Chapter 107 Chapter 107

Chapter 107 Chapter 107
Elorai.

Eventually, we get to one that looks much smaller than the ones I've been seeing since arrival, and there are even more officials dressed in uniforms waiting for us. They collect our bags from us and lead us up a flight of stairs into the aircraft.

A soft gasp escapes my lips as I behold the interior. It looks like a hotel room, but it is considerably smaller, with more chairs than a bed.

“Wow... I don't know what I was expecting, but it definitely wasn't this,” I murmur as I walk.

“See? I told you,” Lucas says behind me. “Have a seat. You will have to use your seat belts now until we take off. Come on.”

He guides me toward a couch that sinks nicely when I put my weight on it and helps me with the seat belt, draping it across my body and locking it in place before taking the chair across from me.

Knox and Ronan sit beside me, and a female attendant comes with a tray, with glasses of wine on top of it.

“Would you like a drink?” she calls out, bringing the tray toward us.

Lucas takes a glass, but when he gestures for me to take one, I instantly shake my head.

I don't feel like it yet. My stomach is still too busy twisting itself into knots.

“The plane will be departing soon. Please make sure your seat belts are on. Do enjoy your trip.”

My fingers dig into my thighs, my gaze darting around, admiring the decoration yet secretly dreading this experience.

“Still nervous?” Lucas asks, his head tilted to the side.

I press my lips into a thin line, nodding softly.

“It's going to be alright,” he whispers, and I shudder, his words reverberating through me.

I nod, willing my fists to loosen.

The plane starts to move, and my heart jumps. I squeeze my eyes shut, squirming in my seat as turbulence rocks the plane.

Oh gods, this is so terrifying!

It only lasts a minute, though, because soon it stops, and I start getting that floating sensation.

I crack my eyes open to see each one of the alphas staring back at me.

My cheeks immediately grow inflamed, and I dart my gaze away.

That's when I see it.

Clouds.

“Are those...?” I start, but cut myself short, leaning toward the window. “No way... it's so beautiful...” I murmur, looking down at how small the world looks.

“Yeah, it is...” I hear Lucas's voice from behind me.

“It feels like I'm on top of the world,” I mutter, gazing at those huge white puffs drifting past us.

“We are...” Knox answers, a faint chuckle escaping his lips.

I don't know how long I stay there, just watching the clouds as they move by—the brilliant blue sky and the breathtaking scenery from the window.

I want to take a picture of it and keep it in my mind forever.

The female attendant comes back, passing us drinks and food, and this time around I take them, eating heartily. It definitely doesn't taste as good as whatever we'll be having at home, but it's so much better than nothing.

“Where are we going exactly?” I try again when I see the alphas are much more relaxed.

Ronan smirks at me. “You'll see.”

I groan, rolling my eyes. It sucks not knowing, but for the alphas to keep it a secret like this, it better be worth it.

After my meal, I grow drowsy and, despite my best attempts to stay awake, sleep finally wins and I drift off, leaning against the couch.

I feel someone move, helping me get comfortable, but for the life of me I can't figure out who it is or tear my eyes open to see their faces.

Once I'm comfortable, I go out like a light.

I'm woken up by the sensation of something moving around, and I realize the plane is descending.

“Hang on tight,” Lucas tells me when he sees I'm awake. “The plane is landing now.”

That startles me, and I immediately put on my seatbelt, gripping the armrest tight as the plane touches the tarmac.

The plane finally slows to a stop, and the attendant comes again, announcing that we have arrived at our destination.

The alphas immediately bolt from their seats, pulling down boxes as we get ready to leave.

I remove my seatbelt too and stand, waiting for feeling to return to my legs before I move out of the plane.

Warm, salty air blasts against my face the moment we step out, and I gasp, noting how dark it's already gotten here.

“Um, now that we've arrived, where the hell are we?” I shout, my voice barely audible over the roaring engines of these machines.

“A small tropical island with a beach,” Ronan answers, glancing at me. “I hope that answers your question.”

I gasp. “We're at a beach?! I've always wanted to go to a beach! The waves and sand and shells...!” I trail off, excited.

Knox chuckles. “Someone likes her surprise.”

I giggle, feeling my cheeks burn. “When will we be visiting?” I ask as I catch up with them.

“Perhaps tomorrow, after we've gotten rid of this jet lag. There's a car waiting for us. It'll take us to our resort.” Lucas says and I beam at him.

Together, we walk toward where our car is parked and get in. This time around, we have a driver who will be taking us around.

I'm guessing it's because Lucas doesn't know where we are.

The ride is interesting because I can't stop looking out the window and admiring the scenery.

It's so different from home—lush forests, way more people, and lots of melodic tunes wafting through the air. I should be exhausted, but I'm only excited.

The place where we will be staying is even more beautiful.

It's at the edge of a cliff, which is a stone's throw away from a beach and many magical structures that line the building.

“Wow...” I trail off, my eyes blown wide with disbelief. “This is gorgeous.”

The almost full moon hangs proudly in the sky, its silvery rays beaming down on us.

I stare at it, transfixed, before darting my gaze to the nearing structure. I'm really looking forward to my time here.

The car is soon parked, and we are ushered to the building.

“This is not a hotel, is it?” I ask when I don't spot anyone in the entrance.

“No... Think of it as another temporary home. A penthouse, if you will. We're the only ones here for the time being.”

“Oh...” I mutter, trailing off.

Our bags are brought in as well, and Lucas takes us to the room we will be sharing.

It's really huge, with its own living room, floor-to-ceiling windows that look out into the sea, giving us an outstanding view. And something that looks like a small pool right there on the porch.

One word. This place is breathtaking.

“Do you like it?” Lucas's voice comes from behind me, and I pause for a moment to glance at him.
