Chapter 210 - exile was the only way to prevent Owen from causing more harm to werewolves.
"What plan?" I asked after taking in a deep breath to control my emotions. I was beyond furious at myself for being gullible once again. I trusted people so easily and usually ended up regretting it. I regret taking her as a close friend. Unknown to me, she was the mate of our enemy.
Her head snapped to me, and she snorted, eying me disdainfully. Just as she was about to speak, Owen snickered, interrupting her.
"Did you think that you would have become a Luna if Raphael had died? You would have died from the agonizing pain of losing your mate."
"So let me get this right, you actually tried to kill Alpha Raphael so you could take over the pack? You did all those cruel and heartless things just so you could become the Alpha of the pack, right? You should be begging for mercy, dude, instead of talking that way.” Alex spoke from beside Raphael with his arms crossed across his chest. I was at Raphael's right-hand side while he stood by his left-hand side.
"Fuck you all. Let me be damned if I ever beg for any mercy. I should be the one ruling the pack now, not this fucker. He should go to hell, and so should this fucking bitch…”
A loud growl erupted from Raphael's chest, making Owen clamp his mouth shut in fear. They both lowered their heads just as Alpha Kelvin and his men also stepped back with their eyes widened in surprise at the sound of Raphael's sudden growl. I look up to see him glaring furiously at Owen, who was still looking down in fear. He released his arm from my waist and took a step toward Owen, who was standing in front of him.
"You harmed Camila and killed and injured numerous people just because you wanted the Alpha title. My father died in that explosion, for fuck's sake, all because of your stupid stunt to take over my pack. I thought you had done all this because you simply hated me, but now I know it's for your selfish reasons. You don't deserve to keep on breathing anymore." He gritted out, bending over and grabbing Owen by his hair. He raised Owen's head, forcing him to lock eyes with him before continuing to speak. "I don't want to know how or when you and Sasha became each other's mates. I don't care about any fucking friendship we once shared. I've made a promise to myself that when I finally get you, I won't hesitate to render you lifeless. I'd be damned all my life if I failed once again by not doing it myself."
With that, Raphael shoved his arm into Owen's chest, and I heard bones snap as he penetrated his structure. It happened in one jerk as Owen's heart was ripped out of his body and all emotion in his eyes vanished, leaving his expression vacant. Something warm and wet splattered across my face and torso as the scent of blood permeated the air.
"That's for my father," he muttered as he clutched Owen's heart in his hand, blood smeared on his skin. He let go of the organ, and it dropped to the ground with a loud thump.
He let go of the organ, and it dropped to the ground with a loud thump.
I stood there, numbed with shock as I watched the last vestige of life leave Owen's body on the ground in front of me. The seconds passed by, and a part of me knew that my wolf was howling at me, urging me to snap out of my trance, but I couldn't tear my eyes away from the grotesque sight. Since the beginning of my days of becoming a werewolf, I have seen plenty of violence; hell, I even fought with enemies using violence, but never have I witnessed something like this: the brutal slaying of someone.
Raphael had slain Owen. He has given Owen the worst retribution, which he deserved for all the cruel things he's done.
There was a gaping hole in his chest, heart ripped clean from his body. Blood was spurting from the wound and standing out against his pale skin. Owen's lifeless eyes stared up at the sky, expression frozen in a half-frown, mouth half open with the cry of pain. His body form collapsed into the musky and damp ground, red staining the earth beneath him. And then Sasha began to scream for her mate.
To my utmost surprise, I didn't feel an ounce of emotion as I watched Owen's death. I should have been feeling a sense of anger towards Raphael for slaying him. Instead, I was satisfied to see that the person that has been terrorizing everyone was gone. I actually felt relieved to see that Raphael has taken the action to end Owen's life. Call me a heartless person, but that's how I felt. I would have done the same to end his life as well. If we were living in the human world, he could have rotted in jail for all his crimes, but here, there was nothing as such. Jails for criminals like him weren't present here. So basically, exile was the only way to prevent Owen from causing more harm to werewolves. It was the only way, and Raphael had done the right thing.
