Pack leaders
YRENE'S POV.
I had been really hurt when the brothers had refused to listen to me. I knew it was only because they were sad, but I couldn't help feeling hurt.
Ethan had not even said a word, rather he had covered himself up with the blankets like he didn't want to see me… like I had come to spout nonsense. Kaden also looked like I was just hating on Eileen for no reason.
However sad they were, didn't they see it was quite weird for Eileen to throw a photo of their father into the bin? She had absolutely no rights to do so. Didn't they feel bad? If their father had been alive, would they have liked to see Eileen dump his photo just like that? Like it was trash?
No matter how I tried, I couldn't understand the decision of the triplets to simply overlook Eileen throwing their father's photo into the bin.
When the sky got lighter, I went down the stairs to prepare something for the triplets to eat, but they were already down in the dining room, eating cheese and bacon, which Eileen had prepared for them.
"You're coming at the right time, Yrene. Breakfast is ready." Eileen said to me cheerfully, coming to stand behind me, and push me towards the dining table. "I made bacon, and threw in some cheese. It's nothing eloquent like what you prepare, but I just thought, since everyone is going through a hard time, I should do what I can to help everyone." She added, pushing plates towards I and the triplets.
There she was again, acting like the perfect, and flawless one who would always stand by the triplets' side.
Looking at her food, I didn't think I could eat. What if she added something to mine alone?
"We're going to be given the position of Alphas soon." Ethan announced, dully.
"Wow! It's such a happy news, but… why does it carry a tinge of sadness with it?" Eileen commented, dropping her fork.
"Maybe it's because we don't want the position. We can never be as good as our father was, we simply want him back." Reece added, taking a piece of bacon into his mouth, slowly.
"It'll be fine very soon. With time, you'll heal." I said earnestly.
"Thanks, Yrene." Kaden, and Reece replied, but Ethan was lost in another world.
As we ate, I carefully hid my plate with the jug of water, and spooned Eileen's bacon into a napkin.
It didn't matter how I tried to think better of it, I just couldn't eat what she prepared.

As days to the triplets becoming ruling Alphas drew closer, the triplets got even more busier, and had no time for me.
Whenever we saw each other, they all tried to say a word or two to me, but that was it. They were so busy that we rarely saw each other.
But my joy was, I could finally see them brightening up. Ethan had managed to smile at me when I brought him green tea because he couldn't sleep.
Reece told a little joke about Eileen looking like big foot each time she woke up, and Ethan, and Kaden had laughed.
They were becoming brighter, and healing faster. It made me happier.

I had thought Eileen would stop living with us in no time, but it got worse, as we were told we had to move to the pack house.
There were countless rooms in the pack house, so Eileen didn't need to move. She had asked the brothers if she could stay in the pack house, and they had agreed.
Of course, I didn't like the idea, but I knew better than to speak up. If I did, they would think I was only trying to antagonize Eileen once more.
We successfully moved to the pack house, and I told my mother all about it.
I told her everything about mating with the brothers in the near future, the alpha dying, the coronation, and us moving to the pack house, although I had left out the bad events occuring to me.
I couldn't have her thinking bad things when she was getting better. Bad thoughts were bad for her health.
My mum was sad about the Alpha dying, but she was proud of me moving to the pack house, which was the main palace. She had always wished the best for me, and she got emotional to realize that although she couldn't give me the best, I was coping well on my own.

ETHAN'S POV.
As I began to let go of my father, and get better, I realized I had been a little harsh on Yrene, and tried to make it up to her.
Maybe I was just a little jealous that although her only parent was sick, she still had her, while I had lost mine. It was a selfish way to think, but I couldn't help it.
Losing my dad had unleashed the monsters in me, but I had them all under control in no time. Preparations for the coronation began, and all three of us were thrown under extreme stress, trying to take over things completely.
We had a lot of people's names to memorize, and also their personalities. Important business deals my father had been unable to complete were also there, and we had to make care of them. There were also lots of hidden things we also didn't know Alphas had to go through.
My father had done it all excellently, and he rarely looked stressed.
I could have been in an even bigger fix due to Kaden, and Reece trying to shift the duties on me, claiming I was the eldest. But luckily, father had drafted it in his will that he wanted us three to rule, and not one. He wanted us to stay as a team, to stay together, and he felt we could be driven apart if one of us was picked out as a leader.
That suited me just fine. It meant we had to share all the positives, and negatives that came with being a pack leader.
Finally, the day of our ceremony arrived, and we were dressed by several maids. Never had I ever worn an outfit which required so many details. There were buttons, and laces everywhere, and I wondered how we were to take it off.
However, when we were done with dressing, we looked totally different in the mirror. We looked like men-real men. We looked like we were totally capable of ruling.
The ceremony started, and there were different performances, and rituals done according to tradition, but I was lost in a world of my own.
I kept on thinking of the future, which lay ahead of me, and wondered if the three of us could adapt easily to it all. We had to be more responsible, and Kaden and Reece, who loved tricking, and playing pranks on people, would have to stop.
Because pack leaders didn't go around, playing silly pranks.
I continued to think, and it was only when we were announced pack leaders that I snapped back to my senses.
"And now, I will command you all to bow to your Alphas!" The Elder who had officiated us as Pack Leaders ordered, and everyone went down on their knees, sinking into bows.
Then it finally sunk in. Our father was gone, and we were finally responsible for everything that happened in the pack.
