Chapter 30

ALPHA DANTE'S POV

Its been two months now and we're still looking for Erica, in the forests. I was losing hope but decided to keep going. “I've come too far to give up”, I kept telling myself. Meanwhile, Regal and I had become so close that he became my best friend and confidant when I'm troubled.

“Regal, over here” I called out to him as usual and he scurried over excitedly.

“Check the map” I handed it over to him tiredly and he quickly collected it, looking at me in confusion.

“What do you want me to check for you Alpha?” He asked, confusion written all over his face.

“When are we going to reach the next pack?”

“In two days time Alpha” he said and I sighed dejectedly.

“I never knew love hurts this bad, Regal - I never knew” I said, sadly.

“We will find the Luna, I believe we will” he said trying to comfort me.

“Don't give me false hopes!, its been three months now and I can't imagine how she's doing, what she's doing and who she's living with”. I said with a distant look on my face.

“I'm sure she's missing you too Alpha, and considering the fact that you both love each other wholeheartedly, I believe the Luna has a cogent reason for leaving without informing you” he said.

“But why?, we loved and trusted each other so much that I expected her to have given me an hint or something even if she was in grave danger- we had plans, lots and loads of them and we made those plans together but now? She has vanished into thin air like our love never existed” I said again.

“I strongly believe there's a good reason for this-” Regal said and I flicked his forehead with my fingers, cutting him off as he hissed in pain.

“Foolish you- you keep supporting her like you knew her better than I do huh?” I chuckled as I watched him rub his forehead as if trying to ease the pain I inflicted.

“Or maybe she was tired of serving two strong and powerful masters at the same time.” He said, smiling mischievously as I made a move to give him a powerful punch in the jab but he quickly dodge after predicting my moves while laughing.

“We enjoyed every moment together you fool!, she never complained about it” I said and spaced out, thinking about our sweet moments together.

“I know, but can she say the same for Alpha Logan?, you know females are usually gullible and emotional- perhaps she hated the fact that she had to yunno be with the both of you, yunno what I'm trying to say huh?, she might not be proud of that- most girls wouldn't like that either” he said and I can't help but reason with him.

“You think so?” I asked.

“Yes Alpha, I'm sorry for poking my nose though”.

“No problem Regal, feel free” I replied with a sad smile.

“Ain't you missing your girl?, you haven't said anything about her since the last time” I asked him, trying to lift the atmosphere.

“Yes I am, but what more can I do when duty calls-”

“She isn't mad at you or anything?” I asked again, like a curious cat.

“She understands my job better than anybody else Alpha, we both knew how our relationship is gonna turn out to be before accepting each other and so far, I think she's coping quite better than I had ever thought” he said with a dreamy smile.

“Hope you make up for the time lost with her anytime you visits?” I asked teasingly.

“Uhm- yes, I guess” he replied with an embarrassed smile.

“How do you know when she's not happy with you?, did she just gives you silent treatment or she speaks out?” I asked, trying to learn from him.

“Well.. none, she acts normal but I do read her body language tho”

“How” I asked again inquisitively.

“When it's time for fun she claims she's tired, she won't laugh at my jokes, feigning sick and all of that, like she's gonna put up serious facial expressions that I'd sometimes find it difficult to believe that she's annoyed” he said, laughing.

“Ohh really?”

“Yes Alpha, females are sometimes weird” he said, still laughing.

“Let's go hunt for lunch” I said and he followed me.

We'll be back in the next 30 minutes please prepare the fire for lunch!” I shouted out to the other guards who were busy gisting under a tree.

“Okay Alpha!” they responded in unison and we left.

On our way to hunt, we continued chatting incessantly and just then, I heard a loud screeching sound in the nearby bush and we both moved closer to get a glimpse of whatever is going on there and on getting there, something flashed in our eyes at the speed of a lightning…
