Chapter 137: The Rescue!

Leila looked at Selene with wide eyes, what an unusual and dangerous request, she thought to herself, but in the end she understood her friend's wishes perfectly and made herself available:

"May I ask how you're going to do this? Since we're being watched so closely and if Jamal even suspects your plan, I don't know what could happen to us."

"I know what I'm asking is very risky, but if all goes well at least my children, you and little Madelyn will be free of this place and what's more, I'll get more people to help you." Selene holds Leila's hand and with the sincerity of her words, she manages to convince the short-haired, bad-tempered werewolf.

"It's okay, Selene. I'll trust you."

Returning to her room, Selene finds Rose hugging her and crying about everything that has happened:

"I'm sorry, my dear! I had no idea what Jamal was planning."

"I believe in you, Grandma Rose. But now I really need your help."

"And what do you need?"

"I need you to help Leila get my children out of the castle and take them to Nifhil, they'll be safe there, I can't let Jamal use them as bargaining chips again."

"Ah, Selene! Sorry about that."

"Grandma Rose! Stop apologizing or I'll start thinking you're Jamal's accomplice in his sordid plan. It's enough that Sophia betrayed me and stole the spell diary."

"She's just a child who's very attached to her brother, he must have convinced her. But if we show her that Jamal is wrong, we might be able to get her to go back and maybe even help you get your diary back."

"I don't know. If I can get my children out of here, that'll be enough for me and I'll be able to think about my next steps."

Rose leaves the room and returns to the kitchen where she finds Irene and Pavlos talking to each other:

"We can't abandon Miss Selene like this. I don't want to leave now." Irene clutched Pavlos' uniform, visibly agonized.

"We have nothing else to do here. Our loyalty was to Young Master Lyal, but he's dead." Pavlos replied firmly

"But he left a legacy. The twins and Selene, who was the woman he loved. Are you really going to abandon her?" Irene gets a little angry

"My sweet naïve Irene, didn't you hear the commentary in the castle corridors? Selene has agreed to marry Jamal and the wedding will be in two weeks at the latest."

"Even so, we can't abandon her," Irene insists and it was at that moment that Rose entered the conversation

"Irene's right. Please don't abandon Miss Selene, she needs you. My grandson has gone too far with this story and I'm telling you, we need to find a way to get him out of power."

"Unfortunately, Mrs. Rose, we can't do anything without Lyal. And besides, he has ears and eyes everywhere."

"And don't forget the bastard witch called Nix. Her beloved grandson made a pact with her and now we're without our master and everything is upside down."

"I... I'm sorry! It's all my fault, if I hadn't told Jamal the truth all this wouldn't have happened." Rose cries and is consoled by Irene

"Grandma Rose, you only did what you thought was right, don't blame yourself like that." Irene hugs Rose, who raises her body and says:

"I have to make things right, whatever it takes."

Rose gets up and goes after her grandson, finding him in the study talking on the phone:

"You and your charlatan witches can't find Lyal's body? How could that happen, Nix? Did that bastard survive? Keep looking for him, we'll talk later." Jamal became visibly upset and it was then that Rose realized that there was a chance that Lyal was alive. The kind lady gave up talking to her grandson for the time being and ran to tell Selene what she had heard.

"Has something happened, Grandma Rose?"

"Yes. I just overheard Jamal talking to that witch and he was furious about an almost absurd possibility, but one that does seem to exist."

"What possibility?"

"Lyal could be alive. They haven't found his body yet." Rose reveals and Selene feels her heart soar and a flame of hope rekindle.

"Thank you, Grandma Rose!"

In the early hours of the morning, while packing her suitcase with the essentials for her children, Selene cried at having to distance herself from them, but she felt in her heart that it was the right thing to do and tried to cling to this fact for comfort. All set, Selene met Leila at the back of the castle, she knew a secret passage that led straight out of the castle, she also had the help of Irene and Pavlos.

"I don't know how to repay you for this act, my friends. I will be eternally grateful"

"We understand. Now let's get going before we attract the attention of Jamal's subordinates" Leila says, taking Uriah in her arms while Madalyn is asleep strapped to her body, Irene picks up Wahid and Pavlos the suitcase. Selene gave her children one last kiss and finally let them go, returning to her room unable to sleep for the night.

While fleeing through the castle tunnels, they run into Ethan who has gone to rescue his sister from prison.

"Leila, where are you going with the children?"

"Nifhil!"

"Right. I'll meet you there." Everyone continues on their way.

Arriving with the utmost caution, they reached the dungeon where Elena was imprisoned in a cell strong enough to withstand the strength of a transformed werewolf on a full moon night. However, Ethan had access to the password and it would be easy to open if he could get past the two werewolves on guard duty that day. The Alpha of the Wind Wolves pack waited patiently for the two werewolves to drop their guard and get distracted, and it was at that moment that Ethan attacked them, silently and immortal co following them to the cell where his sister was being held and when he was about to rescue her:

"I was wondering when you were going to come and rescue your little sister."

"Jamal, you bastard!"
