Something fishy

YRENE'S POV.

Why would Eileen throw a photo of the late Alpha into the bin? It all made sense to me. Eileen had to know something about the Alpha's demise.

She could not just throw the Alpha's photo away, when she knew how much the triplets were grieving because of him. It only meant she wasn't bothered by his death, and her not being bothered, definitely meant she had something to do with it.

I just could not find another reason to take my suspicions off her. Even in the little time I knew her, Eileen was someone that went crazy whenever things didn't go her way.

I knew she would do anything to get what she wanted. I just wasn't sure if she would go as far as murder.

Whatever she had done, the triplets weren't safe, spending long hours with her.

And I was going to let them know. I took the photo with me, and stormed to their room, but on getting there, I had second thoughts. It was late at night, and I didn't want to wake them if they had slept.

Being awake was a kind of misery for them, so they probably treasured their sleep, and I didn't want to ruin it for them.

There would always be plenty of time to tell them.

I turned away, and happened to run into Eileen.

She was standing, leaning against the wall, and in the dark, she looked scary. I couldn't deny the ominous feeling that had surrounded me.

She watched me carefully, and her eyes slid to the photo I was holding.

"What's that?" She asked softly, with a raised brow.

I hid the photo behind me slowly, and made to walk past her, but she held my arm.

"I asked what that was." She insisted, menacingly, and I began to imagine her murdering me, without anyone knowing.

"Do you really want to fight here? When the triplets are sensitive to everything going around them?" I asked, jerking my arm out of her grip, and she watched me, as I walked past her.

When I got to my room, I closed my door securely, and also closed the windows. If she had managed to kill the Alpha, there was no telling, as to what she could do.

That night, I hid the photo of the late Alpha in my drawer, and went to bed. I had to ask the triplets when Eileen would leave the house. It was getting really uncomfortable staying with her.

Finally, I slid under the covers, and closed my eyes, ready to sleep.

It hadn't been long after I slept, that I heard the door creak open.

My eyes flew open, and my heart thundered in fear.

I had locked my door. I clearly remembered doing so. So, how was anyone able to get in?

Soft footfalls landed on my floor, getting closer, and I shuddered.

Finally, I got the courage to turn, and saw Eileen standing over me in the dark, with a raised knife.

My lips parted to scream, but her hands came down hard on my mouth, and shortly, her knife sank into my belly.

My eyes flew open, and I sat up in bed. It was dawn, and I was sweating all over. The room was all heated up.

I took in deep breaths, and tried to arrange my thoughts. The dream had felt so real. It even felt like she was still in my room.

I swung my legs out of bed, and ran to the door. It was still locked.

"Goodness me." I muttered, and went to my window.

I pushed it open, and cold morning air, brushed past me. Something fishy was going on, and I already knew it had to do with Eileen killing the Alpha, but I still couldn't believe it.

How could she have the audacity to do that? It wasn't anything a normal person could do. Could she actually have the guts to kill an Alpha? How had she caused his heart to fail?

Either way, I had to let the triplets know.

REECE'S POV.

After our father's death, I thought it was me, who had it hardest because I had doted on him, but it turned out Ethan had it hardest.

He had been so focused on being the model child, that he had missed out on spending quality time with our father. We had always spent time together, but Ethan never really opened up to our father, and I guessed it was eating him up inside.

"Do you… do you want some meatballs?" Kaden asked, and Ethan sighed.

"Would you make it?" I asked, pushing aside a paper, on which I had been scribbling endlessly.

"I doubt it would have the sweetness you want. I don't think I have any sweetness left in me." Kaden replied, and I managed a little smile.

My first smile in weeks.

"Ethan, you?" I asked, and he turned to me.

"Maybe." He replied.

"Okay, I'll just…"Kaden was saying when a knock sounded on the door. "Come in."

Yrene came in, with a tray of meatballs, and we were a little surprised to see her for two reasons; One: She had tried to stay with us, while we were sad, but she still didn't feel comfortable with Eileen.

So I guessed she didn't stay with us much because Eileen was always with us.

Two: How did she manage to bring meatballs at the right time?

"I'm sorry, but I had to let you guys know what I think about this." She began, after dropping the meatballs on a little table, and all three of us, looked at her.

"Here. Eileen threw this into the bin last night." She said, handing out a photo of our father, and that was the last thing any of us needed to see at that moment.

Ethan sighed, and fell back on his bed, covering himself with the covers.

"Yrene, not now. Why did you bring this?" I asked, and she looked a little shocked.

"I'm suspecting Eileen. She had something to do with the Alpha's death."

"Really? Eileen?" Kaden asked flatly, and I could see he was beginning to get annoyed.

"Why is it when your father agreed to let you guys mate with me that this happened? Think about it."

We were barely trying to get a hold of ourselves, and feel better, yet she was dragging us down again.

"What's it you have with Eileen? Why are you so against her? She's been trying so hard to comfort us, but… is this really the least you can do?" Kaden asked, and she looked at me crestfallen.

"But… I'm…"

"Yrene, I'm sorry, but this is not the right time. She was probably trying to prevent this from happening all over again. Because honestly, seeing my father again brings so many painful memories that I've been trying to push back." I admitted, trying to make my voice soft, and her eyes fell to the floor in disappoinment.

"I'll come by later, then." She replied, and walked a few steps backwards, before leaving the room.

However when she did, no one touched the meatballs. We had sunk back into depression.
