Chapter 46

I stayed laying on her just enjoying her presence. She asked me so many questions and I think for the first time I had a genuine smile. I don’t think anyone has shown that much interest in me ever. This is how I knew she was trustworthy.

“I know it’s weird to ask but how does having a mate feel?” She asked.

I looked at her and forgot she didn’t have a mate. They have soulmates but that is a different feeling.

“Having a mate is like getting something you didn’t realize you needed. When you eat, sleep, breathe… It doesn’t feel complete without that other person once you know they exist. You feel invincible and it’s an amazing feeling like there is no place you’d rather be. I loved that feeling, but I love not being hurt either. Sorry, my mate hurt me, so I just feel so angry at the bond. Having a mate doesn’t mean you end up with him.”

Her finger drew circles on my back and honestly it was relaxing. I hated how I remembered Jax. After everything, we aren’t getting the happy ending we deserved. We deserved more than that, but fate has a cruel way of saying “go fuck yourself.”

“I know I am not an expert on relationships, but I can tell you that even those you can’t live without are not who you’re supposed to end up with. They are usually there to teach you a few lessons. So, it’s okay if you don’t want to pursue it and it’s okay to feel sad.”

Just the advice I was needing. I knew it was time that I head back to my room. Tomorrow would be the day I get to have my freedom again, and my plan to kill him was a lot easier with my own people. When I got back to the room Hades was waiting up for me.

“I don’t have time for this. I am tired, my feet hurt, my back hurt, and just don’t want to hear you try to make me the bad guy.

I walked to the dresser in search of some comfortable clothes. I wasn’t showing it, but I was bloated, and jeans just weren’t cutting it.

“I love you Ryleigh, and I know a lot of excuses are not forgotten. We have a lot to work out and I think we should stay down here so you don’t run.”

I turned around to see if he was serious.

“Oh hell no. I am not staying here.”

He was trying to keep me trapped again and I was not going to stand for it. It is now or never. The entire plan is in. He had open hell up already so I could escape before he tries. I needed to be sneaky.

“It’s my final decision, we will circle back to this when the baby is born.”

Hades was scared. Maybe this is what he was planning all along. I was acting nice so everything could run slowly but he never had any plans to let me. He was smart but not smart enough.

“I am going back and this time you don’t have time to plan for the closing of hell. You need great power. I tried to be reasonable, but you want me to be at your beck and call. I am done with you, Hades. You have no respect for me, and I sure as hell won’t allow my kid to have anything to do with you. You keep tabs on everything I do and it’s not cute.”

Something I learned is that when something looks easy, don’t believe it. I knew that if I left when he opened hell, he would have done something crazy. So, I went along with it and kept quiet for a week until he came down to it. There was no more playing nice. It was time to leave and fight. He wasn’t having it though. I tried to run to the front door, but he caught me.

“I am done being nice to you, you ungrateful bitch.”

His hand wrapped around my throat, and he began to choke me. He had such a grip that I couldn’t breathe. I withdrew my claws, stuck them in his back, and tore down causing him to scream and to release his hand. I ran to the kitchen, but he caught me once again and threw me towards the counter that knocked everything of it. Hades grabbed me again and bashed my head on the refrigerator. I blacked out for a second and woke up on the floor he climbed on top of me. I tried to fight him off, but his hand was around my throat again. He was too strong for me, and I knew at this moment that I was going to die.

“What is going on?”

Persephone ran in shock, and she was just the distraction that I needed. My rage was coming back, and it was stronger than ever. The moment he looked at her was enough time for me to reach for the knife that was on the ground and plunge it to the side of his throat. His stare went blank, and the blood gushed out of him. Persephone kicked him off of me and helped me up.

“We need to go Ryleigh. You need to open the portal to go back.”

I was still in shock that I was laying there like this just happened. I just killed Hades. A stinging pain was on my cheek from Persephone who had slapped me.

“We need to go now! Shift!” She screamed.

I got up and stripped off my clothes. It’s time to go home baby. I shifted into my wolf and gathered my strength up. I started digging the ground until the portal started opening up. I waited until she walked in before I did but not before I saw the eyes of Hades go lifeless. It’s not over.
