Chapter 28

My hand started shaking and cold sweat fall down from my forehead. I was stunned like a statue hearing the breathy, panicking, and shaking voice of Ransom's mother.

"C-Camilla...my husband has a heart attack."  my mother-in-law said that making my heart fall to the ground.

An image flashed in my mind and the first thing I think was Ransom...

Ransom how was he?

Did my mother-in-law call him already?

Is he okay?

I pulled myself together. "Mom, breathe slowly. calm down and I'll goes there now." I instructed her.

"C-Camilla please c-come faster..." she called out my name begging and I can hear how her voice cracked from the cellphone I was holding.

The call ended.

I quickly put my phone in the pocket of my pants and I glanced at Beth. "Beth, it's an emergency can you do me a favor and take care of baby Yumi? I need to go to the hospital." I said. She didn't have any hesitation and nodded at me quickly. "Yes ma'am," she replied.

I quickly run up to stairs to get my things and I quickly go outside of the house calling for a taxi. I only grabbed my sling bag with my wallet inside. I didn't bother to change my clothes anymore and still wearing sleepers that I shouldn't wear outside the door.

I couldn't keep up with my heartbeat, thinking about my father-in-law's situation and Ransom...

I started shaking my legs while sitting inside the taxi, a minute was longer than it was and I wanted the taxi to fly to get there faster.

Please, please be okay Dad...

Please be fine Ransom.

Please let everything be okay.

Minutes later as soon as the taxi stopped in front of the hospital, I just get the money in my wallet and gave it to the driver without asking how much is it. I quickly run to the entrance of the hospital to get inside and I bump into someone while running. I quickly said sorry and my eyes landed on the information desk.

I slammed the desk with my hands, seeking for air.

The nurse was surprised and ask to me what she can do.

 "Excuse me where is the room of...." I asked directly the nurse, handling the information desk.

After she find the name and the room, I quickly tried my best to find where it is as fast as I can.

While running in the hallway I found my mother-in-law blankly staring at the door of his husband.

"Mom!" I loudly said, she was surprised and quickly look at my way. "Camilla!" she called out. I quickly hugged her tight and she hugged me tighter, tears fall down her cheeks, and begin sobbing in my arms.

"What did the doctor say? Mom?" I asked to her, she sobbed more and hug me tighter. "The doctor s-said h-his in a c-critical condition,"  she replied to me.

I pat her back while she's crying. "Mom, what happened? How is Dad?" I asked to her.

"I was with him in the mall for shopping we were having a good time until he receive a call and we were fine until his heart attack suddenly attack him..." she replied.

I calm her down and after it, we go inside of Ransom's father's room. I let my mother-in-law sit for a while next to her husband." Mom, where's Ransom? " I asked her when suddenly the door open loudly.

I saw Ransom quickly go inside and run to his father. I can see how Ransom's eyes filled with concern and worry about his father.

Ransom quickly holds his father's hand and I can see tears fall down to his cheeks while holding my father-in-law's hand.

"Dad wake up... please wake up... Dad, open your eyes." Ransom's voice begged his father to wake up and I witnessed how much he cares about his father.

And it breaks me apart seeing him like this. I couldn't bear to see him crying, a strong man in front of me is crying and it tear me down, especially it was my husband.

I walked to Ransom's side and patted his back. I noticed how he let me do what I'm doing. His cry made my heart shatter to pieces and his hand holding his father's hand tightly begging him to open his eyes..

We were surprised when suddenly the doctor get inside and look at us. Ransom stopped for a moment and look at the doctor. Even my attention was quickly taken away by the male doctor in his sudden entrance.

"I'm really sorry to interrupt however this is an emergency for me to announce this as sooner." the doctor stated.

What is it that we needed to know?

An emergency that he has to just go inside casually?

"What is the doctor?" My mother-in-law questioned the doctor. "Just say it..." Ransom's voice turned serious.

"Okay, we need to bring your dad to the operating room. He needs to be operating." The doctor announced that. I can see how much Ransom's mom weakened more after hearing the doctor and Ransom. "Ransom your f-father." my mother-in-law said on the edge of crying again.

I was with them after hearing it.

my father in law is in critical condition that they have to operate on him.

What did really happen that it was this worst?

It feels like our world suddenly fall apart.

Ransom stood up from kneeling on the ground and looked at the doctor seriously, I can see his eyes is swelling from crying.

"Is there any assurance that my father will survive after the operation doctor?" Ransom's question to the doctor. The doctor fake a cough and couldn't keep up with Ransom's straightness.

The doctor shakes his head. "I can promise you that the operation will be successful..." he replied while shaking his head a few times. I didn't know what to do anymore. I can see how Ransom takes a deep breath and let it go.

Ransom and his mom sign in weaver. As soon as the doctor gets out of the room. I saw how my husband fall in the ground and tears rapidly falling from his eyes to the ground.

 "Dad wakes up, Open your eyes!!" he shouted loudly that his voice crumpled.

"Dad!!" Ransom called his father and reach out to his hand again, he started begging more for my father-in-law to open his eyes loudly that he started shouting hoping for his father to hear him.

I couldn't do anything, I fall apart again from seeing him like this. The more he cries the more I was hurt, and I can feel the sadness within him. 

I tried to calm him down, I slowly hugged him but he was strong that he resist me. This time he didn't let me calm him.

I let him cry more and his mom was sobbing again, I let them remove the pain in their chest for loving my father-in-law. You're a lucky dad that you're important to them...they love you so please hang in there.

Don't leave us... be okay.

Hours later I asked for Ransom permission and for him to go outside. I need to call Beth and asked how was Yumi doing. I left my daughter there without any assurance of what will happen to her either.

I need to make sure she's okay.

"Beth? hello?" I said. "Hello, ma'am." I smile softly when Beth answered the phone. "Is Yumi okay? How is she?" I asked.

I heard Yumi giggle in the other line. "Ma'am she's okay we were playing and I already feed her, how was sir Ransom? what happened?" Beth replied. Thank goodness...

"I will tell you when I get back, take care of Yumi for me," I answered her. After the call, I was surprised when suddenly I saw two nurses running faster and I saw them heading where I came from..

That's Ransom's father's room...

I quickly follow them and my feet stopped inside the room. My eyes widened at what I saw.
