Chapter 319 He Didn't Come Looking

“I don't think he did it.” Was the first thing I told Hazel as we entered the back of the car.
“I know..I was trying to rile him up to see how bad his anger was. Perhaps that was what led to her death. But he remained calm.”
I knew that was what she was trying to do..
So what do we do now?
Oh well, I'm sure this whole misunderstanding would be cleared up today because I couldn't spend another night in that cell.
And why the hell had Elijah not come looking for me?
Hadn't he checked his phone to see my texts or calls? And didn't Leo see the text?
What the hell was going on?
Didn't they realize that I wasn't around or were they finally relieved that I was out of the house?
“Either way, we still need to find out what he and Lucy had that made him call her that much. It's not normal for a business relationship.”
I'll try my best to speak to him today so he can clear things up..
There were just too many inconsistencies.
“I mean, if there was nothing going on between him and Lucy, why would Lucy give Alisha his picture and ask him to keep it for her, saying that her husband was getting suspicious?”
That was another thing that didn't make sense. But eventually, everything would come out to the light.
When we eventually came out of the car, I decided to see Elijah's car outside but there was nothing.
Tears suddenly gathered in my eyes and they dropped before I could stop them.
“Are you crying?”
I knew she had seen me as I cleaned my face against my shoulder.
“Yeah, I'm fine. I don't know how that happened.”
“You know it's going to be fine right? We're not going to jail.”
Well, it doesn't seem like it right now. I've been gone for a day and I've been trying to reach my husband to come save me but he's been AWOL.
”I just want to go home.”
I wasn't even worried for myself. I was worried for my baby. What was she eating?
Yesterday, I only kept enough milk for the afternoon because I knew that I would be back in the evening to feed her, so what did she eat last night and this morning?.
This wasn't fair.
“Let’s go inside. You're not done facing the consequences of what you've done.”
They pushed us inside and from the door, I could already hear his loud voice.
As we entered, he turned to me.
“Yes! Officer, this is her. This is the bitch who assaulted me.”
I'm already in cuffs, you bastard.
Maybe he was blind as well as dumb.
That pot bellied man from last night was back here.
“So you Injure an innocent citizen and then kidnap someone?”
“Innocent? The bastard groped me! What was I supposed to do? Open up my shirt for you to get the whole thing? I was just trying to defend myself.”
He walked closer to me and looked at me.
“I see that you're married. What were you doing in a bar like that? You were clearly asking for it. And he was just giving you what you asked for.”
I couldn't believe what I just heard. The fact that both of them started laughing over it just made me more mad.
“I was NOT asking for anything. And even if I was, it surely won't be from a dirty, drunk and deranged donkey like him. And you're right, it wasn't self defense. I did it on purpose. Why don't you give me a bottle again, so I can shove it in his neck?”
They stopped smiling.
“Did you hear what she just said to me? She wanted to hurt me. She planned to kill me. You stupid bitch.”
I was going to break that finger that he was pointing at me.
The female officer was signalling me to stop talking but she didn't need to worry about me. I could take care of myself. I always have and I always will.
Besides, it's not like they could throw me in jail. As soon as I got out of these cuffs, I would find a bottle bigger than the last and shove it up both their asses.
“I won't tell you to stop talking because you're just digging your hole deeper.”
Why couldn't they just take me to my cell? I didn't have the time to exchange words with any of them.
“I pray it's deep enough so it'll contain your fat corpse and that little lizard behind you when I'm done with the both of you.”
He didn't seem to like that I said that.
“How dare you, you little bitch!”
I didn't expect the slap. But I expected the pain when I hit my head on the wall.
As I fell to the floor, I heard Hazel scream.
“Do you know what you've done?!”
“Mum!”
I opened my eyes through the pain and saw Leo running towards me.
Maybe I wasn't seeing right.
But I couldn't keep my eyes open long enough to find out.
By the time I woke up, I was on a bed. My head didn't hurt any longer but my body did.
“Mum!”
I felt someone's arms wrap around me and from the perfume, I knew it was Leo.
“Leo, how did you know I was here?”
“I got your text, well aunt Hazel's text and I tried calling your phone and some lady told me that you'd been arrested and to come get you. She told me where to find you.”
The female officer…I needed to thank her.
“What about Lana? Is she crying? What is she eating?”
“When you didn't come home last night, I mixed up some baby formula for her to eat. I didn't know who else to call so I called uncle Roy and his wife helped me out. She cried a bit though but then she slept off.”
She was my main worry.
