Worse

YRENE'S POV.

Photos, and posts of the damage done, was published in articles, and uploaded on all social media. There was no account I logged into that the news didn't get to.

The attack that had taken place the next day was even worse than the first.

The school had taken precautionary measures, and had advised the students to stay in their homes. I kept on being dragged on various platforms, but wasn't concerned about that.

My concern was the timing of the rogues.

How could such, begin to happen immediately the triplets became pack leaders? Of course, it was bound to make the people think the triplets weren't capable of handling the affairs of the Kingdom.

It didn't stop there. The rogues continued to attack comtinously for almost a week. I had healed in that time, but preferred staying in the hospital because I was scared they would find me again, and try to kill me.

And it had taken persuasions from the triplets, before I agreed to leave the hospital.

However, as we prepared to leave, Eileen, and her father walked in. She smiled at me, and dropped a basket of fruits in my hands, while her father gave me flowers.

"I came to offer my sympathy fo the havoc that's going on. Do you perhaps have a clue as to what is causing it?" Her father asked, and the triplets sighed simultaneously.

"We are working on it." Reece replied.

"We will render all the help you need. How dare those rogues attack the pack? If it's men, or resources you need, we're right behind you." Eileen said, touching Reece's arm gently.

"She is right." Her father replied, and I chipped in.

"It's odd how rogues who've never been in the pack, know the weakest places to attack. It's almost like an outsider is constantly feeding them information." I mentioned, and Eileen looked at me.

Her father's face turned dark, and he had to use a smile to cover it up.

"She's right. There must be an insider giving information." Eileen agreed, and I almost scoffed. She and her father were my prime suspects.

They simply looked every bit suspicious.

A lot of people stayed in their houses following the attack by the rogues. They couldn't bear to lose their lives, or the lives of people they held dear to their heart.

I greatly suspected Eileen, and her father. They were oddly calm, too calm to pose as concerned allies. Eileen for one, looked like she had power over her father, and that was scary because she alone was scary. Imagining what she could do with her father's power was scarier.

However, it got much more worse when I was suddenly called late at night by Kaden, who had never sounded that scared.

"Yrene. Reece was attacked. He's… he's in the hospital now. He's badly injured." Kaden told me, and I could tell the situation was really bad, just from his tone.

"I'm on my way!" I said immediately, leaving the house. Not Reece. How could they dare to attack a pack Alpha?

When I got to the hospital, Ethan, Kaden and Eileen were pacing in the waiting room.

"What happened to him?" I asked immediately.

"Apparently, he ran into some rogues, and instead of calling, he took them on himself. They nearly killed him. It was an old lady, who called us for help, after finding him." Kaden explained.

"It's very serious. The doctors couldn't even give an answer if he'll survive or not." Ethan added, looking at the floor angrily.

Eileen actually looked so worried that I wondered if she could actually be a suspect.

She loved the triplets, so why would she attack them?

"You know what? Those jerks can't have escaped. I need to tell my father. We'll find them tonight." She suddenly said, out of the blue, looking angry, and stormed away.

She was suspicious, but at the same time, I kept on wondering what her motive was if she hurt the triplets.

EILEEN'S POV.

My father was sipping wine when I got home, and I stormed in.

"Okay! I do not understand! Can you explain?" I asked, unable to control my fury.

"Explain what, Darling?" He asked, calmly.

"Explain what?? Reece is in the hospital, and the damn doctors can't say if he'll survive! Was this your plan? Because this is certainly not what we discussed!" I shrieked, and he dropped his wine glass, getting up from his sofa. "Those men need to be punished for touching Reece." I added.

"Darling, it was only self-defense."

"Oh! Self defense, and he's almost dying!? Why, that's bullshit!"

"Eileen, think on the bright side."

"Well, I don't see the bright side. I'm beginning to doubt this. If the dirty rogues can't keep their dirty hands to themselves when it comes to the triplets, I'll kill them. Let's stop this now."

"We can't. Just a little more push, and the triplets would break. They would mate with you willingly, and get all the power, and support they need from us."

"Daddy…"

"Shush, darling." He said, and offered me wine. "Think about it. Just a little more. We only need to bend them just a tiny bit more. You'll eventually have the happy ending you want darling. Think about it." He said, and I took a deep breath.

He was right. I had to think of the ending.

If Reece turned out fine, then I didn't need to punish the rogues. It would only push the triplets to ask for more help, and realize they needed to mate a person with power. And that I was the one who was in the right position to offer it.

YRENE'S POV.

It was late in the night when the doctors told us they were done, and Reece had survived.

His organs had been injured badly, and they had performed a surgery on him.

We were unable to see him that night, and had to wait till morning before we were allowed to see him.

Eileen came in the morning, looking like she had barely gotten some sleep, and when the doctor told us we could see him, she was the first to dash into his ward.

"Reece!" She called, and hugged him, making him wince. "You, idiot. Why couldn't you call anyone? Howl, roar, use the phone, there are so many options, yet you had to take on the rogues yourself." She scolded, and Reece smiled.

"She's right. You had me worried." Kaden added.

"Are you okay?" Ethan and I asked, at the same time.

"Here's the question you all should be asking. Yes, I'm fine." He replied, and Kaden hit his arm. "Hey!" Reece snapped.

"Did you, and your father catch any rogues?" Ethan asked.

"I searched for them myself, but couldn't find any of them." She replied, looking dejected.

"You really searched for them? All alone?" Kaden asked, bewildered.

"My father said they would have escaped, but I didn't want to accept that. I was still mad, so I stormed off in search of them." She replied.

"Thank goodness you didn't find them. The day before yesterday would have been the last time we all saw you together." Reece joked, pushing her head away with his finger.

"But you…" Ethan was saying, when Reece suddenly coughed hard. He coughed once more, and blood poured down his mouth.

"Reece!" We all shouted.
