The Demon Wolf King
The Demon Wolf King
Alea's POV
We all went out to see Dera and I was dumbfounded. I couldn't move, and all I did was freeze to the ground.
The striking resemblance between the both of us could not be denied. She was my sister, no doubt.
Her gaze was on me as she smiled, so widely before she ran into the arms I forgot to spread.
“Is that really you? Is that you, my cousin?” She asked, as she broke the hug to take a closer look at my face.
I smiled even though I found it awkward. She wasn't giving me respect like the others and I liked it. Hell! I loved it because that's what family is. How families are supposed to relate.
“I miss Aunt. I thought I'd never get to see you forever” she said.
I got a brief history of her earlier. She's four years older than me, she's the only daughter of my father's older brother. She was also so glad that I would be born, but couldn't watch me grow when I was taken with my mother.
She cupped my face, smiling as she gave a reassuring smile. “We are okay now, we are” she smiled again.
For the first time in eternity, I felt warmth, it felt like someone wanted me.
She left me and turned to face Elder.
“Elder Darin!” She yelled and rushed to take his hands. “I missed you, I thought I'd never see you again” She said, almost crying and Elder patted her.
Darin. That was the Elder's name. I realized then that I had never cared to find out about his name since we all called him Elder.
“Why are you just coming back to us now?!” The Elder almost cried also and I couldn't help but feel heartbroken at the sight in front of me.
“I came. Over and over again, but couldn't find this place. Just yesterday, I heard rumours that the descendant of Nara is back. I didn't want to believe it and I knew I had to come here to see for myself. Then I was able to find this place” She said, and I walked over to her, placing a hand on her shoulder.
“We are glad to have you back, and I'm glad I got to know you, the only family member that had come to find me” I smiled at her, I didn't know if I was doing great but I think I was.
She smiled back at me and I could see the lack of sincerity in that smile.
They prepared a feast for her, and everyone gathered to eat lunch. The dining hall was booming with laughter and happy faces.
I couldn't stop staring at the cousin who had come to find me after hearing that I'm the descendant of the high priestess.
She caught me staring and I smiled at her, making her smile too. The feeling is good, to have families is great, but for me, this gathering isn't complete. I need Kairo, and I have to get him back at all costs.
Hours after lunch, I took a stroll and saw Dera standing in the summer garden as she stared at everything and her hands caught the petals that fell from the flower tree. I smiled to myself and walked to her, walking stealthily behind her like I wanted to attack her.
I stretched my hands forward to grab her shoulder but she turned swiftly, catching my hand before I could touch her and then we had a quick fist fight while I did everything not to let her see my face. She shoved my cloth which had been the distractive item covering my face away from my face and was shocked when she saw my face.
She quickly shifted back, stopping her attacks.
“Azura?” She called. The name my mother had given me. I smiled and then stood beside her, pretending as if nothing had happened.
“Sister, you are quite skilled in martial arts,” I smiled.
That was what I wanted to confirm.
She chuckled nervously like a child caught doing something bad.
“Of course, I should be. People like us have to know martial arts to be able to survive against all the odds in our world” she said, ending it with a smile.
“True,” I agreed. She was right.
We took a stroll together and she talked about how the garden brought her memories of me, how she'd carry me in her arms and play with me in this garden.
A smile. On my face.
“Then, is there any other place where such memories exist?” I asked and she smiled sinisterly.
“There Is” she paused. “I'd always try to sneak you out to take a look at the market and its beauty,” she said, and I smiled.
I've been smiling a lot today, I also know. But having a new person in your life who cares about you needs a smile.
“Should we go take a look?” She brought the suggestion and I embraced it. We'd be going to take a look at the market around, the market which I hadn't even known existed.
It was a beauty like she had said, and I couldn't help but marvel at what I had missed out on for years. This was supposed to be my home, the place where I run around as a kid and my mother would be out looking for me only to find me in a woman's stall eating the candy the owner had given me.
That was the kind of life a normal kid should have, but the little I remembered about my childhood was nothing like that.
Pain. It was filled with pain.
People looked at me murmuring about Nara and then I realized that the news had spread so far and wide.
Then someone said something which made me freeze. “Her mother is the founder of Obsidian Heart, but it's now in the possession of the devil named Alucard” One said.
“I heard Alucard is going to awaken a demon wolf King with the Obsidian Heart” That word got me.
Demon wolf King. The demon wolf King which had been sealed for years for almost bringing the whole world to a ruin.
I wouldn't have believed it if I had heard it from just one person, but not one, not two, but almost everyone had heard about it.
It's real.
