Chapter 73 - Invitation From Dixon

I

Daffodil tried to dial his father’s mobile number again but like her previous calls, it cannot get through. His mobile number was unreachable.

“You cannot contact your parents, Sweety?” Lexus, who was already lying on the bed, asked.

Daffodil nodded frowning. “Maybe Dad’s mobile phone is with low battery, that was why I could not reach him. I will try to call Mom, instead.” And, so Daffodil dialed the mobile number of her mom, but the same thing happened. Her Mom’s mobile number, like her Dad’s, was unreachable. It seemed like both of her parents’ phones were low battery or have been turned off. Worry suddenly rushed through her thoughts.

“What Daff? You cannot contact your Mom too?” Lexus was already furrowing. He alighted from the bed and approached Daffodil.

“Both their mobile phones could not be reached. I am worried now, Lex. What happened to them?” Daffodil sat on her bed and Lexus followed her.

“Don’t think of anything negative, Daff. Your parents, I am sure are fine. How about calling your landline phone at home or the office?” Lexus suggested.

Daffodil nodded and then called first their home landline phone. It was their long-time housemaid who answered her call.

“Hello, Maribel, this is Daff, can I speak with Mom or Dad please,” she said immediately after the maid answered her call.

The maid seemed surprised. “Ma’am Daff, they are both not here. Did you not know that they will be traveling outside of the country today? They might be on their flight already.”

“What? Nope. I don’t know, Maribel. Where are they going? Are they going on a vacation?” She was furrowing already.

“Oh, apology, Ma’am Daffodil, but they did not mention to us, which country they are going.”

Daffodil furrowed more. “Alright, I will try to ask in the office. Thanks, Maribel. Goodbye.”

She dialed their office number and was frustrated to be informed by his father’s executive assistant that she too was not aware, of which country they will be visiting.

Lexus was just observing Daffodil while doing her phone calls. He saw the sudden change in her aura as she put down her phone after calling her Dad’s office. He kept his silence however and waited for her to tell him of her predicament.

“Lex, I am wondering why Dad and Mom kept secret to me their recent vacation. None at home and even in the office knew where they are going,” she then said frowning. She sat beside him on the bed and Lexus put his arm around her shoulders.

“I am just thinking. What if they are coming here and would like to surprise you?” Lexus was smiling when Daffodil side glanced at him. A sudden ray of hope flickered through her eyes.

“Why I did not think about that. Yeah, they are maybe on their flight going here. Hmm, I feel better now. We should be ready then Lex.”

“I am always ready to meet your adoptive parents, Sweety.”

“Can we invite them to stay here rather than in the resort or hotel?”

“Of course, I and Alpha Father would be happy to accept them here.”

“Hmm, alright, I will tell them once they are here. I will call them early morning tomorrow.”

“Good. Now, I have this feeling of wanting to sleep inside this room with you, but since we have an agreement, I need to say goodbye for now. I must go now, Sweety, before I could not be able to control myself and my wolf,” Lexus said grinning as he stood up.

Daffodil stood up too and smiled at him and nodded. “Yes, you must go now, Lex.”

Lexus winked at her and before she could protest, she already felt his lips on hers.

“Just a kiss. I love you, Daf,” he said after kissing her deeply. He was grinning broadly.

When Lexus left her room, Daffodil could not hide her wide smile. She suddenly got excited to see her adoptive parents and let them meet Lexus personally at last. Knowing her parents, she knew that they will like Lexus too.

The next day, Daffodil received a call from Dixon.

“Yes, Dixon, how are you? I apologize, if I was not able to visit you in the resort again. What’s up?” she asked consecutively the moment she answered his call.

“Oh, not much happened. I just love this place. I was able to relax from work and from city life. Anyway, I called to invite you here, just you. Would it be alright?” Dixon asked in a requesting tone, and Daffodil could not just turn him down. He is her close friend and been there for her always, especially during difficult times.

“Sure, Dixon. I will come by ten o’ clock this morning. But I cannot join you for lunch, alright? I already promised Lexus to join him and his father for lunch today.”

Dixon fell silent for a moment. He seemed to be contemplating on something. He cleared his throat before he spoke again. “Hmm, yeah sure. We can have a light snack in the resort’s cafe then.”

“That would be nice, Dixon. See you then at ten o’clock today.”

“Yeah, see you, Daf. Goodbye for now.” Dixon’s parting words before he cut his call with Daffodil.

Daffodil quickly showered and put on her tight jeans and white turtle neck short-sleeve blouse and paired them with white sneakers. She looked fresh and simple yet elegant looking.

She walked toward the dining area to have her breakfast. She knew that Lexus will not be around for breakfast since he has a meeting outside of the packhouse. She tried to mindlink him but his mindlink portal seemed to be closed or maybe he was too far from the packhouse. “I will just send a message to him about my meeting with Dixon,” she thought after two failed mind linking attempts to Lexus.

She had a quick breakfast and thereafter she returned to her room to get her shoulder bag. She got the key to the car that she rented for two months already and drove to the resort to meet Dixon.
