Chapter 48 Chapter 48
Chapter 48 Chapter 48
I looked up to see gazing at me the one who had built a home in my mind and heart.
"Good morning, Mira." He greeted with a smile so sweet I smiled back forgetting that I was supposed to be pissed.
"Good morning to you too. I guess." I replied standing up from the stairs I had been sitting. I dusted the back of my dress and walked down to the pavement.
"I thought you were not going to come." I said, unable to hide the hostility in my voice.
"And leave you alone with that DPO God forbid." Scar chuckled and winked at me. "I won't be leaving you with any man that isn't me."
"Oh really now?" I asked, beaming. I wanted to throw my hands around him and hug him but that would have been so embarrassing.
I had to suppress my feelings because love, love can break you and I was too broken to take that chance.
However, the fact that he was now with me and hasn't given up onleke I had feared was good enough for me.
My smile grew wider as I looked up at his curious face.
"You suddenly look so happy. Were you really missing me that much because the Mira I had seen on those stairs..." He gestured towards the stair where I had been sitting. Where my book was now left abandoned. "Was pretty pissed about something, but now see you are all smiley. Accept that I have gotten under your skin." Scar finished.
I rolled my eyes and giggled at how happy he looked wriggling his brows at me as if He had just proved to me the greatest mystery.
"Well, I am happy to see you that I won't deny and___"
"I knew it!" He exclaimed cutting me off. We both started walking out of the stairs and into the compound.
"But that's because I didn't want to see the DPO alone." I finished earning a slight frown from him.
I opened the compound gate and we strolled out.
"Keep telling yourself that." Scar scoffed, cheering up again.
He flagged down a tricycle and we both jumped in.
"Estate police station." I said, informing the driver of where we were going.
I rested my head on Scars shoulders not wanting to stay away from him. I needed to feel him, to inhale his powerful scent. He was like peace and war together. A kind of addiction.
"So why didn't you tell me you once worked as a security guard?" I asked.
Scar seemed lost at first but it was only for a short while before he seemed to pick up. "I knew you would jump into conclusions. I didn't work as a security man anywhere the fuck_"
"So how do you know them?" I pushed further wanting to know him better.
Just then we arrived at the police station which was not too far away from my home.
"How much is your money?" I asked the driver totally forgetting about the question I had asked Scar.
"One fifty." He replied.
I tried to bring out the money from my purse when Scar stopped me. He thrust his hands into his pocket and brother out a thousand-naira crispy note.
"Keep the change." He said as he handed the money to the driver.
"God bless you. Thank you. u no go lack anything...." The driver was still praying and blessing Scar when we walked into the police station.
An officer ushered us into the hallway leading to the DPO's office.
"I don't like seeing his face seriously!"
I grumbled.
"Who?" Scar asked
"The dpo of course!"
"I don't Like seeing his face either but we need to for now. At least until ken is behind bars where his likes are."
"Some innocent people are there too." I interjected, remembering the movies I used to watch.
"Yeah they are."_ He sighed. "Guilt can be subjective I must say. But don't worry very soon we won't have to see his face again."
I smiled.
We finally got to the office and was let in by the officer who did a salute and walked out.
"Good morning." The DPO greeted, all smiles. He stood up to shake me and his hold lingered far too long to be comfortable.
"Good morning, sir." I replied, sounding a bit nervous. I pulled my hand away from his as he took his sit back.
Scar mumbled a greeting that I was sure the DPO didn't hear. He in turn didn't even spare Scar a glance.
"Do you have anything for us? Anything on those guys who tried to burn down my house?" I asked, immediately. Better to get it over and done with. God! I couldn't wait for this to all be over so that I could get on with my normal life.
"The guy that you handed to the police was not a member of the Dragon gang, that I can give Ken a salute for. He is smarter than I thought. The man has no idea about Kens business." The DPO hurriedly informed us.
"So who is he, If he is not a member of the gang?" I asked, my brows up in confusion.
"According to him he and his friends were paid to burn down the house. They were told it was because a rivals parent lived there. The both gangs have been fighting for a merger with White lion. That is the dragon cult and ghost brothers.
"And you believed him?" I was perplexed.
"I checked him out and he is not Lying."
"Does he at Least know where Ken is since he just saw him?" I asked hopefully.
"It was difficult for us to get him to talk but he later started talking after I threatened to put him behind bars. Not just that, but I told him he would be sentenced to life imprisonment for attempted murder if he didn't give us something to work on." The dpo sounded so pleased with himself as if he had been the one that took down Osama.
"So where is he?" I asked, as a matter of urgency.
"He said that all he knew was that ken was in ogwa."
"Then he must be in aunt Lisa's house. Her house is located around that area. I guess you were right Scar, he is Still there" I said, turning to face Scar who was at my side.
Scar smiled back but kept his eyes on the dpo like he had been doing since we entered his office. It was like he was waiting for him to tell a lie.
"We need to go there now. I heard he plans on leaving today but I do not have enough officers. I only have two to spare, they will go with scar, you know we have two watching your family already. That's about the best I can do."
"Ken is not just a danger to me but the town at large, he could have killed a dozen people yesterday with that stupid stunt he played." I said through clenched teeth, almost losing control.
