Chapter 17

Bryn's POV

As night fell down upon the forest, Jake realized I was serious about sleeping outside. So, he didn't stay much longer after that realization, so I was left alone to sleep in the woods as I'd previously planned.

I fell asleep under the shelter of the giant Oak Tree that seemed to tower over every other tree in the forest. Using the moss of the tree as my pillow and my blanket I fell asleep listening to the cricket’s chirp as I dosed off to sleep.

The morning sun shimmered over the horizon, awaking the land and everything in it. My eyes slowly fluttered open taking time to adjust to the abnormally bright sun shining down on me. I sat up on my 'bed' and stretched my arms up high above my head.

After spending 12 hours trying to reconnect with nature, nothing stirred within my soul. My wolf remained where she was secretly hiding somewhere deep inside my head. I was disappointed that it didn't help at all, but I do know that once Jake and I fully connect again she'll return.

After tidying up my camp I went back inside where I was stampeded by my daughter. "Mummy" She screeches jumping up in my arms and I'm forced to drop my bag to be able to catch her safely in my arms. "Hey sweetie “I said with a smile nuzzling her cheek with my nose.

"You didn't tuck me in" She whined with a big pout on her face and I smiled. "Sorry sweetie, I promise I'll tuck you in tonight" I said and that made a smile light up on her face.

"Promise?" She said and I nodded linking my pinkie around her outstretched one. "I promise" I said and she smiled happily, I put her back down on the ground.

She ran off most likely to watch some cartoons, modern technology has impressed her highly, even I'm not used to it all. I dumped my bag in the living room and strolled into the kitchen.

Chase was in the kitchen and he smiled brightly at me when I entered. "Hey Bryn, how are you this morning" He said and I shrugged, "I'm fine, just hungry" I said with a smirk and he chuckled. "Fair enough" He said with a smile staring at me as if I was going to disappear.

Which is understandable, but I won't be willingly going anywhere anytime soon. The boys know I won't leave them, after just giving them back. I would never even think to leave, it would break my heart too much.

As I was buttering my toast the home phone started to ring, and a voice called for me. "Bryn the phones for you!" Jake's voice yells through the house and I walk out of the kitchen and jog upstairs and stroll into Jake's office.

I had to admit Jake was looking good this morning, his hair was wet like he just got out of the shower. He has wearing a plain white t-shirt and black ankle biters with white converses. Even the simplest of clothing he managed to pull off wonderfully.

I grabbed the phone out of his hand and sat on the edge of his desk, which by his glare told me he didn't like that. I placed the phone by my ear "Hello Bryn speaking" I said and I heard a shriek from the other line, "Oh my gosh Bryn it seems like I haven't talked to you in ages!" A female voice yelled through the phone and I instantly identified her as April, the quirky Luna from the pack who arrested me.

"Hey April, yeah sorry I haven't called things have been a little hectic" I say and Jake borrows his eyebrows in confusion, I mouthed 'I'll explain later' and he nodded turning away back to his pile of paperwork.

"I totally understand, how did everything go when you went home?" She asked and I smirked at the memories. "I met the boys’ mates who were quite rude to me at first, since I was a rogue and they didn't know my name they were using their mated status against me. But once they realized who I was, there face was priceless but we'll all friends now" I tell her and I hear her hum in approval.

"Well some women get threatened around rogues, they were probably trying to scare you off" She said and I shrugged in agreement. "Oh well, they are all lovely girls and Mason managed to find his way back to me, so that's a bonus" I say and the line was silent for a moment. "Remind me who Mason is again?" She said and I chuckled, oh yeah, I never told her his name. "Jennifer's father" I said and she chuckled, "Oh that's cool, I'm sure she's glad to have her dad back" She said and I smiled, "Yeah she does, she missed him like crazy but he's back now and she's happy" I said with a smile and she cooed. "Oh, that's adorable, hey you and me should have a girl’s day out" She said and I cringed, I couldn't even remember what that involved.

"Like what?" I asked and she giggled, "The usual, spa appointments, massages, nails, maybe get our hair done, some clothes shopping and maybe some Victoria Secret for Miss un-mated" She said in a suggestive tone and I gasped. She chuckled, "No way, I don't think so" I snapped in a hushed tone hoping Jake didn't hear anything she just said.

She evilly chuckled, "Oh come on you know you want too" She said with a teasing tone and I smirked, "OK maybe but." I was quickly cut off, "No buts, we're going and you’re not stopping me, I'm picking you up at 10 am tomorrow" and before I could object, she hung up and I placed the phone back on the hook.

"What was that about?" Jake asks and I take a deep breath, "I'm going on a girl’s day out" I tell him and he smiles shocked, "With who?" He asked confused and I frown. "I do have friends apart from you boys and your mates you know" I said and he smirked "Name one" He said and I smiled, "Good cause I can only name one" I said and he chuckled amused and I glared at him hoping off his desk and casually leaving the room, to get away from my evil mate...
