"We need him out. Everything makes so much sense now, well, some of it. He's been two steps ahead of us and now it's time we beat him at his own damn game." "We have to think of the pack too," I mused. "I agree, I mean I want him gone just as much as you do. My beast wants his blood so badly that I feel like I can taste it in my mouth already, I think I may have dreamt about it last night." I sighed and looked back at him as he played with a loose curled end of my hair while his eyes drifted into a deep thoughtful glazed stare. "We need evidence for all of it. I mean you can't challenge him without it, right?" "I need something solid that will connect him to it," Ethan replied as his eyes flickered to me. "That and, if there's bad shit babe, which I think you're right, then we have to think about the trail. If we kill him, then it could all be gone with him. Sure there may be some ends, but we have to consider that. "I know it was mentioned before, but if he finds out he could just trash it all to save his own hide. That man will do anything to keep his seat, including jeopardizing this pack. We need to have those leads so we can protect our pack, as much as I hate that we can't just go down there and pluck out his eyes." He rumbled a little. "Don't tempt me." He chewed on his bottom lip then looked back at me. "Why the hell the vamps though? I mean the treaty is solid, relations are good, and what did they gain? It's been ten years and what did anyone gain by tearing apart two packs? I don't get it." "Obviously that's one big piece of the puzzle, but it has everything to do with them, you saw what I saw. We're going to have to get Derek involved and Leo. I remember Levi talking about some rebels around the treaty that kidnapped Derek, but knowing Levi he probably killed them all." I bit my lip while Ethan started to mindlessly draw small circles on my lower back. I shook my head as the frustration of all the missing pieces of our puzzle swirled in my brain. "I don't know, I just don't know." I kissed Ethan's chest then rested my chin on it. He pushed some hair out of my face then bent down and kissed my forehead. "Best case scenario, what evidence do you think would work?" Ethan raised his brows and let out a frustrated breath. "Witness or witnesses. Anything that could tie him directly as far as evidence goes, even if it is a little stretch." "They de-fanged them right?" A growl ripped through our room as Ethan clenched his eyes shut. I kissed his chest again and tried to reach out over the bond to calm him, but it was hard. My beast was snapping out; defanging the dead was a big 'screw you' to that person. Shameful. "I'm sorry, I was just thinking if we found something like that?" "If we found them then there wouldn't be much stopping me from having his throat probably within that hour." I nodded. "Evan's coming by later this morning." "We're lucky he has Lyanna, we're going to need her to help us keep him from breaking out of his skin," Ethan breathed out a little tiredly. "Do you want to try and sleep some more before he gets here?" Ethan shook his head. "When I close my eyes I just see them on their knees with a knife pressed to their throats." I shivered slightly and kissed his chest. "Want to make me pancakes then?" I asked softly, trying to break up the tension and calm him. Keeping him from killing Thomas, keeping myself from helping him, was going be quite the challenge, to say the least. Ethan sighed and kissed my hair. "Will you be naked while I make them?" "Maybe." He sighed again then looked down at me. "Alright sunshine, come on. Let's see how many pancakes we can actually get made." Ethan ended up burning quite a few pancakes mostly because he was busy with me, or on me, so to speak. He made love to me slowly on the floor of our kitchen, kissing away the bad memories from the previous night as the bond poured life back into both of us. Eventually, though, Ethan did end up making me pancakes. I was making another fresh pot of coffee with his t-shirt hanging loosely off of me while he kept trying to make shapes with the pancakes, but really they just looked like big blobs. I bit back a smile, I didn't have the heart to tell him just yet. "Did you call Evan?" "Yes," he said as he flipped a pancake in the pan. "Sunshine?" "Mmmm?" I hummed as I scooped some coffee into the paper filter cup inside the coffee pot. "When Evan get's here, I want you to lock the doors. Do you understand?" I looked over at him as he gave me a sad smile. I nodded. It would be for Evan's own safety that we did. We couldn't have anyone tearing up the back just yet. We ate our pancakes quietly while we waited for Evan. Ethan took a hold of my hand as he sipped his coffee and pushed his plate away. I smiled and looked at the half of a pancake that he had left, the one that was in the shape of what I think was supposed to be a heart. "I like the blobs," I teased. Ethan furrowed his brows and looked at his plate before looking back at me. "Sunshine, clearly you don't see the artwork here." "Clearly," I answered with a sly smile before someone started to knock on the door.
