Worth it...

Once we reached the parking lot, I was tempted to ask him where we were headed to. "Where are we going to?"

Luciano unlocked his car before giving me an answer. "A place."

I had to roll my eyes at his statement. "You could have just given me the answer."

"Be patient." He advised before getting into the car. I followed after him and soon, we were on the road.

The ride mainly consisted of me coming off into my thoughts. I was curious and anxious at the same time.

We made a quick stop to get some ice cream. That was my idea by the way.

Ten minutes later, the car pulled up at what seemed to be a cottage house surrounded by a lot of vegetation.

Once I got out of the car, I could not help but admire everything about it. I had never seen anything like this before so I was impressed.

"Where is this place?" I asked Luciano.

He quickly typed something on his phone before facing me. "Mi Tesoro."

I raised my brows. Mi Tesoro? My Italian was rough but I'm certain Mi Tesoro means; My Treasure.

Almost like Luciano noticed my state of confusion, he proceeded to explain himself. "This place is called 'Mi Tesoro' I bought it from a Scottish royal family. It signifies nature in accordance to beauty. Apparently, it gave them good luck."

I was stunned by the meaning behind this place. It all made sense.

"Why... Why did you buy it?" I asked him.

He scoffed. "initially, I was just looking to develop this place into a VIP guest house."

I rolled my eyes on impulse. If course, he saw money where the Scottish family saw good luck.

Luciano sensed my aura so he proceeded to explain. "But... My plans changed along the way and I decided to leave it as it is."

I cocked my head to the side. I was intrigued. "Why?"

He took in a deep breath then focused on the cottage in front of us. "Something made me want to leave it as it is. Somethings are better off as they are."

I nodded my head. It was definitely true.

"But that does not mean I'll not be making month out of it. I didn't just spend a hundred million dollars to appreciate nature." Luciano remarked.

I gasped so loud that I almost lost my voice. "tell me you are joking!"

He shrugged. "I don't joke."

"How could you buy this property for one hundred million dollars? What were you thinking?" I shrieked.

His eyes met mine. "business. I was thinking business."

I scoffed. "That does not explain anything. It's a beautiful property but come on! Take the scenery and nature aside, it's just a cottage!"

Luciano made a sound at the back of his throat. I could not tell it it was a groan or chuckle.

He inserted his hands in his pocket then made eye contact with me. "The flowers and grasses you are seeing cost a thousand dollars per leaf."

I gasped. "why? Because a Scottish royal family lives here?"

He shook his head. "no. Because this place has history and... The flowers are expensive."

I rolled my eyes. "if this place was so magnificent, why did the royal family decide to sell it? Why not make money out of it if they wanted to leave?"

Luciano stroked his chin mysteriously. "They didn't want to sell it."

I gasped. "did you kick them out?"

He smirked. "Not exactly. I just threatened them with some of my lawyers and that was enough."

"Why would you do that?"

"Do I strike you as the kind of man that would waste one hundred million dollars on nothing?"

"No." I shook my head.

He nodded. "that's right. The only reason this place caught my interest is because I know value when I see it."

I wanted to argue but I decided against it. This man was a billionaire. If he said this place was worth it, then it was.

"Let's go inside." He suggested.

I sighed then nodded.

Once we got into the cottage, I regretted every single thing I said. This place was beautiful! Incredibly beautiful!

The interior was magnificent. I had never seen anything like it. "is this place even real?" I asked him.

He smirked. "we are just in the living room and you are surprised? The whole cottage would blow your kind."

I nodded my head because I was truly blown already. "Is this the development you made?" I asked him.

He shook his head. "I haven't even touched the place. Not even a housekeeper as cleaned it. It's untouched. Exactly how the family left it."

I was stunned to say the least. "This is surreal. So I get to see it this way before it is renovated?"

He just nodded.

"You said this place had history... Care to explain what you meant by that?" I asked him.

He stroked his chin. "The family that lived here before the Scottish family were saved by this house."

I raised my brows. "how so?"

"Apparently, their toddler slipped from the mother's hands and fell into the vegetation outside. The only thing that saved the toddler from being pierced by the knives in the garden was two long and thick strands of flowers that were stuck on his shirt." Luciano explained.

"Are you serious?" I asked in surprise.

He nodded his head. "yes. At least, that's what I was told."

"You do not believe it?" I asked him.

"A part of me does but a part of me also believes that was a lie the family told just to sell the house for a high price." He told me.

I chuckled at his theory. "you think so?"

He nodded. "yes. The Scottish family did not want to leave because they believed the house had good luck... So, I made my lawyers tell them otherwise."

I shook my head in disbelief. "You're cruel."

He stared into my eyes. "my kiss is cruel too."
