Chapter 336 Daddy Loves You

Chapter 336 Daddy Loves You
ADRIANA

“That's her secretary. Why would Sandy fail to mention that she called Lucy on the day she died?”

Or did she have something to hide too?

Hazel chimed in.

“I don't think she forgot. Sandy remembers details. I think she intentionally left that part out.”

But if it didn't mean anything, why would she leave that part out?

“Is there any record of the conversation?”

He turned the laptop screen to me.

“I couldn't find anything. It's like she called and ended the call immediately. It was barely a second.”

Was that intentional or was it a mistake?

“What time did her call come in?”

He turned the screen back to himself.

“Eleven thirty.”

I was trying to create a timeline but the evidence wasn't enough.

“I think I need to speak to her again. Hazel, can you get her on the phone for me? Don't alert her about anything. Just tell her that we urgently need her for something and that we will send a guard to pick her up.”

It was actually quite late and I didn't know if the commissioner would want to go back to the coast tonight.

“Would you like the guards to prepare a room for you and your men?”

“My Queen, we could never ask you for that. Instead, we would like to stay and help you.”

That sounded nice.

“You of all people would know why I would take that offer with a pinch of salt. I would still like to know if what happened to Alisha was an accident or not. However, since I have a prime suspect, I'll give you the benefit of doubt. Alisha had packed up and left her home for a long time. Now, I would like you to find out where she is staying.”

I mean, even though she had died, I was sure that she didn't pack all her belongings in the car with her and burn them too, so they would still be somewhere.

If they could find out where that is and help search the area, I'm sure we can find something tangible.

He stood up and his men packed up his things.

“Very well,.My Queen. We'll head back now.”

“By this time of the night? Are you sure that it's safe for you? You can stay here. There are plenty of rooms.”

He smiled.

“I appreciate the offer, My Queen but I'd rather go back and get started. We'll drive safely.”

As they walked out of the room, Hazel walked back in.

“I’ve told Sandy. The guards are going to pick her up now. What did you conclude with Tobias?”

I told her that I asked him to find out where Alisha was staying.

“I thought Tobias was still a suspect. Or did you clear him and I didn't know?”

I don't know if I could still label him a suspect.

“No, he's not been cleared. But he wanted to help out and that's the only thing I could give to him that would get him out of the way. You on the other hand, I need you to get me her phone records. Alisha's.”

“Why do you need her phone records?”

Lana had fallen finally asleep in the corner and she just curled up into a ball and faced the wall.

“I think Alisha made a certain phone call that day and I would like to confirm it.”

I decided to take Lana up to her room so that she won't feel uncomfortable when she wakes up tomorrow.

“That’s if I can find it. Last time I looked for it , it was turned off. What makes you think I'll be able to get it now?”

I picked Lana up and stood at the door.

“I don't know. I'm just hoping. If you can't find her phone, call the phone company and tell them I want those records. Hazel, I want them by the morning.”

I was tired and I should have been sleeping so that I could do more tomorrow but I just felt like I could do everything tonight.

“Let me know when Sandy is here.”

As I dropped Lana in her room, I laid on the bed with her. We had swapped out her cot because she was growing so big and I wanted her to be comfortable.

She was looking more and more like Elijah as the days passed. The jet black hair, the rosy lips. She was strong just like him too..

“Daddy loves you.”

I don't know the last time he had held her though. I don't know what was wrong with him these past few weeks and no, I won't ask again.

I'd asked before and he didn't give me an answer so instead of trying to pick a fight with me, why doesn't he try to give me an answer for what the hell was going on?

I could understand that he wanted to build a relationship with Lucien. I had even recommended it when he mentioned it and I bought into the idea but this…this was too much.

I mean, he spent every waking moment with the kid.

What were the others supposed to think when they keep seeing the both of them together?

The twins didn't know who Lucien was but Leo knew and I was sure that he knew that Elijah was spending a lot of time with Lucien. Lorian hadn’t said anything but she has definitely noticed her father’s closeness with the boy.

I wonder why he hasn't said anything. I don't know if I should say that I'm happy he hasn't said anything because I didn't even know what to say to him. But then, that meant that he might be keeping it all in and I don't think that's healthy.

Or was he cheating on me? I mean, he was spending a lot of time with Lucien so that meant that he would be seeing Simone a lot.

Even thinking about that was ridiculous. How could I think that? Elijah didn't like Simone and he didn't have any feelings for her. He had told me that himself.

But no matter how much I tried to push the thought from my head, it just kept coming back.

Maybe I should go see him.
