Chapter 79─The secret witch meeting in the mountain lodge

Myrtle and Rose were sitting in the meeting room, waiting for the few other clairvoyants who usually attended these meetings to show up. They held it only once, at the beginning of every new season. Today’s meeting was different, though. Myrtle had requested urgent assistance when she phoned first thing in the morning.

She then drove out all the way to the mountain lodge, accompanied by her friend Rose.

“This man could be out to destroy Mishka and all her dreams as well as her future in her dad’s company,” Myrtle had told Rose over the phone after dinner on the evening that Ivan had visited her.

“So, how can we find out who he is?” Rose had asked in concern.

“We can go and consult with some other advisors if we can’t figure it out for ourselves,” Myrtle had suggested.

“We can also find someone to follow Mishka and that will help us find out where she goes frequently,” Rose suggested.

“That’s a good idea. I can also ask the servants if they know about her having a man friend in her life. Sometimes they like to share information about her, although they’re mostly loyal to her.

You know how she makes them her friends,” Myrtle had suggested with a sigh.

“Yes, we have to try everything, especially if that guy is considered to be a wolf,” Rose had agreed.

“I think I should contact the spiritual enlightenment group as well, though,” Myrtle had remarked. She was sitting in front of her mirror, talking on her cell phone.

Clara had walked in then, ready to brush out Myrtle’s hair for the night.

“Yes, we can do that. When do you want to visit them?” Rose asked.

“It would be good if we could go there together as soon as possible, so that we can remind each other about important points. I don’t always remember everything, you know,” Myrtle had suggested.

“Alright then, I will come with you, but when exactly?” Rose had asked.

“Tomorrow. I think the sooner the better,” Myrtle had responded.

Now they sipped at their tea as they waited for the others.

“Here comes someone now. She looks unfamiliar,” Rose remarked, just as they both became impatient with waiting. The only people around had been the tea lady and the secretary who was standing in for the chairman.

“She looks confident of herself,” Myrtle murmured as she smiled at the visitor from a distance.

“Good morning, I’m from quite a distance away, so I’m a little bit late,” the dark-haired visitor remarked with a polite smile as she shook Rose and Myrtle’s hands. She seemed to be about their age.

“Oh, so nice that you took the effort,” Rose remarked with a smile.

“Yes, I’m here on behalf of my niece, actually,” the new lady remarked.

“So, you’ve not been here before?” Rose asked after the visitor took a seat.

“I’ve been here before, but I’ve not attended an actual seminar before,” the stranger responded.

“Well, my name is Myrtle and this is my friend, Rose. We are here on my granddaughter’s behalf,” Myrtle continued with her chin held high. She did not want to appear desperate.

“So, what’s your speciality in spiritual matters, if I may ask?” Rose asked as she looked at the visitor closely.

“Well, pleased to meet you, first of all. My name is Mable and I’m looking for advice on solving my niece’s love troubles. She never got married because she has no dating sense, apparently,” Mable responded.

“I usually sort out people’s love matters. I help people fall in love and make good matches,” she continued with a self-assured smile on her lips.

“Oh, so you’re a love doctor,” Rose responded with a chuckle.

“Yes, Jean does not take advice easily, though. She wants instant answers,” Mable remarked as she stared out into the passage.

“I’m sure that the tea lady saw you come in. She’ll bring you tea or coffee soon,” Rose remarked.

“Mable seems impatient herself,” Myrtle thought to herself.

“So, is that why your niece hasn’t been married yet?” she asked, studying Mable’s face.

“Yes, she wants my help, but at the same time she follows her own advice and strategy as well on the side. One can’t speed up love,” Mable responded as she tapped her shoes on the floor rhythmically. She was sitting with her hands folded in her lap.

“She can’t make much progress if she follows her own strategy as well. Especially if she doesn’t tell you about it. All her efforts could blow up in her face,” Rose remarked with a concerned frown on her brow.

“She even involves stalkers. She gets people to follow this guy around,” Mable remarked.

“So, she’s very insecure and that could be what’s driving him away from her,” Myrtle remarked with a straight face.

“Stalking a man is a criminal offense anyway,” Rose remarked.

“Well, she doesn’t think so. My niece is very daring. She goes after what she wants, even if she breaks the rules,” Mable stated with stiff grin on her face.

“She will soon find out that it’s a criminal offense to follow someone around,” Myrtle remarked with her brows raised and a warning look in her eyes.

“She even follows his love interests around,” Mable mumbled as she looked around at the art décor on the walls of the room.

“Oh, that’s bad,” Myrtle responded.

“She can’t be that unattractive that her self-esteem should be so low?” Rose asked with a displeased frown between her brows.

“Oh, she’s quite attractive, with her flaming red hair,” Mable responded.

“Oh, so, she’s not a blonde?” Myrtle asked.

“This could be the person who was following me as well,” Myrtle told herself.

“It could be the same wolf who was outside our house as well, but what could she want from us because Rose and I are not her competition?” she asked herself inwardly.

“No, she isn’t blonde, why should she be?” Mable asked with her eyes suddenly large as she looked from Rose to Myrtle in surprise.

“We had a blonde stalker around recently, but she’s blonde. She has a friend whom she’s fighting with over a man,” Myrtle remarked as she now also stared at the art decorations in the room.

“But, I don’t think that she can consider us as rivals at all,” Rose remarked, looking at Myrtle with her brows raised quizzically.

“No, we can’t compete over a man with that blonde,” Myrtle replied with an amused smile.

“But, we know that she’s fighting over him with a friend of hers. Come to think of it, the friend has red hair,” Rose remarked and turned to look Mable straight in the eyes as the realization hit her.

“What are you trying to say?” Mable asked with her eyes stretched wide in alarm.

“No, it can’t be. Jean would never stalk older people. There’s no sense in that,” she continued, shaking her head in disagreement.

“The stalker is the red-haired girl’s friend, actually,” Rose remarked as she frowned at Mable in concern.

Mable stared at Myrtle, then at Rose and shook her head.

“Jean lives far from here. She can’t stalk or ask someone around here to stalk people on her behalf. Anyway, the two of you aren’t her love rivals?” Mable commented as the tea lady approached.

“Uhmm, but we might be friends with someone who is?” Rose suggested with a shrug.

“I don’t think that Jean’s rival lives here. This is a farm-like environment and Jean’s very sophisticated herself. I think her rival would be the same,” Mable responded as she smiled at the tea lady.

“I would like some black coffee, please,” she said with a polite smile on her face.

“Why don’t you take tea, then you can read the leaves afterwards,” Rose suggested.

“Oh, no. I don’t need tea leaves to figure things out,” Mable responded with another polite smile at the tea lady.

“I think we might have something in common, though,” Rose remarked after the tea lady had left.

“It really sounds like this Jean has something to do with our stalker. Then that means that this lady is a wolf herself. Can she be?” Myrtle asked herself inwardly as she observed Mable with a deep frown between her brows.

“Well, the people that we’re talking about are actually werewolves, so don’t concern yourself too much about them,” Rose remarked with a smile and a reassuring pat on Mable’s hand.

Myrtle gave her a wide-eyed look.
