Chapter 93
Nina carefully took the business card, then said a bit sheepishly, "Actually, I already have this card."
Kane looked up at Nina.
Nina told him about meeting Bandel at my wedding last time.
Kane elegantly scooped a spoonful of salad into his mouth, chewed slowly, and only then said, "Looks like Bandel is interested in you, too."
Kane's words made Nina blush a little. She glanced at me, her eyes filled with unmistakable joy.
Of course, I was happy for Nina, too. Her finding a good match would be the best thing for me.
We all enjoyed the breakfast very much. After breakfast, Kane had to go back to the company.
Watching Kane's back, Nina turned to me and said, "I thought the mafia didn't have to go to work, just walk around with guns all day."
I burst out laughing and put my arm around her shoulder, saying, "Actually, I think the kind of people you're talking about are just street thugs."
Nina shrugged, "Well, who knows? I've never had any contact with the mafia before."
Before Kane became my husband, I never imagined such a day would come either.
I smiled and pulled her to sit on the nearby sofa. "So are you going to message Bandel? Since Kane said you could meet Bandel at noon today, that means he must be available."
But Nina looked at me hesitantly, "Can I really invite him? Won't that seem too forward?"
I looked at Nina and said with some surprise in my voice, "How could it? Didn't you tell me before to be brave and go after the person I like?"
Nina said this to me two years ago.
Back then, there was always a guy three years older than us at the church. He came to the church once a week to volunteer.
I heard he spent the rest of his time helping at an orphanage. He was a really good person.
When Luca cornered me at the church, he was the first one to stand up and speak for me.
Although I didn't understand love back then, I was touched by the kindness he showed.
He took good care of me and even said I deserved a better life.
Besides my mother, the priest, and Nina, he was the first person to care about me like that.
At that time, I really did fall for him, but later I found out he had a fiancée. Being such an honest and kind person, he must have treated his fiancée well, too. My first love ended before it even began. Nina suddenly bringing this up made me a bit nervous. I didn't know how Kane would react if he knew about this, but I thought he seemed to get jealous easily. So he'd probably be upset, right? I blinked at Nina - this was our secret, don't tell Kane.
Nina laughed. She lightly tapped my chest. "Why would I tell Mr. Moretti about this? I'm not stupid. I want you to be happy."
Hearing Nina's words, I smiled even more happily. I encouraged her again to message Bandel.
Finally, Nina gathered her courage and dialed the number on the card.
After three rings, Bandel's voice came through, "Hello?"
Nina swallowed and, encouraged by my eyes, spoke up, "Bandel, hi, this is Nina, Sonya's good friend."
Bandel clearly laughed. His tone was warm as he said, "I remember you. Is Bertley bothering you again?"
Faced with Bandel's concern, Nina's expression was full of shyness. She shook her head gently and said, "No, that's not it. I wanted to ask if you're free at noon today? Maybe we could have lunch together."
There was a somewhat long silence on the other end. After a while, Bandel finally said, "Is there something you want me to help you with?"
Nina immediately denied it, "No, no, it's not that. I just want to treat you to lunch, because I heard you don't have a girlfriend."
Bandel finally understood Nina's intention. This time, he didn't stay silent but responded quickly, "Of course, that's fine. Then let me pick the restaurant. Will the lady be coming with you?"
Nina glanced at me, and I shook my head repeatedly. How could I possibly go with them?
That would just be interrupting the two of them.
Seeing me shake my head, Nina told Bandel, "She has to bring lunch to Mr. Moretti at noon, so she won't be joining us."
Bandel said, "Okay, got it. I'll send you the location and time in a bit."
After hanging up, I saw Nina's lips curl up uncontrollably. I leaned over happily and said, "That's great! Bandel seems willing to get to know you better."
The usually bright and confident Nina suddenly became a bit shy, "Do you think he could really like me?"
I immediately patted my chest and promised, "If I were a man, I'd marry you."
Nina was amused by my words. She nodded, her eyes still showing embarrassment.
Looking at Nina, I thought for a moment and said, "How about this - it's still early, let's go shopping at the nearby mall. I'll help you pick out a beautiful outfit so you can have a perfect date."
Nina's eyes immediately lit up as she nodded in agreement, but she waved her phone and said, "I'll pay for it myself. After all, you've already given me living expenses."
"Of course, that's fine. Not only will you pay for yourself, but you'll also have to pay for me, too." I wasn't being polite at all.
Nina waved her hand generously, "Of course! Let's go, my treat today."
We quickly arrived at the nearby mall - the same one where I bought the bag for the priest last time, which also belonged to Kane.
We walked into a women's clothing store. From the exterior decoration, you could tell this store had a refined style, very suitable for women to wear on dates.
I glanced at Nina and said to the sales assistant nearby, "We'd like something suitable for a date that would also suit this lady's complexion."
The sales assistant looked at Nina and showed a slight smile. Her attitude was very polite and warm, "Of course, no problem. Please follow me."
The sales assistant chose a bright yellow dress for Nina. The dress was decorated with some lace, and the waist was perfectly tailored to let Nina show off her long legs perfectly.
I looked at Nina, my eyes sparkling, "Forget Bandel, even I'm head over heels for you."
Nina laughed, turned to the sales assistant and said, "I'll take this one then. Please wrap it up, and also help pick out a suitable outfit for my friend."
The sales assistant brought me a pink short dress.
I didn't seem to have tried this color scheme and style of dress before. After putting it on, I was a bit surprised too.
The sales assistant praised repeatedly, "This dress was made for you."
I was looking forward to Kane's reaction when he saw me in the dress, and nodded at Nina.
After buying clothes, we also found a makeup and styling shop, got our makeup done beautifully, and bought new bags.
No one could tell that not long ago, the two of us couldn't even afford basic rent.
Just after finishing our makeup, Bandel's message came through. He had booked a very expensive but beautifully decorated Western restaurant.
I said to Nina, "Go enjoy your date. I need to go back and prepare food for Kane."
Nina told me to be careful on my way back, then turned and left.
I got in the car and returned to the estate, and once again saw the woman who had been sneaking around at the front door yesterday.
This time, she heard the car and turned around, looking at me somewhat at a loss.
