Chapter 143: Nix's grudge

Jamal suddenly arrives at Nix's house, who is startled and lets go of Selene, who in turn seeks air by passing her hand on his neck.

"Selene, are you all right?"

"Yes. Why are you here?

" You really don't know? Because I love you and I couldn't let anything bad happen to you". Jamal hugs Selene and helps her up.

It was at this point that Nix got angry and cast his magic at Selene again, who this time managed to defend herself by erecting a magical force field around herself and Jamal, who was obviously surprised:

"Was it my grandmother who gave you back the book?"

"It wasn't Rose, your dear grandmother who brought me into this trap."

"She must be desperate. Please, Selene, don't blame her."

"Let's survive first and then we'll see what happens." Selene replied while concentrating on her barrier, which was becoming increasingly difficult as Nix was so furious that her strength was increasing more and more:

"We need help, this way we're going to die. My powers haven't fully returned yet.

Meanwhile, in Nifhil, Dashell hears Selene's call for help and, without saying a word, prepares to go and help her. But Maeve quickly gathers some wizardsfrom her clan, stands in front of the leader and says:

"We're coming with you and there's no point in you to deny because..."

"You can come." Dashell looks at Maeve with a slight smile on her face, she in turns, sighs loudly and watches her leader disappear. Leila, who had been watching everything, picks up her daughter and the twins and takes them to the castle for Irene to look after, then sets off into the dark forest towards the final battle.

"Do you really think you can escape me, Selene? My house will be your tomb."

"I have two children to raise and a love to live for, I don't intend to die here." At that moment, Jamal smiles.

"Why are you smiling, you idiot? Do you think the love she wants to live for is with you? It's not. She deceived you, you don't know that, but..."

Just then, the door to Nix's house is kicked in, revealing Alpha Lycan and his allies.

"Lyall!" Selene runs to her beloved, or at least tries to, because Jamal grabs her by the arm and pulls her close to him:

"You knew he was alive and you played me for a fool all this time? You made me believe you could accept me and you even kissed me. Was it all a show?" Jamal asks Selene, holding her by both arms, becoming visibly irritated and slowly transforming.

"I'm sorry, Jamal! But I'll never love you, my heart is Lyall's, it always has been and I've never loved you. Now, let me go!"

"I'll never let you go. You're mine!" Jamal says with tears in his eyes.

"No, I'm not. I'm a free woman to give my love to whoever I want."

"Selene, you won't stay with him. I'm not leaving you."

"Then tear my heart out with your claws, now. Because that's the only way I won't go back into Lyall's arms."

Jamal's expression changes to one of anger as he looks into Selene's eyes:

"As much as I want to now, I can't."

"But I can." Nix approaches his rival with all his might, Jamal pushes Selene away and it's King Wyatt's bastard son who gets hit.

"Why did you do that, Jamal?"

" The love I feel for her is stronger than the anger and resentment of being despised." Jamal says into Nix's arms

"It's all that damn woman's fault. Don't you see?" Nix teases as she tries to heal the wound she herself caused

"That reminds me of something important. You tried to kill my object of desire and that's why our pact was broken." Jamal stands up and looks at Nix, who lets out a laugh

"Our pact was broken a day ago, when your little voice came here to ask me to swap places with you and I accepted, as long as she brought Selene to me to to kill, she would be the sacrifice for the freedom of both of you. And here we are"

"Nix, I'm going to finish you off."

"Shut up. You're just an apprentice, you won't last 10 minutes."

"But I can take it. Let's get this over with, little sister." Dashell enters Nix's hut triumphantly.

"Have you brought reinforcements, Dashell? That's not fair. I'll have to call in mine too."

"Call whoever you want, but promise me that whoever of us wins this battle will leave the kingdom of Sirion and Nifhil in peace."

"Your proposal is interesting. I accept." The two brothers go flying across the roof.

Meanwhile, on the ground, the other wizards also begin their battle, Jamal and Lyall face each other.

"I challenge you, Jamal. And whoever wins will leave Sirion forever without looking back."

"I don't want to. I've already defeated you, have you forgotten? I've already become the new Lycan King and I see no reason to fight again."

"Got it! I'll leave then, but I'll take everything that's mine." Lyall takes Selene's hand and, at the same time, flashes a provocative smile at his rival, who becomes enraged and lunges at Lyall, starting a fierce fight between them and their werewolf allies.

In the midst of all this violence, Selene watches with great sadness, wondering if it was really her fault, as NIx had said, and thinking of a way to end the war. The fighting between the werewolves and the witches was getting more and more intense, with many casualties, especially on Jamal's part, since his allies were not used to fighting and many gave themselves up, recognizing the imminent defeat.

"You cowards! When I reign supreme I'm going to kill you all!" Jamal shouts in a distorted voice.

"Lyall, let us help you." Leila asks

"No. This is my fight."

"Leila, what are you doing here and the children?"

"I left them with Irene in the castle."

"Got it."

In the meantime, Lyall is hit by Jamal and Dashell by Nix. But none of them give up and fight again. Selene concentrates all her power and, together with the sorcerers of her clan, including Maeve, fires at Nix's sorcerers, who fall wounded. Selene takes the opportunity to seal their powers and bind them.

"Are you going to leave them alive?"

"Maeve, without their powers and trapped in the magical prison I'll make for them, they're harmless."

"I'm sorry, but I don't agree. Brothers, kill them all."

"Maeve... no!" Selene shouts, but no one hears her and all of Nix's allies are killed in the blink of an eye.

Seeing the situation, Nix becomes even angrier

"Selene, you bastard. You'll pay" Nix casts a paralyzing spell on his brother, who drops the golden dagger he was holding.

"Was that the crap you were going to kill me with, little brother?" Nix kicks the object away and advances towards Selene who protects herself with a force field spell

"Is that all you can do, Selene? Are you sure you have Freah's blood in your veins? She would have finished me off a long time ago. You're weak, Selene, and do you know why? You act with love, with pity, and that's your weakness. Just like your mother, who died defending your worthless father and her shitty clan.”."

"Why so much hatred, Nix?"

"Because I've never had anyone teach me what love is, I've always been treated with contempt or a mere object of power."

"Liar! Yes, you were loved, Freah adopted us when our parents died and taught you almost everything you know today."

"It's true! Freah looked after me and gave me a home, at least until this one was born and ruined everything. There was no place for me anymore, I felt sad, discarded like an old worn-out shoe, resentment and anger took over my heart, but if none of that had happened I wouldn't be strong and indestructible." Nix says with his sinister gaze

"No one is indestructible"

"Shut up, bitch!" Nix unleashes a power that destroys Selene's barrier, leaving her vulnerable. Just as she was about to strike another blow, Jamal steps in front of her, driving his claws into Nix's chest and ripping out her heart."

"Jamal... why?"
