Chapter 14 I Want Her Out Of Here!
“Yes, that’s true.” Madam Graves agreed enthusiastically, “Do not worry Lucian,” she said, in a voice dripping with motherly affection, “I will let you have all the water you want when you’re done.”
Lucian sighed tiredly, as he uttered weakly, “Am I a kid?”
As he spoke, his eyes strayed once more to Aria who had pushed herself from the wall and was now standing close to the bed.
For the second time since he awoke, he wondered who she was. The moment he had opened his eyes, he’d met with her striking green ones.
Lucian swore he’d never seen anything more beautiful and he was dying to know who she was. But she was standing so far away and looking at him with quiet awe.
The doctor quickly conducted his examination on him, and when he was done, he looked uncomfortable.
Madam Graves was alarmed, “Why? What’s wrong?” She asked hurriedly, “Is there something wrong with my son, Lucian?”
The doctor shook his head, “No ma’am“ he said with a nervous laugh, “He’s actually very healthy, as healthy as a horse. As though he was not even bedridden for three years.”
Everyone’s eyes widened in shock as they looked at the doctor, then slowly they all turned to look at Aria, who shrugged, blinking at them in astonishment as well.
She had literally done nothing except touched his lashes. She had no idea how he’d woken up so suddenly and why he was as healthy as a horse.
“Our miracle!” Madam Graves exclaimed joyfully as she rushed towards Aria, engulfing her in a bear hug, while the other watched wonderingly.
“The Graves family now have encountered good luck! The first in generations!” The Chairman uttered laughing boisterously, “She is our Graves family miracle worker!”
Nathan and Monica were filled with jealousy and anger, but they tried so hard not to show it on their faces. Their thoughts however, were dark.
“How could she manage to wake Lucian up as soon as they met? Miracle worker, my foot. She’s still just a country bumpkin. Lucian would never accept her!”
Lucian, himself, was not laughing, “The Graves Family Miracle worker?”
“Oh that’s right!” The older woman uttered excitedly, dragging Aria towards the bed, “We forgot to introduce Aria to you.”
She was smiling so brightly, while Lucian was giving Aria a once over, his eyes cold. Aria stared back at him, a slight smirk lifting the corner of her lips at his open skepticism.
“He’s always been so aloof and arrogant,” she thought to herself with a fond smile, “Of course, a coma would not immediately take it all away.”
“Lucian, this is Aria Beaumont,” Madam Graves finally uttered, “Your wife.”
There was a moment of silence in the room, so thick that the sound of a pin dropping would be heard from across the room.
Lucian arched an eyebrow at his mom. His speech was slow but his voice, cold.“My what?!”
“Your wife!” Madam Graves uttered, still smiling happily, “This is Aria Beaumont whom you were betrothed to all along. We finally got you all to get married.”
“Here, Aria,” The Chairman called out to her fondly, “Introduce yourself to Lucian.”
“Introduce myself to Lucian?” Aria nearly burst out laughing, but she caught herself at the last minute, “Let’s be cautious now. You’re here as Aria, not Elara.”
Her lips stretched into a beautiful smile as she stepped closer to him, trying to make her voice sound as sweet as possible, “Hello Lucian, I’m Aria Beaumont. Your new wife. I’m so glad you’re awake now.”
Lucian only stared at her like he was looking at something nasty, “I want her out of here.”
Monica and Nathan snickered with mockery, while Madam Graves and the Chairman’s face turned dark.
“You unfilial child,” Madam Graves said in exasperation, “Are you going to give your mother an heartbreak as soon as you wake up?!”
“Which is why you should not have done something useless while I was unconscious,” Lucian said coldly, “Get her out of here. I want to be divorced as soon as possible too.”
“See, Mother. Father. I told you not to do something so useless,” Monica uttered, smiling disdainfully, “We knew Lucian would never allow her to be his wife. She’s just a country bumpkin.”
“Lucian is old enough to make his own choices,” Nathan uttered, raising his head in arrogance and eyeing Aria with disregard, “And this woman here is not his choice!”
The Chairman’s face turned and Madam Graves felt like strangling them from where they stood.
“Are you done talking?!” The chairman yelled at them, his voice echoing around the room.
“You unfilial children, can’t you see that Aria is our good luck charm?!”
Madam Graves uttered as she turned back to Lucian, “She made you wake up from coma after three years and you want to treat her like this?!”
“We do not know if that’s totally coincidental, so let’s not jump to assumptions,” Lucian uttered to the delight of Nathan and Monica, “it doesn’t mean I should accept her.”
Monica reached out to touch his arm on the bed, “Yes, Lucian. Don’t let anyone make you saddled with a country bumpkin bitch for the rest of your life!”
“Why you!…” Madam Graves was dumbfounded as Monica eyed Aria with disdain.
Suddenly, she felt a cold sensation on her face and turned to face Lucian who was giving her a murderous glare.
“Get your hands off me.” He bit out through gritted teeth, “This instant!”
Monica quickly backed away, shaking in fear.
She had forgotten how cold and hostile Lucian was as a person.
This was partly because he was a germaphobe and partly because he was just an all round arrogant jerk.
How could she had let herself touch him?
Did she not fear for her life?
Nathan quickly stepped forward, “Lucian, Monica did not mean any harm,” he uttered with a nervous laugh, pushing his glasses higher on his nose, “She was only just looking out for you.”
In response, Lucian glared coldly at him as well, that it sent a chill down his spine.
Husband and wife cowered together, wondering what was making Lucian hostile than usual.
“Is he perhaps on to something? Why does he stare at us that way?”
Lucian did not say a word at them afterwards but he retuned his gaze to his parents, “You all get out of here,” he muttered coldly, “And take her with you.”
He looked at Aria as he said those words, expecting her to look heart broken and down casted.
But he was shocked to see a mocking smirk stretching the corner of her lips. She eyed him once , as though there was something funny about him, before turning towards his parents.
“Mother. Father. It’s getting late. You guys can take your leave now,” She uttered sweetly, then turned back to Lucian, her green eyes flashing ominously, “I have things to discuss with my husband.”
