A Mission with Dera

A Mission with Dera
Alea's POV

We had to make a plan and that's what all of us had gathered to do.

It had been confirmed that I was the descendant of Nara and the only one who can get the Obsidian heart out of there. I would gladly do it even if it means risking my life for the safety of the world.

I was born a Queen, born a ruler, born a savior and it's a fate I wouldn't be able to run away from even if I wanted to. But heck! I wasn't even trying to run away from it.

A set plan. A finished decision.

I would be going to infiltrate one of Alucard's inner cities and find a way to get to where the Obsidian Heart had been buried, Dera had volunteered to help me and every one had agreed to it.

Dera asked Raven and Sage to come along but they declined saying they'd stay and protect the refugee camp and I didn't know why they didn't want to take part in the mission of getting the Obsidian Heart back into the relics room.

While I'm at it, I'd make sure to bring Kairo back. Alucard had done enough to him and it's time to take back what's mine.

Dera and I set out for Valerie, one of Alucard's inner cities. Raven, Sage and the other refugees packed things for us to take along and we left, finding our way to Valerie.

It was a plan we had marked out, a city we had investigated and through the investigation, we had found out that in the main palace where Alucard frequents, they were in need of maids to work in their kitchen.

Dera and I applied, and like luck was on our side, we got hired the next day.

We stood in front of the palace walls, staring at the building. I knew that once I stepped into this place, then I might never walk out of there alive, but I didn't care.

“Nervous?” Dera asked and I threw her a smile. “No. Not when I have sister with me” I gave her a bigger smile and her eyes reassured me that everything would be okay and we would soon be done with the mission accomplished and then go back to the people who were like family to us.

The headmaid directed us to where we'd be spending our nights and assigned work to us immediately. I didn't miss a thing while we worked as my gaze studied every single thing I set my eyes on.

Dera also did the same, both of us planning how we'd get to know where the Obsidian Heart is.

A day. Two days. Three days.

It wasn't as hard as I had thought as all we did was work and follow the orders the headmaids gave. I must have thought everything was going well for us until I heard Alucard would be making a visit that day. It was so sudden and I had no idea how I wouldn't get caught by Alucard. She knows my fucking face.

“You don't need to make your presence known. I will lie to the headmaids that you are sick and should be allowed to rest. You won't need to see Alucard so don't worry about a thing” Dera assured me and I nodded.

She went out, going to attend to Alucard with the other maids and instead of staying in the maid's quarter and pretending to be sick, I patrolled the area.

I didn't tell Dera I wasn't going to stay and that I was going to look around for the Obsidian Heart, I had my reasons.

I sneaked into the main palace where Alucard was having her afternoon meal. Slipping past everyone and finding my way to her secret personal chamber, I looked around searching for clues no matter how small it was.

I barely found any but my eyes caught a stone button slightly hidden behind a portrait. Slowly, I walked to it, pressing on the button and just like I had expected, a room opened on the other side of the room.

I slipped inside, searching through everything without leaving a thing. Then I found what I was looking for, the Obsidian Heart.

To get it, I'd have to get to the fortress where I had saved prisoners days earlier. Beneath the throne Alucard had in her palace over there lies the Obsidian Heart.

I also found out that Alucard was truly hoping to awaken the demon wolf king.

But what baffled me was the fact that she won't be able to do it without bringing the Obsidian Heart out and the only person who can do that is the descendant of Nara. Me.

Does she already know that I'm alive and well?

I grabbed some map drawings and some other documents I knew I would surely get information on about the demon wolf king and the Obsidian Heart and then turned to leave when I saw Dera waiting by the door.

My heart jumped as my eyes widened.

“How did you find me here, sister?” I asked and she smirked.

“What should we call it?...” She moved closer. “The fact that I have my ways around here?” She said and I smiled widely at her.

She's smart, and bold. Just like me.

The only thing she doesn't seem to know is the fact that I wasn't stupid as her.

She moved closer to me, placing her hand on my shoulder.

“I told you to take a rest in the maid's quarter. You don't listen, do you?” She asked with a smile.

Then before I could give a response, she hit my neck, aiming for my core and she got it. It took a while but I succumbed to darkness.

Dera. She was truly my cousin but isn't with us. I don't know for sure who she's working for, but it's definitely not the Elder, I and the rest of the refugees camp.

Dera came back not for me, but to spy on us. And maybe sell us out to whoever it is she's working for.
