Chapter 19: The Consequence

KEVIN's POV

What's up guys, Hindi na ako magpapakilala. Andito kami sa labas ng k'warto ni Queren.

"Thanks for tonight babe" paalam ni Kaycee nang maihatid ko siya sa tapat ng bahay nila.

"Hindi na ako papasok sa loob, napapagod na ako. Gusto ko nang makauwi at magpahinga" nandito pa kami sa kotse ko na nakatigil sa harap ng bahay nila.

"Aren't you gonna open the door for me babe?" naiiritang tanong niya.

"Can't you do that yourself? You will just push the door, in case you don't know" walang gana nama'ng sambit ko.

"Gosh! Fine! Don't you dare call me tonight, d*mbass!" iritadong sabi niya at nagdadabog na lumabas.

Padabog din niya'ng isinara ang pinto na halos nasira na sa sobrang lakas ng pagkakasara nito.

Tsk, that brat!

Hindi ko na siya hinintay na makapasok sa loob ng gate nila.

Agad ko'ng pinaharurot ang kotse at kita ko sa side mirror na napatigil siya sa paglalakad at galit na nakatingin sa direks'yon ko.

She's fuming mad.

The hell with opening the godd*amn door for her?

The hell on waiting her na makapasok sa loob ng bahay nila?

She said that's sweetness and everygirl wants that.

Is that so? I don't think she'll like that?

Pagkagarahe ko sa kotse ay walang gana ako'ng lumabas at naglakad papasok sa loob ng bahay.

Pagkapasok ko ay si manang ang sumalubong sa akin.

I look on my wristwatch.

1:00 am in the middle of the night.

Tsk, night shopping of those girls really s*cks!

"Tulog na po sila mom manang?" tanong ko sa kan'ya habang ipinaghahanda ako ng pagkain.

"Saka, kanina dumating si kuya diba? Ang aga naman ata nila matulog kung gano'n?" diretso ko pa'ng tanong.

They usually drink some wine kapag umuuwi si kuya until 3 in the midnight. Tinitikman ang koleksyon na dala ni kuya.

"Hay naku, iyon na nga hijo. Hindi pa sila umuuwi simula no'ng umalis." sagot naman ni manang.

Huh?

"Bakit daw manang, tumawag ba?" nagtatakang tanong ko.

"Hindi pa nga rin, ang mommy mo, dumating nang may kausap sa telepono." umupo siya sa silya na kaharap ko. 

"Aba'y hindi pa nakakaupo e may panibago'ng tawag ulit at ayon, nagmadaling umalis at hindi pa ulit umuuwi hanggang ngayon. Awan konga ba, tawagan mo nga" nag-aalalang sambit niya.

Tumango naman ako at kinuha ang cellphone upang i-dial ang number ni mommy.

"Baka naman sa labas nila naisipan na i-celebrate ang pag-uwi ni kuya" sabi ko naman habang nagriring sa kabilang linya.

Nagkibit balikat lamang si manang

"Hello, Kevin anak?" bungad nito.

"Hello ma, nasaan kayo? Sabi ni manang hindi pa raw kayo umuuwi?"

"Ah, eh, andito kami sa.. Uhm" nagtaka ako.

"Saan ma?"

"N-nasa hospital kami anak, involved ang kuya mo sa isang aksidente"

"Ano?"

"Oo anak, nakauwi ka na ba?"

"Saan'g hospital 'yan ma, pupunta ako"

"N-naku anak, hindi na. Magpahinga ka na, alam ko'ng pagod ka"

"Mom, ano'ng hospital iyan. Pupunta ako"

"B-but Kevin"

["Let him"] rinig ko'ng sabi ng isa pa sa kabilang linya.

"Dad"

["Kumain ka muna bago ka pumunta dito"] sabi niya.

"Yes, just send me the details"

"Sige anak, ise-send ko na lang"

"Okay, bye"

Pinatay ko na ang tawag.

Nag-aalala ako kay Kuya.

"Ano raw hijo, bakit may narinig ako'ng hospital. Ano ang nangyari?" si manang.

"Involved daw si kuya sa isang aksidente. Pupunta ako doon manang, magpahinga na po kayo. Ako na po ang bahala dito"

"Ay sus ginoo, anung nangyari. Ayos lamang raw ba siya? Sila?" kinakabahan na siya. Nag-aalala

"Manang ayos lang po sila, matulog na po kayo at ano'ng oras na. Babalitaan ko na lang po kayo mamaya, sige na po"

"O s'ya sige-sige, balitaan ninyo ako"

Matapos ko'ng kumain ay niligpit ko na ang lahat, ni-lock ang bawat pinto ng bahay at saka dumiretso sa kotse.

Muli ako'ng tumawag kay mommy para kompirmahin ang adress na binigay niya.

Makalipas ang ilang minuto ay nandito na ako. I can't stop tapping my fingers on my wheel.

Kuya is fine no need to worry.

I heaved a heavy sigh and went out on my car.

I asked kuya's name when I went straight to the nurse' station.

But the nurse in-charged said they don't have patient named Kian.

I was about to call mom when dad arrived.

He put her arm on my back and lead the way.

I was nervous as we walk on the pathway. I can't even asked dad if kuya is fine because I know my voice will tremble.

But the thing that shocked me more is when I saw tito Nico and kuya Acsel together with mom and kuya.

I approached kuya Acsel and asked their presence here but he just tapped my back and walk away.

I wanted to ask tito Nico but he just smiled at me.

I approached kuya instead, checking him if he's fine.

Asides from bruises and some blood stain on his shirt, no minor injuries has done.

Nakahinga ako nang maluwag, buti naman.

I asked mom what are they still doing here and who is the victim, she just look at the glass window.

I saw some doctors, operating someone. I leaned on the window to check if I knew this someone and cold air stiffened me when I saw the patient's face.

Q-queren?

W-what the fvck?

Tumingin ako sa kanila, nagtataka, nagtatanong, naguguluhan.

Dad speak

"Kian accidentally hit her, by his motor. On the same place where her girl friend die"

"Holy sh*t" I murmured and take a glance on the window.

Day had passed and I'm still processing the truth.

How the heck she got hit

I don't even know what happened exactly.

When the doctor said Queren needs a blood donor with type AB blood, I immediately approach tito Kenneth when we got home.

And then here we are. Another day, another truth has reavealed.

Kasalukuya'ng sinasalinan ng dugo ni tito Kenneth si Queren.

Hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala sa nalaman ko kanina.

Tito Kenneth, the father of my childhood friend. I used to tell him a story between me and Queren, I used to tell him anything about my childhood friend.

And now there's the truth. That he is her father.

I met him when we moved to US to be with kuya Kian way back a decades ago.  He is Kuya's guardian back then.

They told me that he is an ex-convict. Imprisoned for almost 5 years because of some matter.

So this is the matter.

He raped tita Dennise.

As I can see, he can't do such thing.

He wouldn't do some st*pid stuff.

For almost a decade of knowing him. He is careful, careful on the things he do, he think and he plan.

If he can calculate the possibility and the calculation said it is negativity over possibility, he won't do that stuff and will think another way on finishing such task, and executing such plan.

That's one of the things I learned from him.

That's why I am still wondering, did he really harrassed her?

My mind says not.

It keeps saying 'why the hell would he harassed a girl with a thick mind'

Kidding aside.

Speaking of that girl.

Earlier, tita Dennise were insisting to find another donor because she don't want tito's blood for her daughter.

No one listened to her so tito went to Queren's doctor and proceed on blood transferring.

He said "She is my daughter so my plan would be the final decision and you're not allowed to do st*pid things against my rules!" and then tita stepped back.

Shocked on his voice and those angered aura.

Scary..

That's the second thing I like on him.

He's not the person who will be mad on a simple things, but if someone or something pushed his patience to it's limit, better moved out on his way or he'll grab you to hell.

He is my idol after dad. He's a businessman. Actually, they are all a businessman.

But

Did you thought that it is just their past time?

Did someone thought that?

I guess no one?

Even me, didn't even thought that.

All I know, they are all business tycoons with brilliant leadership.

My dad is an executor and a businessman.

My mom is a psychiatrist and a businesswoman.

Tita Faith is an accountant and a flight stewardess. Flight stewardess is her past time job and she is also a manager of some parlor here in the country. I guess that's the cause of being single?

Tita Dennise is a lawyer and a businesswomen. A lawyer but breaks the law. I guess that's one of the benefits of being a lawyer?

Makakalusot ka sa lahat ng bagay, masama man iyan o hindi.

Kasalanan man iyan o hindi.

Sinadya man iyan o nagkataon lang.

You can defend yourself as long as you know everything about the law  you'd break.

Actually I thought she is just shouting on Queren.

Keep on shouthing because the girl failed on doing so.

Keep on shouting because of stress.

Just keep shouting and nothing else.

But then I learned that she was abused.

My childhood friend I used to watch whenever she's crying was in pain.

Her life is hell.

After a minutes of waiting, the doctor went out  the room.

"Where is the family of the patient?" sabay na lumapit si tito Nico and tito Kenneth.

"What happened doc?" si tito Nico.

"Is she fine now?" si tito Kenneth.

"If you're the family, come with me" sabi ng doctor at nauna nang maglakad.

Sumunod sa kanya si tito Nico, tito Kenneth at kuya Acsel.

Napatingin kami kay tita Dennise, nakatayo lamang siya at walang gana na nakatingin sa tatlong lalaki.

Tumingin siya sa amin.

"Tsk" saka tamad na tamad na naglakad kasunod ng mga lalaki.

Kami'ng tatlo lamang ang naiwan dito.

Ako, si mommy, at si tita Faith.

"Anak pumasok ka ka muna sa loob, mag-uusap lang kami ng tita mo" utos ni mommy.

"Okay" sabi ko na lang at pumasok na.

I stare at her.

She's still sleeping.

Two days had passed, still  no progress.

Based on what I know the doctor immediately operate her after they learned that she got a major head injury.

As far as I know major head injury can cause coma.

But it's depend on the impact of hitting on something.

I guess?

I don't know.

As I can remember, a comatose can be a short-time or a long-time, or even lifetime.

Tsk.

Minutes passed when tita and mom get in.

They both sit on a couch.

After an hour the four entered.

They all have different aura.

Mad.

Stiffened. Can't-believe-look

Sad.

I took a glance on tita Dennise, she just fierce.

"What happened?" I asked, waiting for anyone of them to respond.

Kuya Acsel opened his mouth, but no voice came out.

Tita Kenneth who wears I-can't-believed-look just take a glance on me and went to Queren with a trembling hand.

What the fvck is with these three?

I look at tito Nico, waiting him to speak and answer my question.

"She's in coma" he started.

"No.." tita Faith murmured.

Sh*t

"And her doctor said it's depend on her if she'll wake up or she will remains asleep" he continued.

Holy fvck
