Chapter 45
I felt helpless knowing he can put his hands on me at any time, but I can’t fight back. I stood no chance and it killed me. Learning all along that Zeus could care less what Hades does as long as he doesn’t act out. It made me sick.
“I won’t condone you placing your hands on me. I’d rather be dead than subject my child to this kind of unhealthy environment. Think about your actions and I will tell you if you’re worthy to me. If you do it again, you can consider my loyalty to you broken.”
I pushed him away for me but not before I saw Persephone on the corner just smiling at me. She gave me a thumbs up and that’s all the confirmation I needed. I talked him into letting her out and that is what he did.
“Then I will fuck everyone and won’t try to hide it. I mean we are in hell after all.”
I lied. I knew what was going on. I was the one who suggested that she flirt with him. Right now, we are laying low. But Persephone has made it abundantly clear that Hades likes someone who challenges him. He likes a fight more than the chase. So, I will play the part until it happens. He was still shocked by my words and stood there with his arms crossed staring at me.
“Alright Darling, maybe you should rest. We move tomorrow. Don’t you think you should save your energy for planning our wedding?”
That was him trying to get a rise out of me again, and he almost got what he wanted until I saw Persephone gesture her hands for me to calm down. She mouthed the words “Don’t feed into it.” So, I backed down.
“We haven’t set a date yet, so no.”
I walked out of the room and outside feeling just a little on top of the world. I finally had some hope that I might be able to return home. Me being pregnant insured he wouldn’t kill me, but he was a sadist so that meant he would always find a way to gaslight me, and he would always come back.
Hades's biggest fear was ending up alone. When he was damned from having a soulmate, he took in vulnerable women who would be dedicated to him. Sadly, after dying, I was one of them and had been with him for over a decade. Tomorrow, we begin a new journey, and I am glad that I had Persephone here. I know she didn’t raise me but sometimes I wish she did. This vision that Hades has made her out to be turned out to be the exact opposite of who she really is. Which is kind and loving. She wears her heart on her sleeve and apologies when someone does her wrong. I guess that’s what I get from her. I went outside to look at hell and just to enjoy some alone time. I sat out on a stump and just thought.
“Hey sweetheart, are you ok?”
I looked back to see her standing there. I patted next to me for her to join which she happily did.
“You know, I am scared to go back. So much time has passed, and I am pregnant too. I don’t think anyone will look at me the same.”
I rubbed my still flat stomach knowing there was a baby inside me, and I knew that I’d never allow her to feel anything of what I’ve had to experience.
“You’re a wolf, so you have a mate? Don’t you think he is still out there?” She asked.
I shook my head and here I went crying again. It was so complicated that it hurt my heart.
“He is out there because I know him…Well, I know both of them. He hurt me to the point I don’t know if we could repair that. I don’t know if I want to. I hate to say it, but I am more excited to see Alizac. He was the only one truly there for me and probably the best friend a person could ask for. He never gave up on me…”
I felt fluttering in my stomach just saying his name. It’s strange because I had not thought of Alizac romantically since the beginning and now. He hurt me but he chose to be my friend and a damn good one. Jax continued to hurt me until he saw that I was happy with Zane.
“Sounds like Alizac has made an impact on you. I look forward to meeting the man my daughter saved.”
I smiled and rested my head on her shoulder, and she held me. A hug that I needed. I missed out on the most important thing in my life.
“I don’t know how things will pan out in the end, but I do know that I won’t give up until Hades is locked up or dead. But if something happens to me after the baby is born, will you…’
I felt myself starting to choke up. I leaned close to her ear and whispered it to her. She nodded her head understanding. I wanted it to be a secret until we cross that bridge and I hope we don’t. I hope everyone would understand that too. Right now, I don’t trust a lot of people and that is from my insecurities. I could use one of my screaming sessions with Alizac. I remember that we would go out and run to an area where we could yell. We yelled until our throats were dry, releasing the rage within. I had a lot of rage because that’s what was given to me, but he helped walk me through it. Jax was the match that caused the fire and as much as I loved him and wanted him, there was too much resentment that resided between us that we needed to fix.
