Chapter 61 You think I'd let you die?
Rosie's POV
"Princess," he called, and I stood up from where I sat, sweat slicked down my body as I swallowed hard.
My eyes took a glimpse at me, my pulse raised, and my furrowed brows demanded a reason why he called.
"You aren't eating," he pointed out as he had been observing me.
"I lost my appetite," I said in between my teeth, taking my hands off Aria, who wasn't worried about the situation.
"Not while I'm here," he muttered, suddenly serving me some crab chowder. I faked a smile as he gestured to me if I was fine being fed by him.
I shook my head and just collected the bowl of soup from him while pretending to eat.
However, my boys were all I thought of, how their excitement got replaced with disappointment, the apologies I'd have to render.
All of this sums up as an ache in my head and even if I forced myself to drink from the bowl, I was still worried.
Each conversation Aria brings up, she tries to involve me in it but to clear his doubt.
After a wonderful dinner, we rounded up by escorting Aria and the girls out. Damian had wanted them to spend the night over because it was late.
However, I was against it, gesturing to Aria to come up with an excuse.
Fortunately, there was an uber to pick them up and we said our goodbyes.
We were still on the pavement and I bit my lip, knowing what was to come next.
"It's best we leave now for the palace," I suggested in a wistful tone as I could see his eyes were scrolling around.
"Palace?" He replied, like it's something strange in his tone.
I rolled my eyes knowing that he'd want to joke about it with me.
"Yes," I mused, rubbing my forehead and crossing my arms.
"We have dishes to do," he suddenly replied, turning his back against me and striding to the door.
"Dishes?" I repeated tensely and puzzled.
"You don't expect a ghost to clean up the house before leaving, do you?"
"I'd hire room service."
"Why are you so eager to chase me away?"
Because I want my kids back in the house and not be stuck somewhere, cussing and regretting.
I want them to get served with the meals I prepared for them which, of course, I had stuck up in the fridge.
"Is there anything else you're hiding from me?" He asked to study my face as I had grown silent.
"Why would I? I'm just anxious that you might have an important meeting by dawn and I don't want a lunatic Alpha cursing."
He twisted his lips and then scoffed unbelievably.
"A lunatic who still owns you and has you staring with lust," he proudly asserted but with a Stoic look.
"Damien, let's leave," I suggested, not wanting to sound as though I desperately wanted to chase him.
He nods in that sarcastic way, which expresses that his decision stands. He opened the door and said;
"Get in."
I grumbled, turned my face away from him and then scanned around before stomping inside.
While inside, we headed for the dining table and began to clear the dishes and I kept cussing at heart.
Next, we moved to the kitchen to wash the plates, and I'm shocked Damian is doing all of this.
I thought he was a spoiled brat that has his maids at his feet doing everything. It's strange!
Somehow, rather than thinking about my boys and Harry, I was invested in looking at this man, really intrigued.
While he washed, he made me clean off the foam.
"Is an alpha and a Luna meant to do this?" I asked, breaking the long silence between us as I rinsed the plates with water, then cleaned them with a towel.
"Do you have a problem with it?"
Yes! Because of you! My boys can't even come home in peace.
"I mean we are meant to be in the palace, get involved in the matters of the state."
He turned to look at me and I grew frightened, hauling my body away from him while clearing my throat.
"You're part of the state, so I'm involved in myself."
Gods! He really caught me off guard as I froze into stillness with those eyes ogling at me.
I was breathless and a wave of emotions burst inside me. He let out a sideways smile which sent half a relief to me.
"It's not a joke, Damien, the kingdom needs you."
"Another word about the kingdom and I'm drowning your face in this water," he muttered, and I scoffed, definitely wanting to taste him if he'd do that.
"Kingdom?" I flirty whispered, hiding my smile and I swear I won't test him again because before I could take in another inhale, his hand had gripped my neck and boom!
My face sank into the water that filled my side of the wash bowl. Everything was blurry as water swam inside my nostrils.
I couldn't breathe as I kicked my legs, screaming inside the water, but I only gulped it, slamming my hands at the sides of the bowl.
His hand yanks my head off the bowl and my soaked head pours out water.
I was shivering, panting heavily as my shirt got soaked too, and with my two palms, I wiped my face, drew in a long breath.
He was in front of me now, with a smirk while taking off the gloves in his hands.
"You'd want another test, don't you?" he whispers, running his fingers through my wet hair and, annoyingly, I snapped his hand away.
Angrily, I stride to the dining room which is the closest to the kitchen.
"Hey, princess, you need to get dry," he pointed out lightly while coming into the limelight just so I faced him.
"I almost drowned!" I yelled, glaring into his eyes.
"What? You didn't even last up to 30 seconds in there!" He defended so unbothered.
I tried not to cry but just fumed at him, charged to fight back.
"I was battling for my life. After those few seconds, you claim you trapped me inside there!" I roared, clenching my fist.
"You think I'd let you die? You're fucking overreacting!"
