Chapter 144: The end!

Jamal stands in front of him, digging his claws into Nix's chest and ripping out his heart."

"Jamal... why?"

"Isn't it clear to you? You call yourself so intelligent and immortal. Save yourself now, Nix"

"I knew you'd be my undoing, but it was good the times we loved each other on that rug, on that sofa, in my bed, remember? For me, despite everything, you were the best thing that ever happened to me. Dying in your clutches - how ironic that I didn't see it coming!" Nix smiles weakly and takes one last breath, and finally Jamal lets her body fall, bloodied and heartless, because the same it gave the last pulsars last throbs into the hand of the cruel werewolf, who finally eats the evil witch's heart, freeing Rose from the pact she had made in exchange for Selene.

"She chose to be like this and it ended the way she never expected. It's my fault, I should have been more insistent with her and not turned my back like I did, I didn't see how much she was suffering."

"Dashell, let's bury her next to my mother's grave in Nifhil, what do you think?"

"That would be very nice. Thank you Selene!"

"So much nonsense. Get away from him, Selene." Jamal pulls Selene tightly to him

"What are you doing, let me go?"

"I just wanted to be loved by you too."

"Why do you despise me?"

"I... don't despise you, I just don't love you the way you do. This love I can only feel for Lyall. I'm sorry!" Jamal closes his eyes, takes a deep breath and exhales all his fury, dropping Selene to the ground and going all out on Lyall, and the two start fighting again. Selene got up and realizing that the fight wouldn't be over until one of them had killed himself, she made a difficult decision, disappearing from where she was and appearing between the two werewolf brothers who were fighting like madmen and just as they were about to attack each other, the attack from both of them went through Selene's body, who was supported by Lyall before she hit the ground:

"Selene, don't talk like you're saying goodbye."

"I am. Half my life energy was gone when I saved Uriah on the day our twins were born, and I feel like I won't be with you and our little ones any longer. I'm sorry Love! Jama, I'm sorry I didn't reciprocate your love, but we're not in charge of our hearts, are we? "Good! That's... well... better. Lyall, I... love you!" At that moment Selene closes her eyes and Lyall realizes that his beloved is dead. The Lycan king cries out his pain with Selene still in his arms, Jamal leaves Nix's house devastated and defeated and is intercepted by Ethan:

"Where are you going?"

"Why are you worried about me? Don't worry, I'm going to keep my promise to Selene. I don't want this cursed kingdom, Lyall can make great use of it. Can I go now?" Ethan made room for Jamal to pass

As everyone mourned the disastrous loss of Selene, Dashell approached her friend's lifeless body and said:

"Maybe there's a way to save her."

"But she's dead"

"The body is, but the spirit isn't."

"You're not thinking of doing that ritual, are you?" Maeve widens her big black eyes.

"Yes, redhead, and you're going to help me."

"But, Dashell"

"I know. Just help me, okay?

"And what can I do to help?"

"Lyall, just take her to the rock by the waterfall where she won her children, remember?"

"Of course! What day?"

"Tomorrow midnight is when the blood moon will be at its peak"

"What are you thinking of doing?"

"Take her tomorrow and you'll know. For now, we have nothing to do but wait." Dashell then disappears and it's the turn of Maeve and the other surviving wizards."

Lyall decided not to return to the castle that night, but ordered his allies to return to Sirion, Ethan and Pavlos went straight to the castle where they told everyone what had happened and as expected even the servants mourned the death of their mistress, Rose began to blame herself for what had happened and was consoled by her granddaughter who, despite her young age at the time, seemed wiser than her grandmother. The next day, Lyall arrived at the time and place agreed with Dashell, who was already there with Maeve and two other wizards from her Sons of Gaia clan; the surrounding torches and the gentle breeze gave the moment the mystical touch it required.

"Places Selene on the stone, let's get started." Dashell prepared to begin the spell, which was called reincarnation. He formed around the stone and began to recite a mantra, which everyone repeated. Finally, when the moon was at its zenith in the sky, the wind hit the trees so hard that they swayed non-stop and when Dashell recited the last verse, the torches went out and the wind ceased:

"Ah! It worked. You woke up. Good!"

"Dashell? What... Dashell!" Selene asked in confusion, looking into the beautiful wizard's emerald eyes.

"You were asleep and now you're awake. Selene, be happy!" Dashell kisses Selene on the forehead with a slight smile and falls to the ground, Maeve runs to her mentor and lover crying.

"What's going on?" Selene gets up and also approaches Dashell, noticing that he is lifeless.

"Maeve, explain this? Why is Dashell dead, what happened here?" Selene asks in anguish and with tears in her eyes

"He exchanged his life for yours by performing the resurrection ritual."

"But this ritual requires that in order to be resurrected the other person has to sacrifice themselves. I don't understand, why did Dashell do this?" Selene frowns

"Because he loved you, you idiot. He said he'd rather die than live without seeing your smile every day and your big, beautiful amber eyes." Maeve tearfully reveals, hugging her lover's body.

"It can't be. How come I never realized?" Selene sat down in disbelief. Lyall approached her and hugged her without saying a word because he understood that this was a moment of compassion and gratitude.

The next day almost everyone was in Nifhil to say their final goodbyes to Dashell and Nix, the two brothers who had sacrificed their lives for their loves, but Jamal preferred to watch everything from afar:

"Why didn't you go there?"

"Elena, you scared me."

"I'm sorry! But why didn't you go over there?"

"There's no more room for me."

"And when did it happen?" Elena teases

"Yeah, you're right. I don't think I ever I had."

"We're both the same. Despised and unloved, we should get together." Elena smiles

"Good idea. Come with me, help me rebuild the Moon Village and our pieces." Jamal stares at Elene

"Are you serious?"

"Yes! There's nothing for you here. Look at them, they all have someone to love, to come back to at the end of the day, what about us?" Elena thinks for a few seconds

"Fine! I'll go with you, but you don't want to abandon me afterwards, you hear?"

"The same goes for you."

A few years later, Lyall and Selene were strolling through the castle garden, talking:

"I'm glad things have settled down over time."

"It's true, love, the boys are going to be four, Leila and Ethan are having their fourth child, Pavlos and Irene are married, I miss them, you know? But they needed their own corner, I understand. Maeve decided to leave after Dashell's death and what do you know, Jamal and Elena got together and rebuilt the Moon Village that was always Grandma Rose's dream, too bad she didn't get to see it finished before her death, Sophia became a beautiful young and as for Ava and Dr. Song, those two, did you see? I'm so glad my friend found love at last, it's a shame she went to live in South Korea with her husband, but her children are so cute.

"Cuter than ours?"

"Of course not."

"What about the two of us?"

" What do you mean the two of us?"

"The best decision I ever made was to go to that bar that day and meet you."
