Chapter 136: Selene makes a difficult decision!

Upon hearing the doctor's words, Dashell wonders when Alpha Lycan will wake up, but the doctor reveals that he has no way of predicting this situation, but that he would always be doing tests periodically and recommended that he always talk to Lyall, as this could stimulate him to wake up faster, the sorcerer thanks him and lets the doctor go on his way. Maeve, for her part, goes to meet her friend and also asks him:

"What we agreed before. You go to Sirion to see how things are going and I'll stay here to recover my strength and wait for Lyall to wake up."

"Okay! I'm going to Sirion, but if anything happens to me, I hope you die of regret."

Selene celebrated with her friend and congratulated her. She was thinking and crying on her bed when the door to her room opened to reveal Jamal and Veronica carrying Uriah and Wahid in their arms. The beautiful werewolf, now just Alpha of the Úmeris pack, ran up to pick up her babies, hugging them affectionately and then ready to breastfeed them:

"I've already set the date for our wedding, it'll be next week."

"Wow, so fast." Selene doesn't hide her surprise

"I've waited too long. I want to make you my wife as soon as possible."

"I understand"

"I'll let you look after your children now. Come on, Veronica!"

Jamal and his maid leave the room, locking the door again. Selene finished breastfeeding her children and placed them in the cradle. She needed an idea to save her children from Jamal's clutches in Nix and it was at that moment that a bird landed on her window and automatically unlocked it, making Selene startle and get into battle position, especially when she realized who it was:

"What do you want here? Go away, Maeve."

"Stay calm, I'm here to help. Dashell sent me."

"Is Dashell alive? Why didn't he come and help us?" Selene says grudgingly

"It wasn't his fault, Nix attacked him on the way and met a spell on him, I saved him."

"You? Why, if you're an ally of the damned Nix?"

"You really don't know? I've never hidden my feelings for Dashell from anyone, we've known each other since we were little and trained together, but I've never reciprocated. I know it sounds silly of me, but he's stronger than me and I only made the pact with Nix for Dashell and when she tried to kill him she automatically broke our pact."

"Does she know that?"

"What does it matter now? I came to find out how things are going here, I can't be long, tell me what I can help you with."

"I'll be forced to marry Jamal to protect my children. Without my powers and without Lyall here, I'll have to protect myself as best I can. But I've had an idea that you might be able to help me with."

"First of all, I need to tell you something important..." Selene is filled with hope, but someone starts to tamper with the door and Maeve is forced to flee.

"Who were you talking to, bitch?" Veronica enters the room with an arrogant tone

"Who do you think you're talking to? What confidence, you damned witch." Selene frowns

"I don't owe you any satisfaction. Now tell me who was here with you." The witch points to the previously closed window.

"You're a maid here, how dare you talk to me like that? Placed yourself in your place." Selene approaches Veronica

"My place? I'm only here because Nix asked me to keep an eye on Jamal's behavior and as for you, in the end, you'll die if by no my hands it will be by those of my sovereign Nix." Veronica still uses her arrogance.

"What's this about? Explain."

"I don't owe you any satisfaction, bitch. Now tell me who was here with you, was it Dashell, did he survive?" Selene remains silent.

Just then, Jamal enters the room:

"What's going on?"

"This woman has been visited by someone with magic, because look, the window is no longer sealed as before, it's completely open. I was just trying to find out who had the audacity to break my sovereign's spell."

"How cynical of you, did you learn from your sovereign? You fucking bootlicker. You came in here full of arrogance calling me a slut and I promised myself I'd never let anyone humiliate me again. So get out of my room and don't come back here again, because if you do I'll kill you." Selene rages.

However, before Veronica could even answer Selene, Jamal let his sharp claws appear and in one swift stroke, he ripped out the witch's heart, which fell lifeless to the floor.

"You killed her."

"She insulted you and tried to humiliate you, from now on you're my wife and I'm going to protect you. And why are you so surprised? Didn't you just say you'd kill her next time?" Jamal says with his hand dripping with the witch's blood, Selene, in turn, feels a chill but remains to look at Jamal

"You're to blame for all this. You made a pact with a dangerous witch-like Nix. What are you thinking, do you think you can control her?"

"That's my problem. Just concentrate on our wedding."

"I've already agreed to marry you, and you're still going to keep me locked up here? Please, let me out." Selene looks at him with her big, piteous amber eyes.

But you can't leave the castle and if you dare disobey me, you'll go back to your room and your children will go back to Nix and you know, she has no patience with children, especially babies. So my princess, don't step out of line." Jamal left the room carrying the witch's body to burn it, leaving Selene in front of her children's cribs. She was deep in thought and made a difficult decision, she went to find Leila who was in her room finishing bathing Madelyn.

"He's finally released you. What's all this about marrying Jamal?"

"Leila, I need help."

"And what would that be?"

"Take my children away from the castle and look after them for me."
