Chapter 51 Fifty one

Chapter 51 Fifty one
‎Zander
‎
‎I stood in the hallway outside her door, my chest heaving, blood still roaring in my ears from the drive over.
‎The fight with my father and Dorian played on repeat in my head their cold voices, the old photograph of that girl on her knees, the accusation that Iris had come back for revenge. Every word had felt like a knife twisting deeper.
‎But none of it mattered the second she opened the door.
‎Iris stood there in the torn remnants of her dress, her hair messy, lips still slightly swollen from this morning, amber eyes wide with surprise. She looked beautiful and dangerous. She looked like everything I couldn’t stop wanting even after what my father had just told me.
‎For one long, frozen second, we just stared at each other.
‎Then the words tore out of me, rough and full of everything I was trying to hold back.
‎“You lied to me.”
‎She blinked her eyes but I caught it. Surprise and wariness. Something that looked almost like fear.
‎She stood there, one hand still on the door, breathing a little faster.
‎“Zander,” she said carefully. “What are you talking about?”
‎I stepped forward, forcing her to back up into the room so I could close the door behind me. The click of the lock sounded too loud in the quiet space.
‎“Don’t,” I growled. “Don’t play innocent, not after what we did this morning.
‎Her cheeks flushed, but she lifted her chin, defiant as ever. “That was real.”
‎“Was it?” I took another step closer, crowding her space. “Or was every moan, every time you clenched around my cock, every ‘harder’ part of the game? Part of the revenge you’ve been planning since the night I rejected you in front of the entire pack?”
‎The words hung heavy between us.
‎I watched her face carefully, looking for any crack in the mask.
‎She didn’t react instantly. But something moved in her eyes...a flash of pain, quickly hidden.
‎“I really do not know who you're talking about, you don't know anything about me to accuse me” she whispered.
‎“I know enough,” I said, my voice rough. “I know you’re the same girl I called disgusting that night. The same girl I made kneel while they all clapped. The same girl I walked away from and now you’re back with a new name and a new scent, and you’ve been letting me fuck you like none of it ever happened.”
‎I stopped right in front of her, close enough to smell her still faintly mixed with my scent from this morning.
‎“So tell me the truth, Iris… or whatever your real name is,” I said, voice dropping lower. “Did you come back for revenge? Is every time you spread your legs for me just another way to make me pay for what I did to you that night?”
‎She stared up at me, amber eyes burning.
‎The silence stretched, thick and dangerous.
‎My heart pounded so hard it hurt. Part of me wanted her to deny it. Part of me wanted her to scream at me. Part of me just wanted to shove her against the wall again and fuck the truth out of both of us until nothing else mattered.
‎But the next words that came out of her mouth would decide everything.
‎And I had no idea whether I was ready to hear them.
