Chapter 102

Chapter 102

Before getting out of the car, Kane handed me a new set of clothes.

The outfit looked pretty worn out, similar to what I used to wear.

Kane also changed into very ordinary clothes, looking like a good-for-nothing.

He even deliberately messed up his hair and put on some hair gel, making himself look rather sloppy.

I could barely recognize him and couldn't help but stare at his face and laugh.

Hearing my laughter, Kane reached out and grabbed my cheek.

But his tone was also playful, "What? Is it that funny?"

I quickly dodged away, "Of course not, I just think it doesn't match your image at all."

Kane ran his hand through his hair and snorted, "Even so, I'm still handsome, aren't I?"

I nodded repeatedly, "Yes, you're right, you're still handsome."

Hearing my words, Kane looked satisfied.

He cupped my face and kissed me, then said in a low voice, "Once we're inside, don't look around. Just follow me."

I thought Kane would use some other method to torture Luca, but I didn't expect him to make Luca lose everything through gambling.

I grabbed Kane's hand with some disapproval, "How can you be sure about gambling? What if you lose to him?"

Seeing the worry in my eyes, Kane laughed.

He gently stroked my hair and said, "You still don't quite understand - the casino can control anyone's wins and losses."

I was stunned. So that's why Luca would occasionally win small amounts but always end up losing everything.

I asked Kane with a complicated expression, "You know so much about this because you do this too?"

Kane nodded without hesitation.

He glanced at his phone, seemingly sending a message to someone, "As a mafia member, it's impossible not to be involved in the gambling industry."

Then he looked up and met my eyes.

"So, do you mind that I'm involved in gambling?"

I thought about it and shook my head.

I've always believed that people willing to gamble, no matter what they do, will never be good people.

Gambling is just an excuse they happen to use for venting and exposing their true nature, a way to numb themselves.

Seeing me shake my head, Kane showed a slight smile.

He put away his phone and got out of the car with his arm around me.

Immediately, a casino enforcer came up to us, looking Kane and me up and down.

Kane frowned and said very crudely, "What are you looking at? Afraid I can't pay?"

As he spoke, he pulled out a wad of cash from his pocket.

The money was obviously prepared in advance - though thick, it was very worn and made up of small bills.

That whole stack thrown out wasn't even three hundred dollars.

The enforcer seemed used to seeing this type of person. He gave a bland smile and gestured for Kane to go in.

I listened to Kane very well. After entering that smoky, chaotic casino, I didn't say anything, just obediently stayed by his side.

I had almost never been to a place like this. Even when I was forced to bring money to Luca before, I only stood outside and never went in.

Today was my first time inside.

Unlike a bar, people here were very close together, the space was cramped, and it was filled with all kinds of smells.

The smell of smoke, alcohol, sweat, and various other odors - I almost threw up.

Kane noticed my discomfort and took out a handkerchief from his pocket, handing it to me.

I covered my nose and mouth with the handkerchief. The faint fragrance on it made me feel much better.

I stayed close to Kane's side, trying to avoid contact with others, but someone still slapped my thigh.

I cried out instinctively, and Kane immediately protected me, asking, "What happened?"

I lowered my voice and told him with great shame, "Someone just slapped my thigh."

Kane's expression turned cold as he glanced behind him.

Only then did I notice that Bandel and another tall, burly man had somehow followed us in.

They received Kane's signal and immediately grabbed a sleazy-looking, short man and dragged him out of the casino.

I didn't know what fate awaited that man, but judging from Kane's current expression, it wouldn't be good.

"There are many people here with wandering hands. If anyone touches you, tell me, and I'll have Bandel chop off their hands."

Kane's tone was casual.

I nodded and stayed even closer to Kane.

However, most people here came for gambling. They had no interest in paying attention to what kind of girl was passing by.

So by the time we reached Luca's gambling table, no one had touched me again.

Kane had Bandel take me to a spot in the corner.

From there, I could clearly see what was happening between Kane and Luca.

I sat there, took the water Bandel handed me, thanked him, and watched Kane and Luca's direction without blinking.

Perhaps because the casino lighting was too dim.

Or perhaps because Kane's disguise was very successful, Luca didn't recognize that the sleazy-looking young man sitting across from him was the Kane he feared.

Kane approached Luca on his own, "Hey, this is my first time here, and no one wants to play with me. How about we play a few rounds together?"

Because Luca often cheated at cards and had little money, many people didn't want to play with him.

Now he had the large sum of money I had just given him, but no one would play with him.

Hearing someone actively asking to play, Luca's eyes immediately lit up.

He slapped the table and said generously, "Sure! What do you want to play? How much are we betting?"

Kane glanced at the items on the table and said casually, "Let's play Texas Hold'em poker."

When Luca heard Kane wanted to play Texas Hold'em poker, his expression instantly became smug.

I remembered Luca once said that Texas Hold'em poker was what he played best.

But those people at the casino were always jealous of his skills and accused him of cheating, so they never played with him.

I looked at Kane with some worry.

Bandel, beside me, noticed my gaze was locked tightly on Kane.

He bent down slightly and said to me in a low voice, "You don't need to worry. The owner of this casino is friends with Mr. Moretti and has been notified in advance."

Hearing Bandel say this, I immediately felt relieved.

It wasn't that I was worried Kane would lose to Luca.

I just felt uncomfortable thinking about Luca making money from Kane this way.

Now that Bandel said this, I felt much better.

I didn't want Luca to take a single penny from Kane and me.

Things got lively over at Kane and Luca's table.

Luca's eyes were bloodshot as he let out an excited sound, "I won this round again!"
