Chapter 107 Why Did You Fall In With Her?

It had been a week since I came back. Of course, everyone at the pack had seen me and Leo especially was happy.
At one point, I thought Hazel was the one who missed me the most. It felt so good to be back somewhere that I was appreciated.
I didn’t feel like an outcast anymore.
I’d seen everyone except my arch nemesis. It crossed my mind that I hadn’t yet seen her and maybe I shouldn’t have thought about that because as soon as I did, our eyes met as she was coming down the stairs and I was sitting in the living room.
She looked very surprised and it was obvious that she wasn’t expecting me back. She didn’t think that I was going to be back of course but I was.
I was back and I was here to stay.
She came down from the stairs and slowly made her way to me.
“Nice to see you again.” I greeted her with a smile.
“What are you doing here? Does Elijah know you’re here? Get out before I call the guards to throw you out.”
I laughed and got up from my seat.
“Hannah, I have to admit. It was a smart move. I mean, getting Betty to plant the cake so that I will take the fall for it? Smart move. You almost succeeded.”
She looked upset.
“What are you talking about? Planting Betty? I didn’t do anything like that so I woke up. You were the one who wanted to kill Leo because you didn’t like him. Are you sure Elijah knows you’re here?”
“You are the one who doesn’t like him. You are the one who only goes close to him because you know that Elijah likes him. You’re the hypocrite, not me.”
Her nostrils flared like a bull that had sighted its prey.
“Why can’t you let me be? Why have you sworn to make my life a living hell? What did I ever do to you?”
She laughed. That was the first time I had ever seen her laugh before.
“You are just as stupid as your sister says you are. You don’t have to do anything for me to hate you. But you did do something, you bitch. You took Elijah away from me. He was mine before you found your way here and he will be mine. As soon as I get rid of you, he will marry me.”
It was my turn to laugh.
“Marry you? You really think Elijah will marry you? What sick genie told you that? Listen to me baby girl, he will never marry you even if I’m not here.”
“And what makes you so sure of that?”
I felt so proud to say this.
“Because I am his mate.”
I saw different emotions pass through her face at that moment.
“You bloody liar. What a joke. You really think I’ll believe you?”
I shrugged and went back to my seat.
“Believe me, don’t. I don’t really care but I’m telling you now that I am his mate and I’m the one he’s going to marry so wake up.”
She dropped her arrogance.
“Wait, are you serious?”
It made me so happy to see her like this.
“You can ask him if you don’t believe me. Feel free to go right now, I mean you do know his office right? I heard you crawled your way in there when I was away and the guards threw you out?”
Hazel had been the one to tell me that story and it made me very glad to hear that. I mean, what better welcome back story would be better than Hannah’s embarrassing moment?
“After everything that I’ve done. Why can’t you just leave? Why can’t you just accept defeat and leave Elijah alone for me? I came here before you and we were fine! Why do you have to be here?”
I got up immediately.
“Because Elijah is mine. How about you go find your own mate and let him be? Don’t you think it’s becoming too pathetic, the way you’re dragging yourself around him? It’s sad to watch!”
She raised her hand to slap me but I caught it just in time.
“Don’t be stupid enough to do something like that because you may never get to use that hand again. If Betty was stupid enough to listen to you, I wonder what lie you told her to get rid of her.”
“That foolish thing? It wasn’t hard to get rid of her. She seems to have the fantasy that just because we had sex once then it meant that I loved her. She didn’t understand that she was being used as a pawn in my game. So when the game was over, I got rid of her.”
I hope that didn’t mean that she killed her. Even after Betty had betrayed me, I would feel very bad if I learnt that she was killed because of me.
“What do you mean get rid of her? What did you do, you stupid bitch?!”
Hannah laughed. An audience had already gathered.
“I got rid of her. Read that in any way that you want to. Just know that you’ll never see her again.”
This witch had killed my friend. My first friend in this pack was dead because of her.
I raised my hand to slap her but I heard Elijah’s voice.
“Adriana! Don’t!”
I turned to look at him for a moment and in that time of weakness, Hannah grabbed me from behind and stood behind me with a knife to my neck.
“If you come any closer, I will kill her. Stay right there.”
Elijah raised his hands in surrender.
“Hannah, you don’t have to do anything stupid okay? Just let her go, I mean we can talk about this.”
I knew she wasn’t going to let me go just like that. She knew she had been caught.
“This is all your fault. Why did you fall in love with her?!”
