I knew the smell from our interrogations.
“All clear,” Hunter said, after moving to literally every corner of the closet and bathroom.
“There’s gotta be a man cave or some shit,” Skyler said.
We went down to the basement and roamed every inch before finally coming to a wall that made us feel like we needed to back off. Bingo.
Angel in the basement, quick, I said over mind-link.
In a flash she was there, along with Chance and Katrina.
“Just break the fucking thing down,” Katrina said.
With that, we all kicked the wall at the same time and it shattered. There was probably some mechanism to move it if he was coming and going all the time but, oh well.
It was a tiny room, the size of a shoe closet but the magic radiating out of it was unlike anything I’d ever felt. My instinct was to call for Godfrey, but I didn’t want to wait. The sun was likely up now and I had no clue what time zone … or world this would take us to.
I looked to the witches for answers.
“Can you see into it, without us actually going into it,” Hunter asked.
“Yeah really, what if it just takes us to a swamp with giant lizards,” Skyler asked. He was always terrified of reptiles in general. He wouldn’t even chase frogs as a child.
“Don’t give the universe any fucking ideas, after the day we’ve had,” I said, with a serious face.
“Nah, I think Gunner’s running scared, his witches are gone, his fairy is gone. He’s going to be desperate, we have to move,” Chance said.
We all nodded but were still waiting to see what the witches wanted to do and we were wasting precious minutes.
“We have no clue where it goes,” Angel said.
Just then, Ben the warlock appeared along with Ellie’s parents. Lilly’s parents … man I guess we’re going to have to see what she wants to be called once we explain all this.
“I’ll go,” Ben offered, jumping in the portal.
“Damn it, he’s always so…” Katrina whined.
Fuck that, we needed all the help we could get.
“I’m going too,” Hunter said and before I could even react or oppose it, he jumped in.
Skyler and I didn’t even hesitate, once Hunter was gone from view, we both jumped in as well.
