Chapter 335 Check the Phone

Chapter 335 Check the Phone
ADRIANA

“For now, we just need to focus on finding hard evidence that truly puts her there or else, our theory is out the window.”

Hazel stood at the board, spending a long time staring at it. I sat down behind her and thought too.

Leo brought in Lana and I just put her on the floor to do her own thing. She didn't seem to care that I didn't have her time.

“Oh yeah mum, there's a man here to see you. I don't know what his name is.”

Must be Tobias.

“Can you bring him here? Thanks baby.”

How did the detective find the phone so quickly? I thought they claimed that they couldn't find it at the crime scene.

How come it turned just a while after I had asked him.to look for it?

That meant that if he wanted to look for it, he would have easily found it.

The door opened and Leo came back with Tobias and some of the other men I'd seen earlier today at the fire scene.

“Good evening, My Queen. Good day, Beta. This is my deputy and this is the Head of crimes. Just as you've asked, I've come to report to you.”

Hazel and I looked at each other and she went to stand behind me.

“Report to the Queen.”

It didn't have to be so formal. This wasn't the first time I was having Tobias in my house. I knew that she was giving him a hard time because of what that detective did as I didn't want to say anything.

“We’ve done an exam on the car. It's been determined that the car blew up in flames at the point of impact.”

He said that like I was supposed to understand what that meant.

“I'm guessing you're saying that the car blew off when she drove it off the cliff?”

”Well, we don't know yet if she drove it off the cliff or if it was an accident. We're still yet to determine that.”

I didn't have the time to wait.

“What’s taking so long?”

“We apologize, My Queen. I'll get the report to you as soon as possible. As for Alisha, we couldn't find any body for her. We did find her purse and her phone but we couldn't find a body.”

What did he mean?

“What do you mean you couldn't find a body? Who took it?”

“The fire was so hot that we suspect that it burnt down every last bit of her. Normally, there would still be some bones left or some teeth for dental identification but not this time around. The fire was intense. The firefighters spent over three hours trying to put it out.”

So Alisha was really dead?

“So you're saying that there's no reason to suspect foul play in any of this? Was it just an accident?”

He turned around and collected a file from his deputy.

“I think you should read this, My Queen.”

It stated in the file that an accelerant was used. They found traces of petrol which they think is the accelerant.

“What's wrong with this? You don't agree that an accelerant was used? It's your report. It states that petrol was found.”

“Yes, but petrol would normally be found in a car. It's not odd. It shouldn't even have come up during the tests. I think we're overthinking this.”

Did he see how much that fire was burning? That wasn't ordinary. I could feel the heat from where I stood on top of the cliff. I was determined to prove to him that the reports were right .

“Get me the lab technician on the phone now.”

I took a closer look at the photos of the car and noticed something.

“My Queen, he's on the phone.”

He gave me the phone and stepped back.

“Good evening, my Queen. I-”

“What part of the car was burnt the most? I mean what part had the most damage?”

I could hear shuffling in the background and then there was some noise. I'm thinking he was close to the car.

“Um, the back of the car. From the seat to the boot. Everything burnt out.”

Good.

“And normally, what part of the car is supposed to take more damage? If this were a normal accident?”

“Well My Queen, it's usually the front part because that's where the engine was. But this accident is a freak show. I can't conclude for sure if it was an accident. Based on what I see, the car was in perfect working conditions and the owner never took it for repairs. I've called in every repair shop on the coast but they've never seen her or the car.”

That was interesting. I ended the call and turned back to Tobias.

“So it's safe to say that it wasn't an accident. I mean, you heard the man but I'd still like you to do research. Stay with him and let me know if you find anything new.

In the meantime, I'd like to check the phone.

“Did you bring the phone?”

He brought it out of a bag I didn't notice he was carrying before.

“Here it is.”

The phone was so I switched it in and I saw how he brought out his laptop as well.

“What’s that for?”

“For the recorder calls. Most of her phone was wiped clean. I don't think we'll find much on it.”

Just great. Isn't that so damn pleasant to hear?

“On the day of her murder, ten calls came in. Most of them were from Tim whose story is true. He did call Lucy that morning but she didn't pick up. That was from the hours of eight to ten. And then another call came in but it was from an unknown number.”

Unknown number? I was hoping to hear that it was from Alisha.

“Did you trace it? Do we know who it is?”

“The text just came in. Sandy Hillman. Do you know who that is?”
