CHAPTER 24

Natalie scurries in shortly after, and places my drink and the croissant down on my desk.

"Have you informed Mr. Carter that I wish to see him?"

"Yes, sir. He said he'll be here in a minute. Anything else?" Natalie is all business now.

"That will be all for now." I dismiss her with a nod.

I gulp down all the blood from the wine glass in a jiffy as I smack my lips. Uh, yes that's sensational.

Drinking blood, quenches my never-ending thirst, and morever keeps me eternally young. Has both the benefits. I smirk at myself.

I stand up from my chair, as I walk towards the huge glass wall which offers me the full view of Texas.

I spread out my arms across the plywood furnished railing, which surrounds the naked glass wall. I can stand here and admire it's view for centuries to come.

Skyscrapers, streets buzzing with people, smooth roads, on which beautiful cars race on, people going to their destination wearing business suits. Oh, I can observe this forever.

I'm distracted by the sound of the door opening. I quickly turn around and find myself face-to-face with Lucas.

He quickly walks towards me, as his face splits into an infectious grin. I can't help, but smile back. That's the most charming smile I've ever seen.

"So, you just decide to walk into the CEO's room like that? No knocking?" I grin.

"The CEO and I are acquainted. He wouldn’t mind." He intertwines his hand at the crook of my neck.

"Ofcourse he wouldn’t mind. He would rather pay good money, to ses you smile like that everyday." I look straight into his eyes.

He's happy and I want to see him so, always. Holy, the guy is too perfect. I don't know what he's thinking but I do wish to know.

"Uh huh. You have a lot of money to waste, don't you?" He tugs at my hair and pulls them.

I love it. It's almost like a massage. And yeah, I have plenty of money to waste.

"Lucas, I make about $25, 000 in 15 minutes. I can waste a lot of money." I say, as I caress his cheek with my finger.

"Yeah. And the CEO apparently, doesn't do any work." He says with a mocking tone.

Oh, two can play this game.

"The CEO is distracted due to someone. The guy is standing right here." I point a finger towards him.

"And, how exactly does the guy distract the CEO?" He slicks back his hair.

I quickly grab his face, as I kiss him. He parts his lips, which offers my tongue the full access to his mouth. He doesn't resist. And, I love it when people let me have things their way.

Finally, we break away and he looks completely flushed. That's the adrenaline, baby.

"That's how he distracts me." I smirk at him.

He smiles back, and opens his mouth to say something but I put my hand up signalling him to stop. I'm not done, yet.

"Everything about you is so different, Carter. It's like you drive me crazy. I've never taken someone on my jet, never made out in my private elevator, never have been with any employee, never taken someone to a trip. Only you." I breathlessly speak, as I look at his face for a reaction.

He is standing there, gaping at me. Fine, it's like he never saw me before.

"That's very... um, flowery. You said, you didn’t do romance." He smiles as he makes me sit on my chair.

"I don't." I remark as he grasps both of my shoulders with his hand, as he kisses me hard. His kiss depicts his ravenous desire, hunger.

"What the fuck is your blazer doing here? Let's get rid of it." Before I could make a move, he's opened my blazer and thrown it somewhere on the floor.

He grabs me by the tie, as he intensifies the kiss, and I have to cup his face with my hands to keep him still.

He finally breaks away, and removes my tie. He reaches for the hem of my shirt as he undoes all the buttons. And, leans in for another passionate kiss.

Before I can realise it, he's thrown my shirt somewhere as well. Goodness, when has he gotten to rough? It's almost like, he can rip the clothes off my body. Secretly, I do like that clumsy approach.

We're kissing once again, as my door suddenly opens. WHAT THE FUCK? WHO IS THIS?

Lucas is so startled, he jumps off from my lap, and is dumbfounded about what to do.

I stand up from my chair, as I see the face of the person who has done the biggest mistake in his life. It's Harper, one of my tech engineers.

I walk towards him, as he stands frozen beside the door and that's when he averts his gaze towards the floor and flushes red.

I know that I'm shirtless but you don't know what I'm gonna do.

Honestly, my whole body is seething with anger and my eyes are aflame and I grab him by the neck.

"You have seen nothing. Forget everything and go, get lost. You are fired." I manage to say without beating him.

How dare someone walks into the CEO's room without knocking or permission? I don't tolerate people barging in.

"Yes." He replies as he leaves the room. I take out my phone from my jeans pocket, as I call Luke.

"Luke, pick up Mr. Carter in ten minutes."

"Yes, sir."

Lucas is still standing there gaping at me, unsure of what to do.

"Lucas, go home. I'll be there in one hour. Please ditch work. We'll continue this at home." I say, and he nods as he leaves the room.

Have I been this pissed and angry in a fucking lifetime? Nah. How dare someone barge into my room like that?

I try to supress my seething anger, as I pick up my clothes from the floor, and wear them back again.

I sit on my chair, as I open my laptop and go through important files. And that's when my phone rings. I take out the phone, and find it to be an unknown number. Weird.

I pick up the call. "Godfrey."

"Uh huh, brother. Haven't heard your voice in decades." The voice hisses.

Shit, the voice is oddly familiar. IT'S RYDER! HOLY FUCK! WHAT DOES HE WANT?

"Ryder. What do you want? Haven't you done enough?" I try to sound very composed.

"Lucas. The guy is handsome no doubt." I can hear him laughing at the end of the line.

Oh no. This can't be happening. OH NO! NO, NO! FUCK, NO!

My legs are shaking, as my voice refuses to cooperate. It's like I've frozen in the spot.

"2 million dollars in two hours. I'll text you the address. Or else, your poor excuse of a boyfriend dies." The phone call ends.

I fall down on my chair. This needs to be a nightmare. It can't be fucking happening.
