Chapter 318 Do You Like Your Job?

Chapter 318 Do You Like Your Job?
ADRIANA

I don't know if Hazel forgot that we were being arrested and we were going to have records and could possibly go to jail if not for the fact that we were who we were.

But if this was a normal situation and we had really planned to kidnap that kid, there was no way we would not spend the rest of our lives in jail.

She didn't even care about the fact that he was the district commissioner. I think that fact even irritated her more because she just kept speaking to him no matter what he said.

It was like they knew each other before and she hated him already.

“You kidnapped my son! There's nothing else you want to say! People in the bar agree with the story!”

People in the bar?

The motorcycle guy…he was the only one who could tell the truth.

“The people in the bar are drunk fools! They wouldn't know what's happening even if the sun came down and fell on their heads. You want to believe them?”

Hazel was surely going to wear him out eventually. All I had to do was stand there and watch.

But she was one more sentence away from punching him.

“It doesn't matter what I believe. You kidnapped my son and he says so.”

“Your son is a sissy! Maybe if he would stop crying and be a man, he would know what the hell was happening.”

Tobias didn't seem like the kind of man with an anger issue so I didn't think he could have killed Lucy.

If not, he would have asked that we be thrown out instead of having to argue with Hazel.

He seemed to be enjoying the argument actually.

“My son is not a sissy. He's a kid. At sixteen, he'll be scared when two people push him into a car.”

“At sixteen, I started fighting wars. S-I-S-S-Y. He's a sissy. Maybe if you teach him a thing or two instead of babying him, he'll be half the man that you are. Or maybe you're just a sissy too.”

I looked around Tobias' table. There was no picture of a woman. The only pictures that were there were of his son.

There was no wedding ring on his finger and there was no mark that it was ever there. So I'm guessing there's no woman in the picture.

He pointed his finger at Hazel.

“You’re running your mouth a lot for a woman who's facing kidnapping charges. Your boss here is facing charges for kidnapping and assault in the first degree. That man had to have thirty stitches for his head and she's going to pay for his medical bills. Then you're going to go to jail. So go on, keep running your mouth.”

Assault charges? More like self defense.

I'm not paying any fees. He's very lucky I didn't bury the remaining part of the bottle in his neck.

“How about I punch you to make both our charges equal?”

Knowing that Hazel could do it, I stepped in.

“Hazel, that's enough. We're entitled to one phone call, aren't we? Your empty headed subordinates at the other station wouldn't let us have the privacy to do so. I need to make a call. Can I use your phone?”

He laughed.

“You think I'm stupid? You want to use my phone to call the remaining members of your gang so they can come here and spray bullets?”

Now, it was my turn to laugh.

“If I were actually in a gang, you wouldn't be able to get me to the station without having to bury half your men. I just need to make a call. I'm not dangerous or armed. This is all just a misunderstanding.”

He went around and brought out a pen and a piece of paper.

“Write the number down. I'll make the call myself.”

I really didn't have the strength to argue with him.

Hazel went and brought the paper to me.

“You know you don't have to do all this right?”

“These people are small minded. And they need a reality check. Besides, I'm not letting you do anything until I know why you threw up this morning.”

I don't even know why I threw who but im sure with had something to do with the unsanitary place and food I'd been eating.

I wrote down Elijah's number on the paper and gave it back to her.

“Who should I say is being arrested?”

“His Queen and his Beta.”

Tobias stopped for a moment, looked back at the paper and then nodded.

“I’ll be sure to let him know. Now, you'll go back to the station so that you can be booked and then, you'll be taken to jail. No trial because you are so guilty. Yes, I can do that.”

I didn't even bother saying anything to him.

“Tobias-”

“It’s Commissioner to you.”

“Bullshit. Do you like your job?”

He sat down in his chair and brought out his phone..

“Why do you ask? You want to kidnap me too?”

The other officers in the room laughed and I turned around to look at them..I had even forgotten they were here.

“Do you like your job?”

“Of course, I love my job.”

“And do you like your son?”

He looked up from his phone.

“Yes, I love my son.”

I noticed he was typing the number I'd given him.

“What about Lucy? Did you love her too?”

That finally got his attention. He dropped his phone and looked at me.

“What did you just say?”

I believe he heard me. I've done what I wanted to do.

“Hazel, let's go. We have life sentences to serve. Oh and Tobias, call that number. I'll see you later today.”

Before he got the chance to say something else, Hazel and I walked out of the room.
