Chapter 13

Dusk was approaching when I got back my consciousness. My eyes fell on the large window frame that I saw earlier that day. I was lying on the king-sized bed. My chest was still in pain. Bruises were visible near my abdomen. My wolf self-harmed.

I tried to take a look around the room. I slightly raised my head.

"You should not move," a soft voice pierced through my ears.

I quickly turned my head at the source of the voice. Chris was sitting on the couch comfortably. I quickly got up.

"How are you feeling now?" He asked again.

I took a look at my bruises. They were bandaged satisfactorily. I felt weird.

"Why do you care?" I asked back. "Not too long ago you were sending those demons to hunt me down. In fact, from tomorrow, you will be sending them again. Why does it matter today?" I asked.

"Who is your mate?" He asked calmly.

I gulped. I tried to remember what exactly I told them before losing my consciousness praying hard that I had not revealed anything unnecessary.

"Are you the Luna?" He asked again.

"What!" I was startled by his sudden question.

"What are you talking about?" I started mumbling.

"Don't try to hide it. Do you think I did not notice?" he said and crossed his legs.

I kept my silence. I was sweating. How could he know this before? He started talking again.

He smirked a bit. He leaned forward and asked, "why don't you tell me the truth now?"

I sighed. There was no point in hiding it anymore.

"Yes, I was the Luna. Now? What are you going to do to me? Kill me? Torture me till I spill everything?" I asked.

He suddenly broke into laughter unexpectedly. I frowned. I had never seen him laughing since I came to the castle.

"Are you mocking me? Do you think I am pathetic? Fine, I am. I got rejected by my mate. But do you know because of whom? Because of your so-called bride. Why don't you keep making fun of me here when my mate marks her and makes her the new Luna," my voice cracked due to the tears while talking.

He looked into my eyes. I was sad. Even though personally I would not care about the rejection, but I could not surpass my wolf's emotions.

"I am laughing at that wolf," he suddenly said softly.

I frowned again. What was he implying?

He continued again. "Why would he reject a woman like you?" He asked.

He suddenly got up from the couch and came to me. I was moving backwards as he kept coming towards me.

I fell on the bed again. Chris leaned close to my face. He said in a tiny voice, "I wonder what that Lycan was thinking while rejecting his mate and letting it linger around me."

He moved the hairs from my face slowly. I almost curled up by his touch. I was feeling uneasy.

His fingers kept roaming on my face to my neck. His cold hands made me shiver. He touched my jugular vein softly.

His eyes were turning red again. "This is weird," he said in a tiny but husky voice.

He did not wait for my reply. "It's weird how your scent is so intoxicating."

"I am a wolf," I said coldly.

"Why does it matter?" He asked back.

"You can't drink a wolf's blood," I said again. I could tell by his look that he was getting thirsty. I had seen this face before. When he was drinking Felix's blood.

His face was getting closer to my neck. I put my hands on his chest.

"What are you doing?" I asked him, frowning.

"What are you doing?" He asked back. "I have lived for more than a thousand years. I never felt this for a wolf before. I despised wolf blood. But why does yours have this enchanting fragrance?" he said while he kept playing with my hair. "Do you really believe I kept you alive just to get information about the academy? That academy does not even worth it. I don't need to keep a wolf alive just to figure out how to undo some mana barriers," he said.

My eyes widened. I could not believe my ears. He knew everything. My heartbeat fastened.

He got closer. I was struggling. I tried to push him away. But he gently grabbed me and buried his head in my neck, in my hairs.

He inhaled deeply keeping his head buried in my hairs. I tried to push him away, but he grabbed my wrist and sucked deeply in my neck.

My wolf started to protest. My wolf was feeling sick by his touch. She was trying to take over my body. She absolutely despised the vampires. But he was not within him anymore. My words were not reaching him.

For a moment I felt like he would bite me. But to my surprise, he kept holding onto me and slowly raised his forearm and bit it.

I blinked a few times. He was still holding me tightly.

"My lord!" Suddenly Felix entered the room and his eyes fell on us.

He could only see Chris's back and my face peeking above Chris's shoulder. Our position made it look like Chris was biting me from the front. And it was the reason why Felix was shocked.

Chris let go of my body and turned back. His mouth was covered in blood. Blood was coming out of the bitten area of his forearm.

"You have hurt yourself, my lord! Let me treat you," Felix said worryingly.

His eyes fell into me. "Your fragrance, it is getting stronger. I suggest you return to your cell unless you don't want to face anything severe than this."

He said looking at me coldly. I did not see Felix behaving like that before. He had sworn his loyalty to Chris, and he was the most loyal butler and the only vampire who was by Chris's side the whole day and night.

But I took his advice. He was not wrong. I needed to leave before Chris getting out of control.
