Chapter 14

I was lying on the daisy field on the mountain. The mountain was the only place where I could see the sunrise. The mountain was not covered in mist, unlike the castle areas.

My wolf was angry at me. She was upset, hurt and on top of that mad at me. And as a result, I was feeling a mix of emotions. I got up. I was furious. How could Eris hurt me like that? But then I became sad again remembering how short I was going to live.

My senses were intact. I heard a sound near the bushes. I turned back quickly. It was still moving. I decided to take a look at it.

When I went near the bushes, I found nothing. It was odd to me. I clearly heard something.

I decided not to stay there in the mountains. When I came down, another oddness was hovering all over the place. I could not fathom how it could change that much with just a few feet apart. The mist had thickened. The weather was dark below. No demon monsters were chasing me for a long time. I could not spot any on my site as well.

And it hit me. My wolf kept telling me that I could run away. It was a huge opportunity to run away. I believed it as well. I could make a run that day.

Without wasting any time, I started to run, shifting in the process. I chose the woods because it was easier to cover myself while running.

But after running for a while, I started to feel strange. Someone was following me. I could feel that without any doubt. But I decided not to stop. It was one last chance. If I would get caught, they might chain me for the rest of my life.

I stopped for a moment. I was exhausted. I was huffing. The person or monster whoever was following me stopped as well. They were near, hiding their entity behind the trees.

I inhaled deeply and turned to my back. I took a good look around and finally asked, "who are you? Why are you following me? If you are here to take me back to the castle, then come out and fight me. You won't be able to stop me like this."

There was no response. I knew they were still there.

"I said come out!" I yelled.

I young boy in a black cloak and a tall hat came out of the mist. I was started. He was right there all the time. He had made himself invisible.

"A wizard?" I mumbled.

"It's been a pleasure meeting you, my lady," he said formally. He bowed and said, "My name is Eden. I am a wizard of this forest."

"Why were you following me from the mountain?" I asked coldly. My doubt was not being cleared.

"I just wanted to be friends with you, my lady. I had seen you before in the daisy fields. My mamma says wolves are awful creatures. But you seemed different," suddenly his eyes started twinkling. He seemed excited. "This is the first time I am having a conversation with a wolf! Can we be friends?"

"No!" I refused right away. "And leave me alone. Don't follow me again. If you keep following me further, I am going to take this as a declaration of the fight," I said flatly.

He seemed hurt by my words. "I am not harmful, my lady," he said sadly. "All I wanted was just to have a cup of tea with my lady," he pouted.

I took a step near the boy and leaned forward and said in a cold tone," Last time someone asked me for a tea, tried to sell me to the vampires."

"No, no," he replied quickly. "Trust me we are not like those poachers! Yes, there are bad wizards like that. But we are not like that. I really just wanted to be friends. Moreover, you are a guest of the vampire emperor. How can I even think of hurting you?" He explained.

"Guest? Who told you such things?" I asked doubtfully.

"Mamma went to treat you when you were sick," he said in a tiny voice.

I recalled before losing my consciousness, Chris was asking Felix to bring a witch.

I decided not to waste any time there. I could not trust anyone there. I turned and tried to shift.

But suddenly I was pinned on the ground. I realized mana filled cuffs were being put on my hands. I started struggling.

I heard Eden's voice. "What are you doing? Let her go!"

I tried to look above. I saw a few boots surrounding me. After putting the cuffs on me, they pulled me up from the ground. I saw three vampire men. Eden was also struggling under their grips.

One guy slapped him and pushed him over the ground.

"Go back to your mamma, nasty wiz," the guy said.

They had covered my mouth. I was struggling continuously. One guy carried me over his shoulder. And within a second, they started running in the woods.

They were so fast that I could not keep my eyes open. It did not take long before we reached the castles. I was back again in the local vampire territory.

They threw me on the ground of an abandoned castle. I was still tied. I looked at them with a bunch of questions in my head. At first, I thought it was Chris who ordered them to catch me. But from their discussions, it was cleared that Chris was not even aware that I was gone.

"She looks delicious," one guy said.

"It's been a long time we had a wolf," another guy said and started laughing.

"To be honest, that bastard hates wolf blood and outlawed it for the other vampires as well and now look at him. Keeping this one all for himself," the first guy greeted his teeth and said.

"Can I have a bite?" The other guy looked at me with greedy eyes.

I shivered by their gazes. They were eyeing me as if I was some kind of roasted meat in front of them.

"She looks so pure," the first guy said. "We can do so many things with her."

Saying so the two guys started taking steps near me. Their eyes were glowing. Whenever these vampires would get thirsty, their eyes would start to glow.

"Don't," the third guy said who was standing at a corner quietly.

The two guys stopped in the middle. They looked frustrated.

"What do you mean?" They asked.

"We have brought her here to trade. Do you think the guy who asked for her will take her if you spoil her here?" He asked.

"Who cares if he doesn't," the first guy said angrily. "We have caught her. She belongs to us. We can just keep her for ourselves."

My wolf was losing herself inside. She was beyond angry. I was feeling disgusted by my remarks.

I tried to loosen my cuffs. But it was made with mana that I could not undo. I had no other choice but to wait for Chris or Felix. Closing my eyes, I kept praying that someone would come to save me.
